Health Service “management” is bottom of the barrel staff. [name removed] schedules meetings that she doesn’t show up to on time (2 recent meetings) and 2 meetings we have scheduled she blatantly did not show up or communicate to reschedule or even apologize …& to top that off, when I am finally able to meet with her she is condescending when I ask questions about moms care/wellbeing and speaks to me as though she knows more of what is best for my mom than I do. [name removed] may have a nursing license but doesn’t have a brain..I’ll leave it at that for her. Looking into different communities for mom as the staff that TRULY loved, listened to and cared for mom has been gotten rid of now she is left with feeling like she is just a dollar amount to not only [name removed] and [name removed] but the management team all around.

Our mother spent about nine years at The Reserve. The staff is friendly and cares about its residents. The facility and grounds are clean. They have plenty of activities. And they were very accommodating during multiple apartment moves.

I feel accepted and respected. I feel fortunate to live here. I especially like my apartment. It has a nice view and green grass outside. I feel there are several dedicated employees that care very much about everyone. That includes Shirley Romero, Liina Cuba, and Lulu Issa. They are outstanding compared to the average one.

I’ve unfortunately noticed that when a resident moves into Hospice, the levels of appropriate treatment and communication decline. I’m listed as the POA. Yet, to date Ive never receive updates or calls regarding the patient or their condition, health and treatment. All of which was clearly articulated during the initial consultation, that I was to have been referred to, and informed prior to. I even mentioned to Elizabeth that concise communication is severely lacking.

There are always things to improve but I think as a location and facility to give senior citizens a nice life style, the Reserve does a great job. You have a tough crowd to please.

I worked with Assisted Living Connections to find this great facility for my Mom who needed respite care after a complicated surgery. Elizabeth, Justin and the entire team were very accommodating, capable and professional with getting her moved into her new studio in very short order. I'm relieved to know she is in the best place she can be with competent care, nurturing support and a thriving social community of residents!

The Sale Director Justin Broome was very knowledgeable and answered everyone of my questions with such care, concern and empathy. He gave me a great tour. Justin was very professional he knew every resident by name and they knew him and they would light up when they saw him. I could tell that Justin loves his job he has a passion for sure.

The conditions my mother lived in here were disappointing. Someone in hospice should be treated with more dignity. Please hire more nursing/care staff.

The moment I walked in I felt the great vibes. I’ve been invited to a couple of happenings there since my first tour of the reserve and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE , that works there are truly unbelievably friendly & engage with the residents. They all work like crazy and seem to love it! In particular, I will mention Justin Broome Who gave me my tour originally. I never felt rushed. He spent almost 3 hours with me and my daughter, including lunch in their wonderful restaurant area. I might add the food is truly incredible! I’ve been three different times now and it’s hard not to use the word. perfect. I know it must sound like I work for them, but I don’t. I’m trying to clear out my house so I can sell it & move in. I’m READY! But the only sad thing is, I think it will take me months maybe a year to get stuff out of my house where I’ve lived for 50 years. I must give special mentions and praise About Allison, L and Donald McGraw , Well, I just don’t know how they do it. They’re on the move every minute and always with a smile or a joke they are so In the moment. You could just feel it. And it feels terrific. I’m 82 & I wish I’d known about this place sooner because I think my husband and I would’ve moved in. But sadly, he died December 1924. So it’s only been five months. I love the programs there & the socialization and the several people that I’ve met that live there. And they all had only good things to say about it! Sincerely, Trish

As the owner of Prema Consultants, a senior placement consulting company, I tour many communities”and The Reserve truly stands out. From the very first interaction, booking a tour was seamless. The staff was friendly, responsive, and professional. I didn’t wait days for a callback”I got through right away. My first tour was with Justin, who started from the ground up at this community. Every resident knew him”and loved him! He even knew every resident's name, which speaks volumes about the heart of this place. What struck me immediately was how active and joyful the community is. Residents”many well into their 90s”weren’t staying in their rooms. They were out socializing, exercising, and genuinely enjoying life. It was beautiful to witness. The activities offered are thoughtfully curated to match the interests of the residents, not just the usual programming. As I toured, I kept meeting incredibly happy residents”and even an adult son of a resident stopped me to rave about how much his father loved it so much, he moved in twice after a brief time away. That says everything. Ultimately, I placed a dear friend (turned client) here, and after touring many communities, she immediately fell in love with The Reserve. The process with Lisa Marie and Elizabeth was exceptional”they were thorough, patient, and always kind. They answered every question and ensured both my client, and her cat were well cared for. Their large two-bedroom suites and pet-friendly culture are wonderful features, and the genuine warmth from the staff extends far beyond just "doing a job." Even when there’s no availability, they try to help”whether it’s with another option or a referral. That’s true heart. The Reserve isn’t just well-maintained and clean”it’s alive with spirit. It doesn’t feel like a business. It feels like a big, happy family. My client now texts me pictures of events, glowing with joy and always saying: I LOVE this place!!! I look forward to introducing more clients to this vibrant, welcoming community. Five stars all the way! “ Jennefer Eva Racz Owner, Prema Consultants

Had a fantastic experience with The Reserve. I was looking for a great community with a friendly and active lifestyle for my father and this ended up being it: moved him in just a few days ago and he loves it. There's a lot of freedom but also a notable care and concern for the happiness and well-being of residents. People have been coming up to my father on their own to introduce themselves and to make him feel welcome. He's already making friends! The apartments are nice and the amenities are plentiful. Special thanks to Justin and Lisa Marie who really excel at information and communication. Thanks also for helping us navigate the process of getting my father a place to live and to thrive. This was the first place we looked at and it really set the tone. Very personable and helpful staff. I plan to visit often!

My mother-in-law lived at The Reserve at Thousand Oaks for three years. We found this community to be well managed and caring. Team members from the dining room, to the front desk, to the med tech group were a beautiful blend of caring and professional. The facility itself has recently been refreshed and the staff makes use of technology - like offering a virtual app for check-in, to make things easier on visitors. Nice dining room and communal gathering areas.

1.Do NOT "trust" that the medication oversight for your loved one is being strictly adhered to and understood! Staff members are rewarded with retaining employment after injuring elder resident by not administering necessary prescribed medications for several days! Employees still allowed to administer medications after gross negligence. Management may respond to this review otherwise but will NOT be truthful . Their primary goal is to keep their rooms filled and to not properly address their managerial shortcomings to all I am stating here in this very honest review. 2. Do Not expect "quality" food and consistency for your loved ones. A constant revolving door of chefs . 3. Do Not expect and assume that your loved ones' apartment is being cleaned appropriately. Housekeeping is horrific! For this reason, I had to physically clean my mother's room myself to ensure cleanliness! 4. Do Not " trust" that your loved ones belongings are safe. My mother had purse, money, gift cards, perfume & clothes " Stolen" by staff members during the time she lived here. Management assumes No responsibility for these misdeeds. If you " ask" them to call the police to make a report, they will do so, but it's done just to appear they are doing the right thing. They will interrogate your loved one , when they should be addressing their internal staff issues in this regard. 5. There are NO , " NO Security Cameras" on The Reserve property! I was told that when MBK bought property ; security cameras were dismantled ! They feel No need to invest in securing residents on property to this degree. To make matters worse; they run on an absolute ghost staff at night! It's absolutely a terrible feeling to not have adequate staff on premises at all hours! MBK's goal is to make money like every other business ; but Assisted Living Communities are a business that potentially could be the matter of life or death if appropriate and well trained staff are not present 24/7. 6. Make no mistake, management will insist they follow industry standards and they meet industry standards. Sadly , industry standards bar is not set high enough to protect our loved ones on so many levels ! But rest assured , when residents receive their " Annual Rent Increase" of 8% to 10% , at The Reserve , they will be told the costs of operations have gone way up; Yet , there will be less Staff, Sub-Par Food , No safer an environment & the same negligent staff members still employed who oversee medications for your loved ones. And sadly those employees that are capable will be exhausted from working double shifts! How is any of the above a benefit to seniors who deserve so much more , heading into the last years of their lives? 7. Do " Not" expect handicap accessible accommodations in majority of apartments. Be fully aware that if wheelchairs are needed as your loved ones age; bathrooms are not built or remodeled ( yet) to accommodate easy and smooth transfer from chair to shower and toilets. 8. Management spent millions of dollars updating the lobby area, dining area and "hallway " carpets BUT ZERO improvements to Residents rooms where they LIVE! MBK offers the " illusion of appearances" to prospective renters that The Reserve is updated versus investing in New Fresh Carpets in Apartments, Investing in Central Heating/Air in main building , security camera systems on property, changing Lightbulbs throughout property on light posts for night safety and turning the lobby patio lights on as a daily practice for night safety and last but certainly not least; they say they pay their staff to industry standards and yet staff retention over the years has been extremely POOR! They make excuses for it but truth be told ; the best caregivers leave to earn better wages and benefits ; others leave to go back to school etc But bottom line seniors need and crave consistency!!! Once they become bonded with caregivers ; they end up resigning.

My parents moved to The Reserve in Thousand Oaks almost ten years ago and as their daughter I’m so glad they did. They could live independently or get help when they needed it. What a relief to my sister and myself. It’s a beautiful community and the management and kind staff is exceptional. My parents were so happy there. Sadly Dad passed a few years ago and Mom now needs skilled nursing after a fall. I feel I need to share our experience. They had a large apartment and could fix their own meals or go to the beautiful dining room. The food service is great by the way! There are so many ways to interact with the neighbors whether it be games, movies or outings where transportation is provided. My parents didn’t socialize much but they did make friends within the complex. Dad and Mom would treat the family to special events held on holidays for the residents and their guests. With all of the amenities at The Reserve they said that it, "felt like a vacation every day!"

The Reserve at Thousand oaks was my pick when I was out looking for days for a place for Dad. I was in and out of so many Assisted Living facility in Thousand oaks and near by cities. The Reserve is back off the road and when I drove up the grounds are just beautiful, everything from the landscape to the tress to the buildings are just so pretty and everything so clean. When I walked up to the Lobby door and went inside I thought I was at some fancy big hotel. Everyone at the front desk was so very friendly and ready to help. As I was taken around by the director of sales Ruth I knew right a way this was the right place for Dad. Ruth took the time to show me around the grounds and then all the amenities inside, and then answered all my questions. When I left she said call me anytime and of course after you leave you start thinking about all the things you forgot to ask so there was lots of calls back and forth to her, and she was always there to talk to me and answer all my worries and concerns. My Dad is now living there and I can not be happier. The friendly staff is always smiling and so pleasant every time I come up to visit Dad.Thank you Ruth for all your gracious help and kind words to make this move for my Dad so effortless!
