My wife and I moved here in April 2026. I wish we would have done it four years ago when I was 62 and eligible. The maintenance-free lifestyle has given me such peace of mind to never worry about a repair again! They told me not to bring a hammer or screwdriver that I wouldn’t need it. They even have weekly maid service, they supply towels and remake the beds as well. The only bill we have besides our monthly fee is our cell phones. And the foodWOW. The menu changes weekly. There are 7-8 entrees and many sides. Soups change daily. Wine is served gratis on Sunday. The Chef is top notch and they want feedback on what we want to see on the menu. The dining room is gorgeous and everyone we invite to come here says it feels like eating in the dining room of a cruise ship. The LifeCare contract has given us peace of mind that as we age we are guaranteed care here at this location whether it is assisted living, memory care or skilled nursing. Also, when something happens with one of us the other will be supported by the Freedom Square community and systems in place. They offer free transportation all over Pinellas County and take regular trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, mall, etc. I wondered how I would do with the activities here because I’m only 66. Well, they are so varied and everyone has been so welcoming. My wife and I enjoy the fitness centers, large indoor pool and hot tub, we have a plot in the community garden, I work in the wood shop on my creations. We sit outside by the bird sanctuary then head over to the Black Swan bar and grill which is open early for breakfast and into the evening. They provide four charging stations for electric vehicles onsite. Right across the street is the Seminole City Center that has monthly concerts, car shows and other events besides restaurants/bars, movie theatre and shops. We also enjoy the many performing groups that come to Freedom Square. The monthly trips to the Casino in Tampa. Our apartment is HUGE with all the modern amenitiesnew kitchen, bathroom, flooring, paint, etc. We have a beautiful lanai off the living room where we enjoy sunsets. The process to move in could not have been made any easier. The marketing staff held our hands from start to finish making the move from our condos into Freedom Square as painless as possible. They stocked our fridge with food and drinks, brought by flowers. I just can’t say enough about their level of kindness and efficiency! The executive director is on a first name basis with the residents and is accessible any time even by cellphone should you need to speak with him. The move here has been a game changer for us. Best decision we ever made!!

This is the most fantastic, fantabulous place I could ever imagine having the privilege to stay! The food is fantastic! I've been here 2 weeks and have never had the same meal twice! I've lost 8 lbs. In 2 weeks water weight. Im a 67 year old woman on oxygen 24 hrs. A day. I was diagnosed to die soon from my lungs but live alone and broke an elbow and feel like they have added years to my life! Staff friendly, fantastic and very professional. One guy James who works the day shift has been here 25 years. Real sweetheart. Everyone all is. If you need rehab place, Ask your insurance co. My Mom stayed at Freedom Square for a few weeks of rehab earlier this year. I was thoroughly impressed with the team of staff at the facility and the engagement of management starting from the very top with the new Administrator, Jeff. He clearly has a handle on the details of the operations and how to expand the services provided at FS. The head of Nursing, Robin, is amazing and has a high capacity for closely monitoring the care being given across all the departments within FS. I was able to stay in contact with staff in a variety of areas during my Mom's stay, even into the evenings and weekends to get personal updates in addition to what I had access to via their portal. We had a few things come up along the way as can be expected but the team helping my Mom was extremely responsive and I believe this place will continue to offer great service. The rehab staff were very effective in getting my Mom to where she needed to be and they created a caring environment which made the experience a positive one. Everyone who came into my Mom's room was pleasant and seemed to genuinely care about helping patients. I'm confident FS will continue to get even better and better as time goes on.

Four months ago, my mother moved into Freedom Square. At age 92, with various health concerns (high blood pressure, hearing loss, etc.), and having lost my father to Parkinson's, it made sense to move. Now that she is there, she wishes she had moved sooner! Mom is quick to tell all of her friends "Don't wait to move like I did - move now while you can still enjoy it!". She has made so many new friends (the residents are super friendly), the staff is very caring, and there are many activities for fun and socialization. Her independent-living apartment (with a full kitchen) is lovely, bright and sunny, and feels brand new. Lunch and dinner are also available for residents in independent-living apartments. While the food is very good, be aware that some items on the menu can be high in sodium. To help with this, the cook staff do offer sauces on the side to reduce sodium content and take into consideration individual dietary concerns. Overall, VERY yummy and better than most restaurants! And no more worries about hurricanes! Freedom Square has generators, is in a no-evacuation zone, and has hurricane-safe windows in every unit. In the event of a hurricane, staff will move in and live on site to help as needed. Overall, Freedom Square is: friendly, responsive, caring, clean, well-managed, safe and where I would chose to live myself.

Freedom Square was built in two phases. I stayed in Phase 1 for a month while the unit I was assigned to in Phase 2 was repaired from hurricane damage. Folks, there is a huge difference between the two phases. On the surface, they are exactly the same; same decor, same dining menu. Had I stayed in Phase 1, I might still be there. The kitchen made all the difference. The servers would seat me with other diners. The food was well prepared. It was altogether a happier place. In Phase 2, I was seated alone, usually in front of a drafty door to the patio, which did not close completely. Sometimes, when I asked, they would sullenly place me at an inner ring table. Of about fifty tables, only ten would be full, at the end of the day. The food was horribly prepared. A filet mignon ordered medium rare appeared like a little black hockey puck. I noticed another diner ordered it. She quietly and slowly attempted to eat it. Chicken so tough a steak knife is offered with it. The people were nice enough, but they dined only with friends of longstanding. Management either knows or chooses to ignore what goes on in the kitchen. There is frivolity, paying little attention to cooking, food falls on the floor and is picked up, not discarded. I learned this first hand after I left. Joey, if you went to investigate, you would not witness this. You need to speak with servers from Phase 2 who have left. Only from them will you learn the truth. Do you ever question the reason for the frequent turn-over? Thoughts of Phase 1 are pleasant. Thoughts of Phase 2 still turn my stomach.

The orientation was smooth. The speakers were all so generous and welcoming. The building clean. Unit manager K. Taylor is a sweetheart understanding and excellent communication and manners. What I didn’t know which why would they tell you at orientation deep details on the residents you will be working with. Nothing wrong with the residents just I always thought ALF was people who does for self, or excessive help. I hurt myself because they have total dependent resident on that unit . The building has a skilled floor. Dependents residents who can’t stand needs machines for transfer not hulk hogan lifting dead weight. Over all I adore the resident sincerely. I got out of skilled nursing to give myself a break and ALF was perfect well I thought it was. This is my experience and truth.

I found Freedom Square through a Place for Mom. Michelle contacted me and I took my step-mother there for a visit. It is just lovely. I met and chatted with residents and they seemed to really like living there. After much consideration, she did agree to buy in. This assures she will be taken care of for the rest of her life. Although she is quite an introvert and does not want to be social, the staff has unknowingly become her family. She goes down for either lunch or dinner every day. The location is in a perfect spot. The facility is very well run and the staff have been a pleasure to work with. I understand this buy in type of program is not for everyone, but even if you only rent, I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed. I hope the type of service she’s receiving will continue through the rest of her life there! It gives me great peace of mind, knowing she’s happy and safe!

My husband and I moved to Freedom Square 2 years ago. This was the best decision we ever made. I no longer have to cook, clean or launder sheets and towels. I do have a beautiful kitchen if I ever get in the mood but that has yet to happen. The meals here are as good or better than any we had at local restaurants. Our apartment is spacious and we felt at home immediately. The staff is outstanding and the residents are friendly and outgoing. You can keep busy all day every day with a variety of activities if you choose to do so. When our children have visited they are amazed at the size of our apartment and the beautiful grounds. I am extremely pleased with FS assisted living and it's exceptional staff. From the get go, I knew my mother was going to be in good hands. Eric K (who is such a kind and caring individual) answered all of my questions before I could ask him. He treats everyone there as if they were his family. And that's a bonus in my book. I, unfortunately, don't know the names of everyone that has been involved with taking care of and helping my mom, but each and every one of them is fantastic. They makes sure she's taking her meds, dressing and eating. And the facility itself is a great place to live. There is always some sort of activity or entertainment, which keeps the residents occupied and social. They also have a nice outside village with a small restaurant, hair salon and Drs offices. There is also a lovely pond with ducks and Bella, the black swan. All in all, FS is an amazing facility with a kind and compassionate staff. I know my mother is safe and happy.

I’d like to send a great big, thank you to the staff in the Independence Bldg where my parents resided. After my mom passed suddenly, Wellness Center Director, Vicki, worked her magic to get my dad moved to the assisted living building in just a few days, which still seems impossible. My dad told me she just brought him a lamp (& crawled under the table to attach an extension cord & plugged it in) for his dining room table, which was the only thing missing, since he has such low vision, & couldn’t see his meals. We felt her caring, thoughtfulness, & kindness throughout our difficult week, & it is rare to find it,especially at this level nowadays. I’d also like to thank Nurse, Alice & Receptionist, Vanessa, for all they did for my parents. They are both exceptional at their jobs as well.

Merrilyn Toerner, director of Sales and Marketing is a five star human being. She handled my moms transition so smoothly. Her kindness, patience and understanding mannerisms were very comforting. She even took my call and handled my concerns while she was enjoying family time on her day off. We truly feel the love she has for the residents. Tee Jay in the dining room adds a very welcoming touch to everyone entering the dining room. He exudes joy and happiness. He makes sure all meals are prepared well and everyone leaves the dining room feeling well nourished and happy. The grounds are spotless. The buildings are very clean. Mom loves her apartment. The housekeeping staff are so kind and respectful. Thank you for providing a special place for mom and a place for us to visit her.

I found the Rehab facility to be somewhat depressing. It needs a cheerful environment which can be accomplished with bright paint in the corridors and rooms. There should be floral arrangements in the hallways and new tile or carpeting throughout. IOW. A complete renovation. The room my friend was in was not clean. People in rehab are not feeling well and this is the place for them to transition and get back to their condo. It’s important that their surroundings be cheerful and uplifting while they are getting maximum physical and occupational therapy so they can be independent again.

I work here as an RN. I have worked at 20 Skilled Nursing Facilities in Pinellas, & this is one of the best. It is a continuing care community with independent & assisted living, and rehab & memory care. It's expensive if u want to live here. The food is good, compared to other facilities.
