My mother lived at Morningside of Charlottesville for over eight years. It was a beautiful facility and the care was excellent! She participated in activities such as Bingo, Corn Hole, Trivia, Church services, special music concerts, and many events. She especially loved the book mobile that came to Morningside. The staff always welcomed our family. I would recommend Morningside to anyone looking for an excellent assisted living facility.

My mom was a resident of the memory care unit at Morningside for two years until she passed peacefully there last year. She was well cared for throughout her stay, and as her mental capacity declined and she often became difficult to deal with, her team of caregivers continued to care for her with love and grace, treating her with dignity and respect. Having explored and experienced numerous memory care options for my family member, Morningside of Charlottesville stands far and above the other residential care options for individuals living with dementia. From the start, every single member of Morningside's team was welcoming, extremely caring, and committed to excellence. Most of all, they have provided hope at every touch point. The community is staffed by trained caregivers who have worked for Morningside for decades. They not only closely monitor the health and wellbeing of all residents, they engage each and every individual to help residents live active, joyful lives. The living and community spaces are well designed, always extremely clean, and inviting to both the residents and their guests. I'm beyond grateful for the support, peace of mind, and commitment to care that the Morningside community has provided my family.

My parents moved into Morningside of Charlottesville with hospice assistance from Promedica/Heartland on March 31, 2023. In these few short weeks, I have been blown away by the caring, kind, patient, professional and capable staff! Many staffers are long time employees and that says a lot about operations and employee relations. Even newer staff are clearly carefully selected to keep up a culture of a true team environment, professionalism and to ensure a high quality of patient care. If you are looking for assisted living in Charlottesville and the surrounding area for loved ones, I cannot recommending Morningside more highly! Re: Memory Care/The Bridge. The Bridge has the two most important features of a memory care unit: compassionate and long-serving personnel and a perfect physical lay-out. Your loved one is not left to decline alone in his or her room. Rather, the residents are brought together in one of the rooms with staff, to watch movies, dance, sing, play catch, or engage in some other activity. Of course, residents are free to leave the activities, walk the halls within sight of staff, or go to their rooms for a lie-down. My loved one had more of a social life than she would have had if she had stayed home, but we also enjoyed plenty of private time in her room, on the patio, or out taking walks. The staff created a family atmosphere and genuinely and warmly welcomed visitors. As a visitor, I came to know other residents and their families. I treasure the times that I had at Morningside.

Our dad was a resident of Morningside for 3.5 months before he passed away. The staff could not have been more warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful to him and to us during the transition to assisted living and then during his multiple hospitalizations. From the very first moment my Mom stepped into Morningside we were made to feel warm and welcome. She is enjoying the activities and I the staff are all very, very caring. What I noticed from the first day I went to Morningside was the way every employee took the time to greet me and ask a question to engage me. This wasn't a "walking by" "How are you?" No, the employees would stop, engage in a brief conversation and demonstrate that they cared about you and your loved one. There was an issue with hospice and a Medicare auditor. I won't go into those details, but we came close to losing Medicare coverage for hospice care for our loved one. The staff at Morningside went to bat for our family in every way possible and were able to get a new hospice provider AND Medicare coverage. The communication from Morningside with us was consistent and frequent. Many provided us with their cell numbers and encouraged us to reach out with concerns or questions. From my experience, this facility should be held up as an example of how assisted living/memory care facilities should be run. Thank you to all for your wonderful care of our loved one.

I can not say enough about the amazing team at Morningside. I looked at a number of places in the greater Charlottesville area, expanding my search into Louisa and Waynesboro. The minute I walked into the beautiful facility I knew that was the place for my grandmother. I ended up having to admit her on an emergency basis direct from the hospital, and the administration and medical team could not have been more helpful! From the minute she arrived until her passing the team was attentive and kept me up to date on her condition and what was best for her not just her physical care but her emotional care. There is no place better for assisted living or memory care.

My Mother has been at Morningside for the past few years and I am very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the competency and professionalism of the staff, the activities and the warm and friendly atmosphere. My only minor complaint is that I wish there were more fresh fruit and fresh vegetable offerings for the residents. I'd love to see oranges and apples or bananas for example, be offered as part of the "all day" menu.

I just recently moved my mom and dad here and could not have asked for any smoother transition during these crazy virus times, not to mention the escalated timing of this move. The friendliest and most caring staff, I have ever encountered. Very nice place where I feel secure and well taken care of. The Executive Director Josiah and Nursing Director Trina are very attentive to the residents needs. Throughout the pandemic we have remained free of the Virus unlike a lot of other places in the area.

This excellent facility hasmy complete vote of confidence. My wife Adele is in good spirits despite having Alzheimers and has been a patient in its Memory Clinic since June 2017. She currently receives physical therapy there. One of the facilitys strengths is their attentive and kind caregivers. Im often asked by friends if I can recommend Morningside and I assure them its worth giving it every consideration.

The Bridge to Rediscovery at Morningside of Charlottesville has restored greater dignity and quality of life to my husband, George with dementia and to me, his longtime caregiver and wife. Everything in this tiny residential community reflects the Montessori personal interest format – hallway learning centers, resident shadow boxes with photos and hobbies, craft project displays, small-group clusters. The monthly calendar is full of events including family dinner nights and community excursions. Assured of Georges overall health being maintained, I have been given a chance to have my husband and myself back. Thank you, Morningside of Charlottesville!

I moved my mother into memory care at Morningside of Charlottesville the week the pandemic began. Needless to say, I was worried because she was going into a vulnerable space. But I have been nothing but pleased and comforted with how well my Mom adjusted with the help of the fantastic staff there. A special shout out to Brandy Maupin who has kept me in touch with my Mom through cards in the mail, video chats, and text messages. I feel that Mom is in good hands. She is comfortable and seems to be happier there than she was living along in her apartment. Her smiles are genuine. Alzheimers is a tough disease to deal with especially for family members. The staff at Morningside are incredibly skilled, patient, and compassionate with those who have the disease. It has been a challenge for them during covid-19, but they have met the challenge with skill and professionalism. I believe I made the best possible decision for my Mom--as difficult as it was--and that she is in very good hands.
