This is a lovely place to live! Very cozy and comfortable. Set in a quiet residential area surrounded by beautiful mature trees. The staff are kind and friendly, and the activities provided foster camaraderie and fun for the residents. Every New Year's Eve (A 20 year tradition) they put on a fancy Steak & Lobster dinner with 1st rate live entertainment! Entertainment is also provided during the year as well.

As a resident for over 20 years, I am grateful for River Glen. My greatest appreciation is for the quality of residents in the townhomes. Most of whom I called my friends. We have a nice selection of activities from Bridge to gardening to going to see plays and musicals. The facilities are well cared for. I appreciate the location being on a major bike path as well as 2 parks close by. One park has activities for seniors. The staff is currently very caring and responsive to residents needs.

My husband and I have known River Glen (formerly Delnor Glen) since my mother lived in “the big house” many years ago—we liked it then and still do. So one year ago we moved here to a townhome. We like the small community, exceptional staff, capable maintenance guys, and freedom from taking care of a house. All combined they create a warm, lively, and caring community, one that feels natural and sincere, and where every person belongs. We hear the rumor mill continues to grind anecdotes from the past, but things around here have changed—the new director has this place humming. We love our roomy townhome, congenial staff and neighbors, beautiful campus, space for gardening, easy access to parks and trails for us and our grandkids, and the array of social and educational opportunities every month for over a hundred souls. The only downside is that we keep forgetting how old we are and tend to try to do too much--otherwise, River Glen suits us to a "T".

I have toured River Glen & attended the annual ice cream social. My sister has worked there for several years so I am more aware of what the community of River Glen has to offer. The facility is welcoming, beautiful apartments (love the screened in porches & gardens!) and most important the staff goes above and beyond to provide a safe and warm environment for all of their residents. They provide many activities for the residents & their families to enjoy throughout the year. Sometimes when I am meeting my sister after work and I arrive before she can leave, I love sitting in the common area by the front entrance and chatting w/ the residents. I can tell they really like where they live & are very happy @ River Glen.

River Glen of St Charles is a beautiful independent & assisted living senior community I had the pleasure of touring! I took my aunt there for a delicious lunch and we met with the very friendly staff. We picked out an absolutely beautiful townhome for my aunt after we met with the activity director, Karen and sales director, Claudine. They were both so kind and my aunt knew she would be comfortable and happy there after downsizing from her home after my uncle passed away recently. The townhomes are luxurious, and my aunt loves the sense of community it provides. She has already met some of her friendly neighbors. I love the fact she will receive help with maintenance as well. This gem is nestled in a beautiful setting close to my home and I feel a sense of relief for my aunt as I met the kind and caring staff and residents at River Glen of St Charles. Definitely 5 stars!!

I toured the beautiful community the other day and my favorite part of the tour was the homes they are beautiful and HUGE for family gatherings during the holidays, the community has Independent living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. A very good family friend recently moved to River Glen assisted living as a respite care resident for 30 days until the family could find a live in caregiver. After 2 weeks there he asked if he could stay permanently! I spent a lot of time with him over the past few years and I have never seen him as happy as he is now. When he was home he wasn’t motivated to do much more than play on his computer and take naps. Getting him to participate in anything else was always a struggle. Now he is quite the social butterfly! There are numerous activities for him to participate in and he does. I have been a private duty caregiver for over 20 years and have worked with clients in facilities in the past and believe me, I have seen some pretty awful places. When I went to River Glen for the first time I was extremely impressed. The entire staff there is amazing! They are always smiling and seem to love working there which says a lot. I am now retired and if I were ever unable to live independently I would want to live at River Glen.

River Glen Assisted Living is such a wonderful hidden gem in a beautiful neighborhood in downtown St. Charles near Pottawatomie Park. Jena, Claudine, and John-Michael genuinely care about the residents here as if they are family. Rebecca and the Life Enrichment team do a great job keeping residents busy and fulfilled with creative, generationally appropriate activities. They also have onsite therapy with Legacy Healthcare that is better than most rehab facilities in the area. Mark, the Rehab Director, is full of energy and has a great team of dedicated therapists ready to assist the residents with their needs, keep them healthy and living life to its fullest. For these reasons, River Glen would be my top choice in the area for seniors looking to enjoy life in a stress-free, caring environment.

The staff at River Glen is very caring and many have been there for years. The nurses keep family informed of any changes in health or well being. Activities are offered to keep residents engaged if they choose and the coordinators are warm and friendly. Most importantly I felt my mother was safe. The facility is well appointed and very comfortable. There are outside areas which is a nice option to relax in during the good weather. The only possible negative is the food. I have no experience but my mother said it could be better.

I have nothing but good things to say about River Glen! My father currently has an assisted living apartment in the community. I love the structured and friendly environment. When dad is not out of the building I like the options that he has...lovely environment both inside and outside the grounds. Lots of places to sit and visit or walk around. River Glen is always brightly lit and the residents very friendly. I love knowing my dad can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily with a side menu option. It is also great knowing dad has some choices and I always see the staff smiling too. I highly recommend River Glen for your loved one.

I've visited countless homes in the area through volunteerism and being with relatives, and I feel River Glen is the premier assisted living facility in the area and by far the best-kept secret in the Fox Valley. It is truly a hidden gem among all assisted living facilities and one you absolutely must visit. The excellent and professional care you'll find here from the dedicated staff members and the medical team is second to none. Amy Pedone and the rest of the quality staff members will move mountains to ensure your loved one feels right at home from the moment they move in. How do I know? Amy and fellow staffer, Vanessa, literally helped my husband and I move my dear friend Mary into River Glen last August during the pandemic. Without family around to help her move, Amy went above and beyond to deliver a comfortable and cozy apartment, even personally driving a truck to Mary's house and loading it full of her belongings. Not only was this an unbelievably kind gesture, due to Mary experiencing a sudden and unexpected injury, somehow Amy managed to get Mary moved in immediately...on a single day's notice! This outpouring of care and compassion has continued throughout Mary's entire residency at River Glen, with the ultimate goal to be an extension of her family. Amy and the entire staff have made it their mission to create a caring home where it is easy for residents like Mary to build connections, develop relationships, and be happy. This scaled-down, comfortable community in a picturesque setting delivers on all counts, including its amazing food! Through my friend, Mary, I personally have experienced tenderness and love from this entire River Glen staff. Like Mary, I am happy to say I've developed friendships here that will last a lifetime. ORIGINAL POST Sept. 2020 I helped move my elderly friend into assisted living at River Glen just two weeks ago as she was no longer able to live in her home alone. From the moment Amy and her exceptional staff knew of her needs she was cared for in a way I didn't know possible and the attention far exceeded all expectations. My father had been in another assisted living facility for 2 years but was declining over the last 6 months. COVID isolation and turning 92 took a toll on him. After two hospital stays then rehabilitation and skilled nursing, I took the advice of a friend and looked into River Glen. After only a month, my wife and I are amazed at how good he looks now. During a recent video call, he actually said, "I like this place." He has never said that before. The care and attention he receives has made all the difference in the world. My mother in law went here in September 2020.It's an absolutely amazing place.It really is special.From the directors,staff,nurses,aides,caregivers,maintanence-they are all top of the line.They also offer hospice which she used.Hospice was fabulous also.Her level of care and the attention she received was incredible.We would absolutely recommend this facility big time.We were so lucky to find them and be able to get in.Their communication and responsiveness is examplry.Thanks to all at River Glen for her stay and care.

Note: Writing a review is something that I don’t often do; in fact, I cannot remember the last time or even if there was a last time. With that being said, writing a review is something to be taken seriously and the fact I have been inspired to write a review is special for me. Having my mother living at River Glen of St Charles has given me something worthy to write about. Walking through the front door of River Glen of St Charles feels like walking into someone’s house, a comfortable and friendly space that is a clean, warm environment. The dining room is comfortable with a flare of elegance which provides a perfect atmosphere for residents to enjoy delicious food that is selected by the resident and served to them at their table. The living space is nice but what makes the living arrangements a step above is the high level of care that is given from the very competent staff, the administration, caregivers, maintenance, housekeeping, dining, and everyone else that contributes to a resident’s care. The staff treat the residents as family and treats the resident’s family with respect. The staff communicates regularly and meets with you when necessary to discuss your loved one’s care needs. Our mother lived in assisted living until she needed to transition to the memory care unit. It was a difficult emotional decision that was supported by the staff that helped us to make the transition in the most positive way. We knew our mother was well cared for and that is a tremendous comfort for us. Then Covid-19 presented the upmost challenge to all of us especially facilities like River Glen. No one knows for sure how you will react to a crisis such as Covid-19 but what we have experienced with River Glen is the staff has gone above and beyond to implement CDC practices and procedures for both the residents and the staff. Maintaining the resident’s health is surely most important but the staff also consistently uses creative ways to keep the residents happy, by providing activities, opportunities to exercise, and communicate with family via, phone, FaceTime and window visits. For family members, periodically emails are sent to keep families updated which allows transparency and gives us comfort knowing our families are being well taken care of. I would love to mention by name the staff that have been so helpful; but I would need to mention every single person who works there because at River Glen each position is a part of the whole team that provides excellent care and provides a healthy environment.

As a healthcare provider I visit this facility weekly and monthly with a Physician. This facility provides a home like atmosphere that instantaneously invites you in. The staff is not only bright and engaging but knowledgable. It is a rarity in my line of work to see the same faces, but the longevity of employment here is astounding. I find myself being drawn into the activites upon every visit. Be it painting, exercise, music or just coffee clutch by the fire there is always something going on and friends to be had. The rooms are quaint and homie and offer the privacy of your own apartment. Fully staffed nursing, aids, therapy staff and physicians aid in a wide variety of healthcare needs. The hair salon is uniquily designed to accomidate physical limitations. The private memory care is a secure area that is uniquely designed to provide a safe enviroment for residents while maintaining their dignity and autonomy. The residents are engaged in activties to maintain cognition and promote overall physical wellness. As a Nurse for 25 years who has worked in many Assisted Livings its a privilege to visit this facility and I often refer families to visit when looking for advance care for their loved one.
