Rooms are very nice, but the restaurants are below average. Their menu doesn't match what you get. For example, their "braised short ribs" are pieces of pot roast. Their "Korean marinated chicken" was normal roast chicken with a little Asian style pickles sprinkled on top. At least their mashed potatoes aren't the instant variety?

Since my father moved into Sedgebrook almost four months ago, it has truly become a wonderful home for him. He's been thoroughly enjoying the wide range of activities offered, especially seated volleyball and pickleball, which keep him active and engaged. Socially, he also attends the regular happy hours and many of the special community events, which has allowed him to connect with so many warm and welcoming people. The dining options, whether at the Shoreline restaurant or the Bistro, are excellent, offering both variety and quality. Overall, the sense of community and the enriching experiences at Sedgebrook have brought him a lot of happiness and fulfillment, and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a new chapter in retirement living.

I moved to Sedgebrook from Arizona two years ago to be closer to my daughter and my siblings after my husband died. I'm so happy here! Sedgebrook offers so many services and amenities like transportation to area stores if you don't drive, repairs in my apartment if needed, a mailroom, beauty salon, grocery store, onsite banking once a week, indoor parking, doctor just for residents, and a variety of church services to name just a few. The restaurant serves good food with staff who take your order and serve your meal. I have many choices each day--even vegetarian options. Sometimes I invite my family of five to come and eat with me and can even buy wine by the glass or bottle for dinner. There's also a bistro for more casual lunches and dinners. You can be as busy here as you want to be and do the things you like to do. I like the variety of exercise classes available like yoga, line dancing, pool exercise, chair pilates, and walking club. There are also painting and craft classes and entertainment by outside people. I play games with friends and enjoy movies, book club, and Bible classes. We have fun outings to plays, gardens, restaurants, and the opera, and also trips to Chicago. Sedgebrook has all sizes of apartments and a full-time designer to help you arrange your new place. There are couples and singles living here and I have made many friends. It's a very friendly place to live.

Sedgebrook is the place to be in the Chicago area!! I worked for years in a care facility and this place is 5 star all the way. Wonderful helpful staff, clean environment, lovely apartments and to top it off, the food is delicious. The residents are happy for a reason. My brother-in-law was not ready to move out of his prior home but has adjusted extremely well to Sedgebrook. In short order he identified why this place was best for him: therapy and doctors right downstairs, a small store for snacks, and 2 restaurants to spend his food credit in. Before moving here he lived on sandwiches. Now he eats salmon, chicken Kiev and on occasion even lobster! He's happier than I've seen him in years.

The people are the best and the friendliest that you'll ever find. You always have to allow extra time to walk anywhere because you get stopped to talk! In the last 2 years I have became more involved and made many more friends. If you come visit you may meet me since I've become an ambassador for the marketing. Our new Executive Director Michelle is an inspiration to our whole community. I walk the beautiful grounds often. Spring/ summer is so green and fresh. I even try my hand to grow some flowers. There are many different floor plans to choose from. I'm sure there is one that will fit your needs. My suggestion is to start downsizing now. Come and find out for yourself, I'm sure you will be happy you did.

My parents selected Sedgebrook Independent Living after my father had a series of small strokes and realized that shoveling snow, leaf removal and home repairs were going to be a drain on their plans to travel and enjoy life together. One of the factors was the availability of a beautiful 2-bedroom apartment overlooking a lake to the east. Another was the onsite proximity to a higher level of care – Radford Green. My parents moved into Sedgebrook in the first part of 2017. During the COVID pandemic, Sedgebrook administrators and staff worked extra hard to ensure that all of the residents were kept safe – and families receive timely and relevant communication. They helped me get groceries delivered and hire extra caregiving help through Sedgebrook-at-Home when it was needed. My parents now need higher level care and are living over at Radford Green, where they receive excellent medical care and activities. It has been so very helpful to our family to have all levels of care within the same complex – and the Directors at Sedgebrook have been by our side through the whole life transition.

My siblings and I knew Sedgebrook was the perfect fit for our parents as soon as we drove on to the beautiful property. They have a spacious patio apartment that looks out to a very pretty pond and green space. They are very independent but love the conveniences Sedgebrook provides them. The garage parking in the winter is great, and they both love going to the restaurants instead of having to cook all the time. They have a lot of new friends and I feel great knowing they're having so much fun. Don't give it a second thought – move to Sedgebrook!

We recently moved my mother into Sedgebrook after a lengthy search of many senior-living options around the Chicagoland area. From the very first time seeing Sedgebrook, we knew that she would thrive here. The number of daily activities, organizations, and meal options ensured that she would be able to find something to fit her lifestyle. While the family knew that it was the right time for my mother to move, she herself was hesitant. Never a person to make a decision lightly or quickly, she needed a great deal of assurance, reassurance, and hand-holding throughout the process. That is where two exceptional Sedgebrook employees came in: Michael McIntyre and Joseph Jania. Michael worked with us from the first visit and showed extreme thoughtfulness and patience as we visited numerous times, battered him with questions, and negotiated every last detail. He facilitated multiple opportunities to meet with existing residents so my mother could ask questions and get their thoughts. He followed up and followed through on every last detail, and has remained as responsive and friendly as ever, now that she has (happily) lived at Sedgebrook for more than two months. Joseph Jania ensured that every last detail of my mother's selected apartment was made to her liking and endured more than his fair share of questions and requests from the family as she prepared to make the transition into her new life. It has now been two months since she has lived at Sedgebrook, and indeed, she has already thrived. She has made many new friends, joined numerous organizations, and participated in many, many of the long list of activities that Sedgebrook has to offer. She repeatedly expresses how much she loves her apartment, and how wonderful the staff and offerings are. Getting her into a community with such thoughtful employees and such a vibrant atmosphere has not only improved my mother's attitude, but taken a weight off of the minds of her family.

Rehabilitation department has been outstanding. When I arrived at Sedgebrook at the end of August I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I then participated in the in house rehab program, seeing a therapist twice per week. With the help of the therapist I progressed from using a walker all the time to using it infrequently. I was taught exercises to strengthen my core and quads to walk independently. Now I walk with no walker!!

I lost my wife in the summer of 2020 and that winter was the Covid winter when we were all locked down. It was a long, sad and lonely time for me. In the spring I received an invitation from Sedgebrook to come over and have coffee and a tour. During the visit a whole New World opened up to me. I began to realize that I didn't need to live alone. Sedgebrook had all kinds of activities going on, and the facility included an exercise room, a pool, hot tub, and a bike riding path that followed the Des Plaines River from Wisconsin to Chicago and more. Not wanting to live through any more groundhog days, Sedgebrook made my decision easy. After several visits, I selected a one bedroom apartment that has plenty of storage (walk-in closet), a washing machine / dryer and a complete kitchen. It also has a patio with an awning and a small garden beside it. To top all of that off, it also had an inside parking garage at no additional charge. Since I've moved in, I have made dozens of friends, enjoyed many lunches and dinners where I can eat with different people. In addition I have joined several committees. Although I still miss my wife terribly, I have now made a whole new life that is busy and has purpose. Jonathan Rodgers PS no more house repairs.

I can't say much about the activities, as she did not utilize these services, but the facility was always well maintained, the food above average, and the help from Sedgebrook at Home both caring and responsive to her changing needs. A positive experience.

Beautiful facility with such warm and wonderful staff. Katie and Joseph were amazing to work with. They helped my Mom and I through the whole process , making it seamless. Comfortable large apartment with great safety features . My mom is looking forward to getting involved with all the activities available. This place offers everything seniors need to live long healthy lives.
