Reviews The Bridge at Hickory Woods

We have been residents here for over 3 years and considered this our home. The management and all the staff go out of their way to look after the well being of all the residents. The community has a lot of engaging programs and activities. The building is kept very clean and the food is amazing! I would recommend The Bridge to anyone looking for assisted living in the Nashville area! I would give them a 5* review

Please don't be deceived by a few smiling faces. The management has a high turnover rate. Some of the Aids fail to do their job and you have to beg them just to make a bed. The Aids will talk about your loved one's . My father has been here for several years and it has definitely declined. They don't return calls and make broken promises and will lie and in your face . Where is the integrity? They put will definitely not get what you pay for , it's just a nice facility and it's said it can't be ran properly . I feel bad when the residents tell me how unhappy they are . You will have to be present and do things that n your own if you want your parent needs meet and that's just not possible for some .

My mother is a resident and I cannot recommend this place enough. Everyone here is wonderful and caring and the building is beautiful. Give them a call if you are exploring assisted living options for your loved ones. This place is the best.

We have a family member who is at Bridges long term so we visit fairly often. There are lots of comfortable living areas inside and out. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We just attend a family dinner there and had a great time! I appreciate the activities available and the chance to enjoy them with our loved one.

Comfort Keepers is very glad to be partners with the Bridge! I have visited this facility many times observing the wonderful activities going on keeping folks busy and active. The staff here is very compassionate and caring. Bless you all for all you do!!!

We moved my 92 year old mom to The Bridge at Hickory Woods in September 2023. She had previously been living at a facility in independent living, but it had become increasingly apparent that she was beginning to need assistance. Your facility seems to check all the boxes, with the exception of the food. However, she is a very picky eater who would love to eat good, country vegetables every day with no meat. So I don't know how much of it is the food that is offered or her own preferences. But, let me say that the activities offered make up for the food. Lawrence and Margie work so hard every day to provide activities that stimulate and encourage the residents! I am so grateful for them and the love and care that they provide and show the residents. I am also thankful for the front desk staff (Barbara, Ollie, and Angie). They are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. They know the residents by name and are always willing to help. I cannot end this review without acknowledging the nursing staff on my mom's floor. They never fail to come to her aid no matter how big or small the problem is. I would recommend The Bridge at Hickory Woods to anyone needing this type of facility.

After my wife died almost a year ago in the Life Care center next door, I moved into the Bridge and lived there for 11 months. The physical facilities is outstanding with only one thing missing that you sometimes find in assisted living facilities that is a theater. Forest, Jansen, and Gina, who form the key leadership team do a very good job and communicate a lot of caring for the residents. Most of the time 'the trains run on time,' but anywhere you are, there will be those hiccups. I did not need the nursing staff but my interaction with them was always pleasant and encouraging. When I left a few weeks ago a good deal of transition was going on in regard to activity director so it will be interesting to see how all that plays out. Unless one went to a very upscale place, I think the Bridge would be as good place for you or your loved one as you will find if looking for assisted living. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend there.

I brought my mother to this wonderful community after researching a few other places and realizing that it is the best I’ve seen for the price. Not only does the Bridge have a very kind and genuinely helpful staff, the premises are lovely, clean and up to date. There is a lot of natural light from the many windows and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. My mom was not wanting to leave her home in NY, but she loves being at the Bridge and she is thriving in this community! She is a very active participant in the many daily activities offered and she has made some good friends that keep her younger than when she was by herself. I’m very happy with the Bridge and the improvement I see in my mom. I HIGHLY recommend this community.

Our mother has gotten spoiled since she moved in to the Bridge. Wonderful decision for our family at just the right time. They take great care of her and this helped us to streamline her care in many ways. I can't recommend them highly enough.

During the time I toured The Bridge at Hickory Woods I was impressed with the beautiful facility. I was also very impressed with the administrator Forest Dumont. He was very personable and professional and appeared very much appreciated by those who worked there as well as the residents. The staff were very friendly and appeared to very committed to the residents. When talking to several of the residents it was evident that they were very happy with staff and that they considered the Bridge a wonderful place to live at this time in their lives. They expressed that there were plenty of activities and enjoyable fellowship. I highly recommend The Bridge at Hickory Woods.

My parent moved to The Bridge about a month ago. Transitioning to a new living arrangement can be overwhelming but The Bridge has welcomed them with open arms. The property is simply beautiful and every member of the staff has made them feel like a part of the family. They are responsive and caring to any issues that can crop up when settling into a new home. We took months to tour, visit and interview various locations but ultimately we found the right place for them, The Bridge was worth the wait!

The Bridge at Hickory Woods is a beautiful community, not just aesthetically, but because of the associates who show up every day to serve the residents. The team is phenomenal! They are always smiling and going the extra mile to make sure everyone who enters feels like they are a part of the family. The Executive Director is hands on and spends time outside of his office interacting with the residents and staff daily. The whole management team is knowledgeable and passionate about senior care. The true beauty of this community is the individuals who work and live here.
April 2022
HONEST CUSTOMER REVIEW based on personal experience 12-5-21: I've learned that when touring any senior living community, it's sensible to ask specific questions about those aspects of assisted living that are most important to you (such as medication management, special dietary needs, transportation schedule, social activities, or a specific type of help that will be needed). Keep in mind that there will always be a difference between the ideals and reality. My mother moved to The Bridge at Hickory Woods late September. She and I have both been very happy with some aspects of this assisted living community and disappointed with others, which I imagine would be true anywhere. This is indeed a beautiful facility, but all that glitters is not gold. Like every other senior living community, problems sometimes arise as the result of staffing issues, budget constraints, and human factors. I chose The Bridge at Hickory Woods with the belief that they would provide transportation to all of my mother's medical appointments since transportation is listed among the amenities offered (one of many selling points). There are actually scheduling limitations, which were not disclosed until after I signed a lease agreement. I was shocked to learn that medical transportation is available only on Tuesdays and Thursdays...and is limited to a specific geographic area each of those two days. The reality is that The Bridge will drive my mother only to those appointments that can be scheduled on Tuesdays, which is not always feasible. Overall, I'd say the staff at The Bridge is friendly and they treat the residents with respect. The executive director, Forest Dumont, has been great to work with. He took over that position two months before Mom moved in. As it happens, my mother joined The Bridge community during a time of transition, where she and I have met new people in [I believe] every supervisory position. My mother has commented more than once, "It seems that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing." In addition, there are some job vacancies which affect the residents in many ways; currently there is no full-time activities director. On a positive note, I will say that when residents press their call buttons, the care aides typically come in a timely manner. (This is a marked improvement over my mother's experience at Life Care of Hickory Woods, the skilled nursing facility next door.) It appears that Forest genuinely cares about the residents and does his best to correct problems that are brought to his attention. He actually drove my mom to a doctor appointment on a Monday, three days after she moved in, which we greatly appreciated. (Of course, he cannot drive her to physical therapy three times a week though - neither will the transportation bus - and yet that's the new phase of Mom's rehabilitation schedule for her broken knee and wrist.) Forest has told me that he's working on a number of changes in effort to make improvements. He recently added fresh fruit to the snack bar and specifically mentioned that he's got some ideas to improve the dining menu. I sincerely hope he can also improve the quality of food so that meals will live up to what is stated on The Bridge website, "We offer dining options that are both nutritious and savory." To be candid, the reality is far from what is advertised. My mother tells me that she and her dining companions have been generally disappointed with what is being served by the new head chef. [Note that Mom does not sit with the same people at every meal; it seems this is a widespread opinion.] As for nutrition, I've observed that the menu is heavy on empty carbs and starchy vegetables, which are bad for residents with high blood sugar.

I am one of the residents and I love The Bridge and all the nursing staff, kitchen staff, and care givers. My husband has dementia and needs a lot of attention, everyone is so caring and helpful. We are so blessed to be here. Also the office people are so willing to help, they realize at our age we need all help we can get. Come visit us, you will be impressed.
