While my loved one didn't end up staying here, I wanted to share some feedback to help other families. The medical care and therapy programs at this facility are highly regarded, but the real standout feature appears to be their activities program. The long-term residential activities look incredibly fun and engaging. They even organized a recent zoo visit, which is a wonderful way to keep residents active and happy!There are just two areas to watch out for. First, the webpage is very misleading. It uses polished, resort-style advertising that does not accurately reflect the actual building or day-to-day reality.Second, the feedback on the food is consistently poor. While it is understandable that the kitchen must accommodate special diets, not all residents are on restricted menus. The staff needs to be much more mindful of individual client diets to ensure everyone's specific nutritional needs and preferences are correctly met.Overall, it appears to be a great choice for fantastic activities and care, just go in with realistic expectations about the food and the physical amenities.

Hillside Village provided consistently high quality care during my Mom’s stay in both their assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. The staff were kind and accountable in tending to her daily needs. The staff always kept me informed of any health or other issues affecting my Mom. Nursing Staff & Therapy Department is attentive and supportive in meeting residents and families needs/goals in a timely manner. Nurse practitioner,medical director and wound specialist are always readily available. Management team is highly involved to achieve optimal care and patient outcome.

Hillside Village has exceeded our expectations! From the first call and visit with Huntter, Paige & Chelsey we have been amazed with the entire team. Front office, cleaning, maintenance, activity director, transportation providers and the Friendly, Caring NURSING STAFF are just the best! We toured many Sr. Living facilities and chose Hillside based on location and size. We have been pleasantly surprised over and over again with the care our mom is receiving. The Assisted Living team is simply amazing.

My husband was sent here from KU Medical. We live in Topeka and this was the closest facility that would take him. I would say it was a blessing in disguise. The entire staff was friendly and caring. His care and rehab certainly made it possible to get back home. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

My mother has been at Hillside Village for 3 years in Assisted Living. My mother really likes the ranch style where everything is all on one floor. The staff are professional , their professional rating is 4.9 of 5; they are friendly and accommodating; the residents know each other and are friendly to one another. Definitely a good choice for mom.

I just want to praise Hillside Village for their care of my mother In Law. She struggled with fear of being left alone, her new surroundings, going from an active 92 year old to being in a wheelchair to having to move from her home and having to accept her new life. After a few months I have seen world of difference and I don’t feel guilty saying good bye to her after my visit. Hillside Village kept telling us she will do better and accept her new life. Through the therapy and her interactions with the staff and new friends she is doing wonderful. She has a huge smile on her face when she spots her visitors walking toward her. I took a tour of Hillside and was so impressed how clean it was and the staff was so friendly! Chelsey was so kind and took the time to introduce me to staff, show me the different areas of the village. It literally felt like home away from home and I would have any of my family members stay there.

Wish I could give 10 stars! Entrusting your loved one to strangers is incredibly stressful. The management staff at Hillside were wonderful at answering all of my questions and reassuring me at every turn. The facility is clean and home like. The food is great and the nursing staff is professional and caring. Me being naturally distrustful, I have made so many pop-in visits on every shift and I’ve only ever left more confident each time that my Nan is in the best possible care. Believe me, I have TRIED to find fault in her care but she and I agree…. Hillside is HOME and the staff are FAMILY. We are so blessed beyond imagine to have found this place for her! Thank you, Hillside, for giving my family peace around this decision and for giving Nan a home where she feels seen and cared for!

My elderly mom had a fall incident right before Christmas. They all did a great job of getting her back on her feet. One day while there her heart rate dropped - she needed a pacemaker; if it wasn't for their attentiveness she wouldn't be here today, so thank you very much.

Highly recommend if you are needing a place for a loved one to live. My grandma has lived here for 5 years on the assisted living side and enjoys all of the activities and friends she has made. She is really happy with the new management and staff that recently took over.

Don’t put your loved one here unless you’re ok with filth, and neglect. Staffing is overworked the Food is awful. Mother has fallen a few times. Not good considering she’s there for rehab from a fall …. I’d suggest looking elsewhere….

I wanted to give the biggest shout out to Hillside village of DeSoto, we lost my father-in-law last night, and they treated him like he was their family member. My husband & I feel a connection with the absolute caring staff there. We couldn't have asked for a better place for him to be for his final days. He passed away with dignity and grace which he deserved. My mother was there in 2021 but for a very short 4 days before her passing. My in-laws moved into the Assisted side March of 2022 until my Mother-in-law's passing Jan of this year. With dad's declining health he was moved to the skilled side. I can't say enough about this little gem we have here in DeSoto but if you need a place that cares for an aging loved one, this is it. Again many thanks

Moved my mom here to rehab after a bout with CHF, was promised dietary could provide 2g sodium restricted diet. After admitted was told diet for all residents was low sodium, they couldn't guarantee it was 2g or less. Of course, she went into full blown CHF within just a couple weeks and was back in the hospital! Also, about a week in, we had a care plan meeting where I was literally told by Occupational Therapy that their daily exercise routine was getting her up out of bed, dressed, to the bathroom and in her wheelchair. Usually at around 10 in the morning. And if she told PT or even OT no, nobody would push her, she just got to stay in bed and sleep! I had read so many great reviews and wow, all I can say is maybe I should have been suspicious of people writing wonderful things who only wrote 1 review of any place... I give the place 2 stars for the nice staff working the floor-nurses and cna's were all great.

Moving our Mom away from her home of nearly 45 years was a very difficult decision especially during a pandemic. However, from the first moment we walked into Hillside Village, we could tell we had found something special. The staff is amazing! The nurses are so great with our mom, there are activities that keep her busy, and I’ve never been to a cleaner facility. I would highly recommend Hillside to anyone searching for a safe place for their loved one.

My mother has been a resident at Hillside Village of DeSoto for eleven years. She became a resident in assisted living. She has also experienced rehab at Hillside, after hospital stays. Currently, she lives in the nursing section where she is receiving long term care. My family and I have periodically remarked about the care my mother receives. It is above and beyond. I sleep well knowing my mother is in good hands.

My Mother has lived at Hillside Assisted Living for almost 4 years. They are WONDERFUL!! Very clean facility. Every employee has been kind and so helpful. It's very evident they truly care about the residents. If I have a question or concern it is addressed immediately. They provide activities available to anyone interested. We are made aware of any changes happening by way of email. The cost comparatively is very reasonable. EVERY employee from the owner to the kitchen help/ housekeeping and everyone in between seem to enjoy their job. During Covid they handled it professionally and kept control with keeping vaccinations available and never having anything but mild symptoms that never required hospitaluzation. I would highly recommend this facility!!!!

We can not say enough good things about the care our mother has received at Hillside Village. Mom moved in just a few weeks before COVID hit. The staff have done an excellent job of caring for her health needs and making her feel right at home. The organization has done a great job of balancing the need for visit restrictions with the desire of family to be together. Mom’s health and well being have improved significantly due to the amazing care and nutrition. Thanks Hillside staff and management for a job well done!

My mother has been at Hillside Village for 2 and 1/2 years. Up to this week she has been on the Assisted Living side. She had some lung and heart issues, went to the hospital, and after three days return to Hillside Village skilled nursing side of the facility. She is undergoing rehab so that you can return to the Assisted Living side as of now. Hillside Village has been nothing short of fantastic. They have great staff good activities and I couldn't say enough good about the facility.
