Reviews Watercrest Buena Vista
August 2026
From the day I walked in, it was different than ALL the others - the staff, cleanliness, activities, food and EVERYONE I have spoken to just loves living there. Julie Shelton who is the move-in coordinator has been FANTASTIC!!! Thanks Watercrest for making my mom feel like family!!

Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! We recently held a Corporate Breakfast at Watercrest Buena Vista and it was PERFECT. The staff was amazing and the food was delicious. I am still in awe about the room set up. You nailed it. When you walked in the beautiful room, it was clear that the Alzheimer's Association was in the house! All the attention to detail was amazing. I needed the breakfast to impress, and you made it happen. Thank you to everyone involved.

I have been at Watercrest for 2 years. Prior to moving to Watercrest, I visited 10 other senior communities. Watercrest was my top choice because of its location. I am close to drug stores, restaurants, shopping centers, gas stations, etc. Other reason is the availability of things to do such as a workout place with a trainer, library, movie theatre, craft room, games for residents can play, dining place, bar area to eat or have a drink with your meal, exercise events, etc. Being here feels like you are a big family where everyone cares and willing to help others. Management is friendly and willing to help anyone when he or she needs any assistance. Through my social world, I recommend Watercrest for any senior looking for an independent or assisted living.

Five-star service through and through! The team at Watercrest Buena Vista treats every resident like a VIP guest. The "white-glove" feel of the management and the pristine condition of the facilities make everyday life here feel like a permanent vacation. It’s rare to find a place that balances a warm, welcoming community with such a high level of luxury and professionalism. A total gem.

My mom hasn’t moved in yet but we discovered a vibrant and friendly community when we went to visit the other day. We enjoyed meeting the residents and found the staff to be extraordinarily helpful and kind. One day, we hope to move my mom off of the waitlist

It is a beautiful building with lots of amenities. My friends who lived there absolutely love it there.
February 2026
Watercrest Buena Vista is a beautiful community that provides great care and service to all their residents. I love that someone can start at independent living and move to assisted living or memory care if it's ever needed. It has beautiful amenities and a great management team who ensure confidence and accountability. I refer my clients to them often and with confidence!

My grandmother is on the waitlist and she’s very excited to move there. It is such a beautiful place and everyone we have met there is super nice. My family and I are very impressed!!
December 2025
I have been so impressed with this facility. We toured several different ones and until Watercrest Buena Vista, none were the right fit for what my father and I were looking for. They have assembled an amazing team of dedicated and caring staff. They have a friendly caring staff, spacious apartments with nice amounts of storage space, nice outdoor space in memory care, the environment is much more like home and apartments than any of the others we looked at, especially in memory care. It feels like a community with ambassadors to help with new residents in assisted living. Both my mother and father are now living there and to say we had a rocky go of it is an understatement, but it was all on our side with my Dad. And through it all the entire staff was so amazingly caring, understanding, accommodating, and even supportive to my husband and I through all that we went through. It was extremely difficult but I cant imagine how much worse it would have been if we hadn't made the decision to pick Watercrest before chaos happened and they hadn't been a part of helping my parents through this difficult transition. Most impactful have been Nicole, Denise, Joe, Melissa, Taylor, Zion, and Brittany but also all of the staff in Memory Care who have all been so helpful and caring with my parents.

Great place feels like im on a cruise
September 2025
Kristy did a great job of giving us a feel for the place, it is quite impressive. we are looking forward to seeing the one and two bedroom apartments.
August 2025
I started this hand I don't do very good with texting on the small phone I will try again it was the fact that when we had the appointment there was two other people that were also they had been there before new people and stopped to talk which is fine showed the friendliness of the staff. I personally felt that the leader or the representative was rushing and it was like well here's the closet here's this but by the time for people got in and out she was ready to go out the door or you didn't really get to look because to go out the door next paragraph I did have a chance to ask questions but it would have been also been nice to have had the floor plans of at least the apartment or some general information about the facility before you toured I waited almost 3 weeks for the tour

As a Get Active Coach for IL, I see problems in management and culture that you can’t see on the surface of this senior living facility. Despite the community’s luxurious amenities and high costs for residents (e.g., assisted living from $4,800/month ), internal dysfunction severely impacts staff and residents. Below is a breakdown of the key issues I had to deal with in the short time I was there. 1. Toxic Leadership and Management Failures -[name removed] (Manager) Exhibits aggressive, manipulative behavior, including last-minute schedule changes to sabotage programs and create confusion. - Fabricates data (e.g., fake classes & attendance) to impress executives, then denies instructions when confronted. - Takes credit for others’ work and punishes high performers, fostering a culture of fear. She will be the reason why you hate your job. - [name removed] (Executive Director) Avoids accountability by dodging meetings (e.g., calling in sick during critical periods) and dismissing resident complaints as "high school" gossip. - Fails to address repeated complaints about [name removed] from both staff and residents, suggesting negligence or complicity. - HR Neglect. Basic requests (e.g. getting the code to change VM go unresolved, and serious concerns are ignored, leaving employees without recourse. 2. Workplace Sabotage and Lack of Support - [name removed] (Activities Coordinator) Undermines teamwork by complaining excessively and spreading rumors to discredit colleagues who earn resident approval. -Training and Structure. Rushed training with no follow-up support, leaving staff unprepared. Residents noted improvement under my leadership (e.g., a class of 20 participants, the largest in recent memory), yet management failed to capitalize on my success. 3. Resident Impact - Despite paying premium fees ($6,000–$8,000/month for care), residents face disorganization and unaddressed complaints due to high turnover (e.g., frequent changes in Get Active Coaches & Activities coordinator). - I observed that the facility’s reputation in full capacity is sustained only by exceptional non-management staff such as the maintenance team run by Joe, Sales (Nicole & Kristy), move in coordinators(sorry, I forgot your two names back there 😬, but you girls know who you are), the Chef and his staff, and the Dinning Room Coordinator. You are the backbone and the heartbeat of this building. 4. Systemic Cultural Problems - Leadership Prioritizes Appearance Over Substance. Managers focus on "looking good" for executives rather than solving real issues. -Fear-Based Environment. Employees are expected to remain silent ("be a puppet") or face retaliation. Which leads to patterns of toxic workplaces where dissent is punished. 5. Call for Accountability - I am to alert higher leadership (e.g., Watercrest’s CEOs) to intervene. The facility’s marketing emphasizes "exceptional care" and "resort-style service" , but my experience reveals a stark contrast in daily operations. Recommendations for Improvement 1. Independent Audit - Watercrest’s corporate team should investigate management practices at Buena Vista, focusing on resident complaints and staff turnover. 2. Whistleblower Protections - Establish anonymous reporting channels to protect employees who expose misconduct. 3. Leadership Training - Replace or retrain managers like [name removed] and [name removed] on empathy, transparency, and conflict resolution. Conclusion There is a critical gap between Watercrest’s marketed ideals and its reality. The Villages is promoted as a paradise for active seniors, but toxic management can tarnish even well-resourced communities. My passion for the residents and program potential is obvious, and this review serves as a vital wake-up call for systemic reform. For future employees, cover yourself, and document interactions to protect against gaslighting. For Watercrest, it’s a mandate to align their practices with their promises. I might just open a senior gym. A life well-lived in The Villages can be as relaxing or active as you’d like but only if leadership enables it.

We seriously considered two different assisted living facilities and were very impressed with both of them. While we ultimately decided the other one was a better fit for my mother, I would not hesitate to recommend Watercrest. It is a pleasant environment, well located, and reasonably priced. I especially liked the abundance of natural light and places to sit outside. All the residents we spoke with said they loved it there, and we enjoyed a delicious meal after our tour. Excellent facility, and probably the best in The Villages.
May 2025
My husband has been there a little over a week and I am extremely pleased with Watercrest Buena Vista. The staff is caring and make sure my husband was clean, fed and included in activities. Nurses administer medications, which is important to me I would highly recommend this facility.

Been here 3 years and loved every day of it. Plenty of activity. Food is good. And the residents are super friendly. The staff is willing to adapt to what you need. I feel like the facilities are the nicest in The Villages. I could go on and on. I am fortunate to be apart of this community. It's all been terrific from Kristy who gave us our first tour to Joe who takes care of all of your needs, Tonya at the bar who makes everyone happy and Irene who is the glue.

Taylor in Memory care is amazing! It gives me and my family peace of mind to know we have such devoted care staff dedicated to our parent’s well being. All around a fantastic nurse!!!!
May 2024
I had the honor of visiting that facility last year. A close acquaintance of mine is employed there, and I was truly captivated by their exceptional approach in caring for the elderly. They offer a comprehensive range of services, including three distinct levels of independent living, ensuring the residents remain involved and occupied in a variety of stimulating activities. Additionally, their commitment to providing top-notch care extends to their Assisted Living and Memory Care programs, which I would personally consider a source of great pride for my own parents.

I have relocated several families to many places. I will say that Watercrest Senior Living Buena Vista has always been the Senior Living Facility of choice. I had two separate family’s scheduled to move out of state after selling their Village Home.. I reached out to them and just asked if they would at least take a tour at Watercrest with Nicole well both families decided to move in. Watercrest Senior Living is now their home, and they are loving every minute. The place is absolutely gorgeous. All I hear from my families is how much they love it, there is so much to do, how nice the staff is, and on and on. As a matter of fact we tried to finish a job there and it took 2 weeks because my clients were Too Busy enjoying their new home to stay in their place and let us finish. We follow up with all our customers and all I can say is, I get nothing but smiles. Looking to downsize and need a new home in The Villages? I suggest giving a call to Watercrest Senior Living a call. You will be glad you did.
August 2023
The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The memory care director Mikaela brings in great entertainment for the residents. The facility is always clean and the residents seem very happy.
August 2023
I have to take the time to give proper thanks to the staff at Watercrest Buena Vista ! They are simply the best and appear to just keep getting better and better with time. The level of care and love that they treat every single one of the customers I have referred over to them has simply been off the charts ! Stop by and ask for Nichole she will welcome you like a friend and you will leave feeling like a family member. I promise you will not regret taking a tour of this fabulous facility. 🙂
August 2023
I just moved my mother to Watercrest Buena Vista Memory Care. She had been in another Memory Care facility and the price kept going up and the quality of care going down. Mikaela, the director of Memory Care has been great! Mom was greeted on her first day with a red carpet celebration and welcome. Ive met several of the workers and observed other workers and there is a real compassion and care of the residents. Mikaela is very involved in the day to day activities and the facility is clean and very homey. I highly recommend this memory care facility and I am very thankful I was able to give my mom a true home to live in. Shelly Campbell
August 2023
After the sudden death of my Uncle we had to move my Aunt into a memory care facility & get this done within a very short amount of time. We also live out of state. The staff at Watercrest Buena Vista was so helpful and comforting for what we had to do. Mikaela S is a rockstar. She has made my Aunts transition into the memory care environment seamless. My Aunt is thriving bc of Mikaela's kindness, knowledge & patience, which encompasses all of the staff. Having to have someone you love need specialize care that you cannot provide is heartbreaking. Watercrest Buena Vista has eased our concerns with constant open communication with the staff & with our beloved Aunt. Thank you to all
August 2023
I had a chance to visit the Watercrest Buena Vista Senior Living community. My dad has been struggling with needing more assistance and transitioning out of his home. This community was the third stop of my day and honestly, I figured my visit would be the same as the other communities I had visited. After spending time with the sales team seeing the beautiful community, I had the opportunity to meet with each of the directors to hear how they would be able to help my dad and support him on his journey. It was so refreshing to hear their approach. They embraced his individuality when discussing what his day-to day could look like. how he would be able to enhance his everyday life instead of trying to sell me on how they offer bingo everyday at 3:00. My dad doesn’t even like bingo. From the Executive Director to maintenance team, everyone took the time and interest to learn about me and family. Thank you Watercrest for assisting me make this hard decision to move my dad. He will be in great hands!

My friend Gayle has lived at this facility for a while. The care and love they give to their residents, specifically in Memory Care is undeniable. I have had family at other facilities and the staff here, specifically Mikaela S. (Director of memory care) really do care about the health, well-being and joy of her residents.
August 2023
Mikaela and her staff did a phenomenal job making an extremely stressful situation go as smoothly as possible. We moved my Dad (a Vietnam vet) into their memory care unit yesterday and they rolled out the red carpet treatment, literally. Making him feel like family. It was awesome and made our family feel confident we made the correct choice for our Dad. We know he is in great hands. Thank you Watercrest Buena Vista
August 2023
My dad needed a memory care facility and we choose Watercrest Buena Vista. We absolutely made the right decision. Every step of the way, we were greeted with kindness, understanding and empathy. We visited a couple facilities in the area but decided on Watercrest Buena Vista for several reasons. We really liked the set up of the Memory Unit. All residents are on one floor with comfortable common areas that had a resort feel. The meals and activities look amazing and would appeal to my dad's likes and interests. The staff (Kristy, Julie and Mikaela) have been so accommodating, friendly and helpful that we never doubted our decision. My dad was welcomed to his new home with a red carpet ceremony that he LOVED! He is a veteran and he was honored and respected. We can tell he is in good hands!
August 2023
Such a lovely place. The staff is really great. I like all the fun things they do with the residents, the Memory Care Unit really goes above and beyond. Ask for a tour. The grounds are beautiful and their events are fantastic.

My husband resides in Memory Care @ Watercrest Buena Vista. His dementia had progressed to a point where I could no longer safely care for him. Mikaela is the new memory care director at Watercrest Buena Vista. She is enthusiastic, Creative, compassionate & caring. She & the caring staff treat the residents like they are family. My husband is kept engaged in numerous activities that include, music, excercise, art projects and games. He is sometimes taken on a road trip via a Van or a golf cart. Entertainment is sometimes brought in for the residents enjoyment! I received an email about the activities he has participated in each day . Sometimes pictures are included. The residents are well fed and dine at small clothes tables with cloth napkins. I am so relieved to have my husband in the hands of such caring people, while living at such a nicely appointed and well run facility. I highly recommend Watercrest st Buena Vista .
March 2023
Very recently I and my family had the extreme pleasure of meeting Kristy B. and touring Watercrest Buena Vista. What a wonderful young woman! She was very compassionate, knowledgeable and attentive throughout our couple of visits. It would be hard to match her competency in this position! Highly skilled! In addition, Jennifer, the Executive Director was equally compassionate and truly exhibited her love for these residents and this Senior living industry overall! It was a very hard decision for my mother & family, but she decided on a facility closer to our home. We loved touring and sense that the residents were happy and 'thriving'! Well Done to all who have worked hard to make this a special home for Seniors!

My mom was not happy with the independent living facility she was in, so we went to WaterCrest and took a tour with Kristy who was absolutely amazing. She was so welcoming and friendly. The facility was bright and cheerful, and the residents all seemed to be extremely happy. Kristy was very patient and understanding and took the time to answer all of our questions. Right then and there my mom decided to move to the WaterCrest and it’s been the best decision she’s made. She loves all of the staff and residents and feels right at home. Thanks to Kristy
November 2022
I visited watercrest today from Orlando to visit a friend who just moved in...and WOW! Things are different in the villages. I was greeted by sky high open ceilings, bar services, and friendly faces. I share a perfectly cooked cheeseburger and fries with my friend before leaving, A+. I look forward to visiting my friend more often.

November 2022
One of my favorite communities in The Villages. The team does a great job keeping The Villages lifestyle alive with great food, entertainment, activities, ambiance, and more. Ability to move from independent living, to assisted, to memory care if the need arises is a huge plus.
November 2022
This facility from the start was accommodating to our family for both parents, who had to be in two different units due to their particular needs. We can't say enough good things about the exemplary staff in all areas of Watercrest Buena Vista. It is top-notch!
November 2022
Hi, my name is Karen Kuzma. I want to take time to share my recent experience at Watercress Buena Vista, The Villages, FL. My mom was diagnosed with Dementia. My stepfather was struggling as a caretaker. I live in Pennsylvania but was fortunate to be able to travel and try to assist as much as I could. When things became too much and my stepfather reached out for help, I traveled south and researched assisted living and/or memory care facilities. I met Kristy Brown at Watercrest. I was so impressed by the time she took to take me on two tours and lay out all of the information we needed to know. As time proceeded, Kristy continually kept in contact with my stepfather and myself. Everything was arranged for my mother's potential arrival, including moving all of her belongings. Unfortunately, my stepfather got cold feet and my mother never got the chance to benefit from an amazing facility, as she passed two months later. Amazingly, Kristy continues to reach out with caring words and encouragement. I highly recommend Watercrest Buena Vista to anyone looking for Senior Living. To end my thoughts, I was so impressed by the atmosphere and the care I witnessed the residents receiving. God Bless all.
November 2022
What a beautiful place for seniors to live! Staff always warm and attentive! 5 STARS!!
November 2022
Very caring staff and lots of fun activities. Popular bands hold monthly concerts.
November 2022
My client stayed at Watercrest during his treatment program at our clinic and was over the top impressed! It is a long stay if 4 months and they were in from Europe and in need of housing. Kristy was amazing making the arrangements and their stay comfortable. The staff was welcoming. They said it felt like home and would highly recommend.
November 2022
Watercrest Buena Vista is the cleanest, nicest and friendliest community I have been in. They have so many fun activities for their residents and everyone there is so kind. I love going when they have concerts and meeting all there residents. Everyone is so happy there and it’s a great place to be. Not to mention their care goes above and beyond for residents and families!

Met with Matt today. Matt is the Executive Director. He was most helpful in getting my brother back to Memory Care from the Hospital. Thank you Matt.

Main reason is that entertainment has been cut by half and that leaves a lot of residents staying in their apartments.
October 2021
All new staff. No Dir. Of nursing, no covid physer or flu vaccine injection updates. ALF bored with the same activities each week. No outside people doing special activity except music 1x week. Bored watching TV exercise and trivia.

Phil and I have been at Elan Buena Vista Independent Living for about six weeks. All but one of those weeks have been spent mostly in our apartment because of COVID-19. Everyone has been vaccinated now with the two doses, so hopefully that’ll take care of the lock down. Tomorrow everything opens back up. We’ve been having all our meals delivered to us, which is quite nice, but it’ll be fun to socialize now at mealtime in the beautiful dining room. There are loads of activities right here, as well as all the regular rec center offerings we know and love. We can choose to be as involved as we’d like. In fact, we feel just like we felt 20 years ago when we moved to The Villages. This is just a smaller, more exclusive Disneyland for adults, inside the huge Disneyland for adults. I know we’ve just moved in, but we know we love it here. It was definitely the right move at the right time for us. We enjoy luxury cruises. This feels exactly like a luxury cruise to us. Our apartment is beautiful with so much sunlight. The food is excellent and varied and homemade. The staff goes out of their way to be gracious and helpful. Everything is done for us, and everything is included in the one monthly rental. Everything! Home ownership was great, but this is perfect for us at this stage in our lives. The freedom this allows is awesome.
