My parents moved to Freedom Plaza about 15 years ago. I can’t say enough good things about their experience there, as every interaction with staff “ maintenance/housekeeping, administration, kitchen/dining room, nursing, therapists, doctors, and In Home Services has been productive, courteous and caring. Mom died in 2023 and Dad continues to live in their apartment at 96. He does so in part because of his fierce independence, but primarily because of Freedom’s In Home Services team. As needed, these caregivers make coffee and breakfast, fix fruit snacks for lunch, and heat his dinner delivered from the main dining room, while tidying the kitchen and changing and washing his bedroom linens. Each IHS person that I have met has been caring and thoughtful about my father’s particular needs and wants. IHS has responded to our very specific requests for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, and for giving Dad his space. IHS now provides a staff member overnight. IHS plays a primary role in the quality of my father’s daily life and enables him to remain in his home.

The people, the resources, and the accommodations have been impressive! My Mom is very happy with the staff. The first night she was there we were apprehensive about leaving her, she was scared and uncertain, but over the last few days she has been in very good spirits and we have no concerns about leaving her now! The CNA caring for her during the day has been wonderful and all the nurses have been so caring!

I am a member of the golf course here and for the value of the membership it is great! The pro shop staff is awesome always accommodating to your needs, frequently bringing water around and always having coffee and drinks available. The course is challenging for a par 3/4 with water in every hole and trees as well..gotta hit it straight! Great course for the value!

Freedom Fairways has proudly partnered with the First Tee of Tampa Bay for the past three years, welcoming families to a warm and beautifully maintained golf course. During the school year, 224 young golfers attend monthly lessons, building skills and confidence in an encouraging environment. In the summer, Freedom Fairways expands its support even further by hosting 150 First Tee summer camp participants, giving kids a safe, vibrant place to learn and grow. We have a group of pickleball players of mixed levels of talent, who enjoy playing on the public courts, 5 days/week. We have become acquainted with many Freedom residents and have many new friends- not necessarily all pickleball players. It is a lovely area and well maintained. This was definitely one of my best decisions in my life was to move to Freedom Plaza. Here I have the solitude of my apartment. I have the ability to be with people anytime I choose. The friendship and camaraderie here cannot be expressed enough. Every time I eat here I feel as if I’m in a five star restaurant. I cannot even describe all the extras that Freedom Plaza offers. One of the biggest to me is driving me to appointments. Freedom Plaza drives you to appointments within a 30 mile radius. And then, of course there are all of the social opportunities that they offer. Because we have a A contract, my future care is taken care of and my children are relieved. My 102-year-old grandmother has called Freedom Plaza home for the past 12+ years, and she absolutely loves it. After my father passed away eight years ago, my stepmother moved here as well, and the two of them now live here together. It has been such a blessing to watch them both thrive. They have formed wonderful friendships, enjoy an active social life, and stay as busy as they choose. The food is excellent, and there is always something to look forward to. What truly sets Freedom Plaza apart, however, is its staff. Every single person we have encountered is exceptional. They take great pride in caring for the residents and making each one feel loved, valued, and respected. Their kindness, compassion, and dedication create a true sense of community. My MIL fell, broke her hip and needed to go to rehab. Her insurance (Humana) wanted to send her to some questionable facilities locally. Sun City Center is a decent drive away but after doing some research, I felt it was the best choice for her. I am very happy to say, they did an excellent job with her. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling. From the front desk to the cafeteria. The physical therapists, the nurses and everyone were always there to help and answer any questions we may have had.

Having been at Freedom Plaza 2 different times after several surgeries; I have had great care , wonderful food. the staff is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The one suggestion I have is that more help is needed as the staff is over worked because of being short staffed. We would recommend Freedom Plaza for anyone needing rehab.

I found the accommodations and service uniquely tailored to provide a variety of options for individuals' loved ones when deciding whether an assisted living or memory care facility would be a fit for those you love and care about most. I am intuitively always looking at every staff member's interaction with each person and I was so very pleased to see that everyone was engaged and caring at both facilities. Your facilities are certainly a place I would entrust my mom or those who are most special to me.

Lived here for many years. Knowing what I know now I would never choose this facility. Management has declined continuously since I moved in. Residents are not a priority. Rules are not enforced. Told years ago the carpet would be replaced but still waiting. Told years ago the dining rooms would be remodeled resulting in lower noise levels – still waiting. Resident costs have compounded but service has declined – thuds paying more for less.

A great place to live independently. Transportation is provided for an assortment of things if needed. There's a great variety of good food available, along with a golf course, tennis courts, pools, a gym, and walking trails. All sorts of activities are available to keep you busy. The apartments have new appliances, good heat and AC, and great views. Pets are allowed. All the folks here are extra friendly including the staff. The staff is large and super helpful. My wife and I have been here for two years, and the longer we're here, the better we like it - something we both say fairly often. I feel so fortunate that we found and chose this place rather some someplace else. The residents are friendly; I've never been so social in all my life. The staff is great. For one thing they're happy here. Some have been here since the place opened 30 years so, and it's not unusual for several family members to work in different places around the properties. The food is wonderful, offered in 4 different kinds of facilities from fine dining to a very casual grill. The fact that it's a continuing care facility is what attracted us in the first place. My husband and I have been familiar with Freedom Plaza since we moved to Sun City Center in 2008. We hoped to move in when the time was right. That happened two years ago. We are thrilled with all aspects of FP: apartments, amenities, continuous socializing, dining, activities, 24/7 EMTs, wellness, PT on site, and the unending opportunities for involvement through working committees. This CCRC is as good or better than expected. We use the medical/professional transportation. We appreciate Devon’s senior fitness opportunities when we aren’t golfing, swimming, playing pickle ball, table tennis. The staff is smiling, caring, and deserve their 5 star rating.

My father was a highly decorated U.S. Marine Corps Colonel who devoted 30 years of his life to serving this country with honor. In 2020, he and my mother paid over $200,000 to Freedom Plaza for what was promised to be a "Life Care" program--a commitment, we were told, to lifelong support, dignity, and compassionate care. Instead, what we received was betrayal, negligence, and a callous disregard for the very veterans they claim to champion. Freedom Plaza proudly markets itself as "The Premier Retired Officers Community," cloaking itself in patriotic branding and hollow respect for military families. That façade was a major factor in our decision. We believed that a facility that wrapped itself in the American flag would understand the unique needs of aging veterans. We were wrong. The so-called "premier" community turned out to be nothing more than a business hiding behind red, white, and blue window dressing. Over the years, I watched the cracks widen--high staff turnover, rampant miscommunication, and departments that operated in silos, indifferent to the basic coordination that elder care demands. Construction in critical care areas dragged on endlessly, creating chaos and instability for vulnerable residents. During Hurricane Milton in 2024, the facility's generators failed. Elderly, medically fragile residents were left without power or proper care, and Freedom Plaza's leadership showed no urgency, no accountability, and no shame. Still, we stayed. Still, I hoped. Still, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, believing--foolishly--that when it really mattered, they would show up. Then came my father's diagnosis: Lewy Body Dementia. Freedom Plaza admitted they had no experience with LBD, yet shoved him into memory care anyway. The mental health professional they brought in--a stranger with no understanding of his history--prescribed a cocktail of medications that made his condition worse, increasing agitation and outbursts. Freedom Plaza refused to coordinate with his longtime VA doctors, the very people who knew him best. But the final act of cruelty was unconscionable. While my father was hospitalized--his condition deteriorating from the facility's poor decisions--Freedom Plaza discharged him. They abandoned him. They evicted a dying veteran, just two months before his death, because he temporarily required more care than their broken system could offer. After years of engagement, loyalty, and open communication, Freedom Plaza responded not with compassion, but with cold indifference. They threw him away like a burden. Their "Life Care" program is a lie--a marketing ploy designed to lure families in with promises they have no intention of keeping. Freedom Plaza failed my father. They failed my mother. They failed me. But worse, they failed the very ideals they pretend to uphold--duty, honor, commitment. If you are considering placing your loved ones in this facility, look beyond the polished brochures and military slogans. Ask what happens when your loved one becomes inconvenient. Ask who they really serve--your family, or their bottom line. This is not a community. It is a corporation. And if you are expecting humanity, loyalty, or integrity, you will find none of it here.

I want to send a personal thank you again !! To Plaza West . First having a bed available for my husband. This is his second time and the care was just as spot on as his first time for re-hab. My husband has some up coming surgery and he needed nutritional and physical strength and as before they just did that., A facility that has kept their amazing staff speaks volumne and we were just as happy seeing them as they were with us. The profession and compassionate care got my husband where he needs to be for his future . Thank you, from the office getting the paper work part to get him back to your facility to your amazing Medical care staff, dietary for your amazing food and therapy department getting my husband back home in a great heath .

Plaza West Rehab maybe one of the best in Sun City Center and they are for sure award winners, but like any other medical, rehab place some very important things can be better. They leave my mom without water until we visit and ask for it. They put her on oxygen without the water bottle that her nose was so dry it was bleeding, they didn't make sure she swallowed her pills, I found one on her bedroom floor. Very important things go unnoticed with patients relying 100% on staff. The staff are super nice but they work very hard and they have too many patients to be able to provide better care. Management needs to hire more employees. I will be asking the Dr to send mom home and arrange for rehab at home. We are fortunate we have that choice, God be with those who don't.

I surveyed or visited a half dozen CCRCs in Tampa Bay area and found Freedom Plaza fit my needs best. I am one of the best sales persons for the GVT apartments. The apartment is roomy and closed car and golf cart garages come with as well as a climate controlled store room. There are 14 apartments in each GVT units and I lucked on one with great neighbors that are much like family. Residents in all Freedom are friendly and helpful. Meal are very good. Management of dining services and all of Freedom listen to us and respond.
