For six years, my mother was a very happy resident at the Weatherly Inn in Tacoma. She recently passed away at the age of 101. The Weatherly staff was so respectful, thoughtful, considerate, and compassionate when and after my mother quietly passed away in her sleep. Her health was generally good, but when issues arose, the Weatherly staff were quick to spot them, alert the family, and help arrange for her to get medical assistance. During one episode, the doctors were reluctant to honor my mother's POSLT (Portable Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) form, pushing for no treatment (no medical treatment, hydration, or food) and offering comfort treatment only. We insisted that the form be honored that required food and medical treatment but no "heroics" (my words, not the term in the form), because that is what my mother chose. She could have chosen the option that the doctors were pushing. But she did not make that choice. The doctors reluctantly released her, but only if she was in Hospice care at the Weatherly. So, she returned to the Weatherly under Hospice care, and the Weatherly was delighted to have her return. The family had to be with her at each meal to feed her because she could not feed herself. The staff would happily and eagerly do the same when family members were not available. She gained enough strength to feed herself and continued to feed herself to live for another few years. The Hospice staff terminated my mother's care because she was living a normal life for someone in her late nineties, approaching one hundred. We believe she lived another two or three years because of the Weatherly staff. They extended her life long enough for my mother to meet her only great granddaughter whose births were one hundred years apart. The food in the Weatherly dining room food quality was excellent as well, with the kitchen staff and servers willingly providing meals. They learned what my mother preferred, and they would assure her preferred food was available to her. At times, they might suggest that my mother try a different meal if it were something they thought she would like, knowing the other foods that she enjoyed. I think they did that so that my mother would not tire of eating the same meal each day, knowing that experiencing different meals would remove the boredom of eating. The kitchen has a chef and not just a cook, so the dishes for the residents were more creative in the dining room rather than that of a cafeteria. Both the administrators and the staff were so good to her and us as family members. They smiled, remembered our names, and were extremely friendly. It is truly the little things as well as those expected of the facility that really set our experience apart. Staff that did not seem to share those characteristics (and we found them to be the outliers) did not last long at the Weatherly. We can either assume that those individuals were not able to meet those expectations, or they refused to meet those expectations. The staff have physical jobs, lifting residents into and out of chairs, beds, wheelchairs, toilets, and showers. They have great patience with residents who are moody and grumpy, and resist food, dressing, exercise, or medication. But they are pros who help willing and unwilling residents --- who may not want their help --- accomplish their daily tasks. We visited other facilities before deciding on the Weatherly, and we saw staff at some locations who acted more like drill sergeants, verbally or physically forcing the residents to do what was "good for them." At the Weatherly, we experienced a staff who found gentle and compassionate ways to gain cooperation. If we were faced with choosing a facility again, we would choose the Weatherly Inn without hesitation.

I lived in southern California when due to health problems I had to move. I picked Tacoma because that's were my younger sister lives. My sister searched many care facilities throughout Tacoma and she decided on the Weatherly Inn. I arrived in late December not knowing what to expect. Well I have not been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and will bend over backwards for you. I had a few problems with my room and they took care of them right away. The room is great the decore and the grounds are beautiful and always clean. The food is really good with many selections on the menu every meal. The other residents are friendly and love to share stories. All in all its a great place for me it has a family feel. Oh also what I like is the many activities both on site and off. Monday are the scenic drives and Friday are our outing to local grocery stores. During the midweek we go to restaurants or parks or other local attractions. Great place.

My sister and I have a long-term, 20 years in fact, association with The Weatherly Inn, an assisted-living facility here in Tacoma, WA – she as a resident and I as a daily visitor. Over the years, the Weatherly staff and Carol and I have bonded as a family. Surprisingly, a core of the Weatherly staff worked there as long or nearly as long as Carol did. Always, there was a core staff that knew Carol and me which helped us both to navigate Carol's evolving needs over the 20 years. When you are a caretaker of a family member, you really appreciate the smiles, the waves of recognition from landscapers, receptionists, maintenance crew, dining staff, health center staff, activities personnel, administrators, and especially the Weatherly residents who engaged with Carol and me over the years. This is a 2 star place. Everything in here is 40 years old. They have small METAL garbage cans instead of light plastic ones. They should get larger plastic garbage cans for rooms. Plastic would be easier for seniors to lift Their landline phone is an extremely heavy 50 year old super large business phone . They need to upgrade to lite trimline plastic landline phones. I do not recommend this place.

My mother and I chose The Weatherly Inn as her place of residence several years ago as she entered the latter phase of life. It was located near her neighborhood in Tacoma and she knew a couple other friends who resided there. Weatherly Inn is a family run business where the staff places emphasis on treating residents with dignity, quality of life, and care for them as individuals. The facility is well maintained and features dining rooms, activity areas, library, hair salon, nice landscaping with trees and flowering bushes, and more. Care providers and nursing staff are very attentive to residents, and keep extended family members and Guardians well informed on their being. Weatherly Inn has allowed my mother to progress in residency and care from assisted living to now memory care level within the same facility, providing continuity of life without disruption. While the pandemic period was very difficult for everyone, Weatherly Inn management, administrative, nursing, and care staff did an outstanding job supporting medical testing and working to keep residents and staff safe and healthy. If you or a loved one is contemplating a transition to assisted living and long-term care residency, I would highly recommend arranging a visit and tour of The Weatherly Inn or their sister sites.

Mom moved to the Weatherly after she could no longer fully take care of herself in independent living. At first she needed little help and enjoyed having some independence under the watchful eye of the caring staff. As her memory declined, and as she needed more and more care, she progressed from assisted living to memory care, the staff has continued to be very supportive and caring of her over the years. When COVID hit and I could visit less often, I felt with the utmost confidence that she was in good hands. Now she's 107 and continues to enjoy the best care possible for which we are most grateful. Before my aunt moved into the Weatherly, we toured nearly all the Assisted-Living places in and around Tacoma. We are so happy to have decided on the Weatherly! It’s important to compare not just the price but also compare what is included and excluded in the monthly fee. I feel that the Weatherly is very reasonably priced; especially for all the amenities that are included. The atmosphere is very home-like and does not have the feel, smell or look of an institution. They have many activities that seem to be very popular with the residents. The staff have been kind, cheerful, helpful and considerate to my aunt who is now 94 and has very limited vision. They address her by name and are helpful when they see that she appears to need assistance. The Weatherly is uniquely wonderful. My Aunt and I refer to the Weatherly as "The Resort" 🙂 I hope this review helps with your decision when looking for an Assisted Living home.

My Alzheimer's husband absolutely thrives at Weatherly Memory Care. He interacts with all the people, plays games, eats well all in all literally in love with the staff. He goes three days a week right now, but we know it will become a permanent thing soon and he will be ready already feeling at home. Guess the tale is Memory Care can help make a person feel alive again, and they have done that for my husband.

The Weatherly Inn has a nice boutique feel. The decor is comforting and stands out compared to other assisted living communities because of its unique antique design. Additionally having an on-site RN is unique to the Weatherly Inn. Monica gave me a tour when I visited and her knowledge and dynamic with the residents was genuine.

The Weatherly is a a beautiful place. It has a great location to start with. The neighborhood is quite which makes walking around the facility a pleasant activity to do, especially during spring time when all the flowers bloom. Residents and staff are great! They are always up to something fun and entertaining while offering the best health and mental care for the residents. There are many activities going on throughout the day with my favorite ones being the Outdoor Happy-Hours and the Live Music Socials!I highly recommend this place for your loved ones!

How fortunate Ive been to spend 14 years working with residents and staff at Weatherly Inn prior to my retirement last year! Truly it is a wonderful environment where residents, their families, and staff share a warm sense of home and family. Longevity of staff - some with nearly 30 years of dedicated service - help provide a sense of stability and familiarity. Once residents come to Weatherly Inn everyone works to help them feel welcomed and appreciated. This continues through the final transition phase and even afterwards when celebration of their life is often held at Weatherly Inn.

The workload is very manageable, the residents are happy and pleasant to work with, your fellow employees are caring, trustworthy, and work as a team well. Absolutely love the Weatherly Inn and Staff. Extremely clean and well designed. My father and mother lived there since 2012 and the experience was compassionate, caring and genuine. When my father was experiencing his final days, the staff set up space for me in his room to stay 24, 7. I recommend the Weatherly Inn without reservation or concern.
