Reviews Brookdale West Seattle
July 2026
My mom has lived at Brookdale West Seattle for about seven or eight years now, and she's been very happy there. She has a small group of friends, enjoys having people to eat meals with, and has built a community for herself. Everyone at Brookdale is genuinely friendly. I visit for family meals at least once a month (often more), and the staff always knows the residents by name, checks in on them, and warmly greets family and guests. There are also plenty of activities. My mom plays pinochle every week and has participated in bridge and a book club, both of which the staff helped facilitate. They also offer movies, trivia nights, shopping trips, outings to the opera, and, around the holidays, special events like brunches or live musical performances during meals. The apartments come in a variety of layouts. Some face the back and are a little darker, while others face 35th Avenue and are brighter, with some offering views. The building sits on a hill, which can make getting in and out of the car a little tricky, but there's also a more level pull-up area in the back that works well. One thing I've appreciated is that the level of care can change as residents' needs change. After my mom had a fall, she spent time in rehab elsewhere and then returned to Brookdale with assisted living. Once she had recovered, she was able to move back off assisted living. They also offer services like laundry for an additional fee if needed (weekly cleaning is included!). Overall, my mom really likes it here, and it's reassuring to know she's surrounded by caring people who take good care of her.

5/13/26 I've been here for four years now and I'm happy to say that each year has made me appreciate this place even more! The management and staff are exemplary. The care that they give is outstanding. They are very responsive to our needs and always ask "what more can we do". Dining is very good and staff is very kind and attentive. Maintenance is quick to fix any tasks needed to keep our days flowing along smoothly. Caregivers and med techs are hands on, quick to respond to our needs and very very caring. Management is well organized placing our needs and desires above all else and in addition to all of this, Dawn and staff are always so approachable and loving...WOW I found the best when my daughter found this place for me! The administration and staff are way beyond good, they become like my extended family! Their dedication to meeting our needs, going way beyond expectations and making a bad day so much better is part of every day that I've experienced here! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!!!!

My Mother has been at Brookdale for 2 1/2 years. She has thrived as a community member. The staff has been very attentive and put together programs and activities focused on what the community wants including lots of events for families to join. My Mother started out in independent living, but as time has progressed she has needed more services and Brookdale has helped us navigate each of these changes in a respectful and caring way. We are very happy we found Brookdale.

Has the pleasure being with my sister her first 4 days at Brookdale. Found the staff pleasant and informative and always with a positive attitude. Looking forward to getting to spend more time with Barb in December!

I this place! Top reason: Community! Next: Staff. The ONLY need for improvement: Plenty of water gets wasted waiting for the hot water.

I moved my mother who has dementia in here about 2 weeks ago. My mother is REAL pain. However so far I'm not impressed. Very disorganized. Lack of communication. You ask for something like knobs for you're loved ones room and good luck getting follow through for days. I've been asking for a garage clicker for a week now with now follow through. At least three "need to knows" we're addressed to me in passing as oh by the way, which is not professional. They can't seem to get my mom's name spelled right which makes me concerned that they don'tpay attention to details or other things that could be more serious. The food is gross to look at, let alone consume. I chose this Brookdale location because they take Medicaid and are close to me. Otherwise I'd put my mother elsewhere. What should one expect for almost 6k a month? Seems like they only care about money and recruiting residents. Good luck getting a return call or text from the rental manager unless it involves money. Alyssa is the only employee there that is worthy and passionate.

Very, very happy here!

Assisted living at Brookdale has been WONDERFUL for my sister in law who had formerly been isolated and depressed. Living among people who care for her like family and socialization with other residents has made all the difference in returning her joy in life.
January 2023
Update: Yet again, another rent increase that is outrageous! This is the second year in a row that they have raised the rent over $500 per month. They already price gouge elderly people, but now they are trying to make up lost revenue from residents that moved out during the pandemic, by raising the remaining resident's rent at an absurd rate! My father's rent is now $4,560 per month for independent living for a one bedroom, which means he receives no help, other than two meals per day. With my father having dementia, he cannot even afford to get the help or care that he needs while living here. Unless you are very wealthy, I don't recommend this facility. You can find equal or better care at more reasonable prices from other living facilities in or near West Seattle. It seems this company's only concern is making money, regardless of whether or not their residents can afford it. I recommend going on indeed.com and reading some of the reviews from their own employees. Not only do they mention the high turnover rate and focus on making money, but they bring to light that they are understaffed when it comes to actually helping the residents. My father has lived at this location for over 5 1/2 years and unfortunately the quality of the staff has gone down tremendously. No one seems to know what they're doing anymore since the majority of the staff quit a few months ago. You would think when someone pays $4,000+ per month for independent living, they would follow through with the agreement to drive him to his doctor's appointment once a week seeing that it's only 5 minutes away! My father has dementia and can no longer drive and I just had spinal surgery, so I'm currently unable to take him. I will be looking for another place for him to live. I do not recommend anyone moving into this living facility.

Very wonderful place

Brookdale West Seattle's new management is terrific. They proactively respond to residents with kindness and respect. The dining room is airy and beautiful and the rooftop deck is a big plus. The nursing staff is responsive to emergencies and everyday issues and don't nickel and dime residents for bandaids. We looked at all the assisted living facilities in West Seattle and this was the best for my mom. It's an easy location for commuters dropping by to see their parents after work. Neighborhood walking can be a challenge but they have plenty of excursions.
