I got there, was dropped onto a bed, undressed and had a diaper slapped on me. Just laying on a bed in a small room scared to death. That was before hello. A bit humiliating, and when I asked to use the bathroom, I was told "Hell no, I'm on break" and she walked out. So we got out to a rough start. Unfortunately I couldn't walk so I was a trapped animal. I also caught COVID from my roommate so I was confined to my little room for 10 days. Talk about cabin fever. It took awhile to figure out who was there to do this job and who was there but wasn't the least bit interested. The food was pretty good, but portions were small. I was told the day before I left 4 WEEKS LATER that I could have asked for bigger portions. So I lost a little weight, a good thing. There were some people there that were so kind and caring they made up for the others. So I shouldn't be surprised when I get the bill and have to pay over $800 for the 2 days extra I had to stay because they didn't have the paperwork done in time. They even told me someone who did that was out sick but trying to do as much as she can at home. It's stil costing me over $800. So think twice before you jump in there.

One star rating because I cant give a zero. [name removed] is NO help at all. Leave a message to call back and he won't return your call. I think hes not there most of the time. The maintenance is a big problem from water leaks to clogged drains that they say cant be fixed. Moms room got flooded 7 times before they decided there might be a problem. Mom complains about the food all the time. The electricity keeps going off now and will stay off for hours and the rooms get fairly hot this time of year. That also means no meals mom got 2 slices of bread and slice of cheese for a meal. Mom has friends there so she won't move to another facility. Im not one to write reviews but I dont like the idea you might put your elderly here not knowing all the facts. The nursing staff is ok its the management that seems to not care. He's [name removed] just going through the motions not really trying to help keep it a nice facility. Ill talk about the bed bugs on my next review.

During my care at Parkwood Healthcare I experienced a kind and caring staff. During my seven month stay they made sure that my room was clean and comfortable, that I had good food that was healthy and even entertainment. If I had one complaint it's that there were a couple of times that my medicine was late but if I had to choose which assisted living place to go to, it would be Parkwood Healthcare. The staff was great.

My husband fractured his pelvis and went to Parkwood for rehab. Everyone one there was amazing. The therapist are very caring and patient with everyone. My husband had the best wound care nurse. Jonathan was amazing and really helped get the wounds on the mend. I would recommend Parkwood for anyone needing a place to put their loved ones.

My husband recently had a brief stay at Parkwood Retirement Community. We have never in our lives experienced a more caring, professional, environment. The staff, every single person, is exceptional - kind, friendly, they treat everyone as family and no request is ignored or denied. The facility is kept extremely clean and fresh. The food is top notch, even for the picky eater. Our experience was excellent and we would wholeheartedly recommend Parkwood. Thank you Parkwood for your kindness and excellent care.

Michelle made the transition of moving my mother from an independent living complex to assisted living as painless as possible. My mother was very apprehensive and had many questions and Michelle gave her cell phone number to her so she could call and get the answers at any time which was appreciated. The facility is small so the atmosphere is very homey and comfortable. Knowing my mother is happy makes me happy.

Both my mom and my step dad were at this place for rehab. My mom had open heart surgery and was transferred there from the hospital. She did great and even wanted to come back to visit the workers. Most recently my step dad was there recovering from covid. He was in bad shape requiring oxygen when he first came in. He was there for a while and was dependent on them for everything. When it was time to go home he even got emotional because he was so grateful for everything. They are now both doing well considering. I would recommend Parkwood to anyone who has a family member who needs care. They were outstanding. Thank you Parkwood!

My mom has been there for over "5" years and the building maintenance is poor as an example the sink in her room is so clogged they want fix it and she cant lock her, door things get stolen all the time and the door to her bathroom want stay closed. Last month the bill was added a extra day for over 200.00 dollars when the rate for a day is just over 100.00 dollars a day. Forget about having your laundry done by them you will loose all kinds of things but never seem to get back any extras, like where did they go. They put on a good front but dont seem to have the extra heart to do a good job just going through the motions. I have called billing department to inquire about her bill but all I get is a recording, I dont get a return call no way to question why the bill has jumped 200,00 in one month. Will post more updates in the months to come and make sure they arent taking the poor reviews off just to look good. These are facts not opinions.

It makes it easy for us to recommend this facility because the families that we refer agree that they have great caring & compassion staff. Anna & Laurel make the referral process easy. Akash, the administrator takes time to meet each patient & their families. The nursing team is phenomenal lead by Rose and Dezere. Lisa the social worker is a patient advocate. The therapy team has been consistent for many years & is known to have some of the best outcomes in the Midcities.

My mom initially came to Parkwood for rehab after suffering a stroke which she recovered completely. While at Parkwood she had such a great experience that she wanted to move from her current facility to become a permanent resident. The caregivers are so compassionate and caring she immediately feel in love with them as they did with her (for example once mom had a craving for some fried chicken well her caregiver went and bought her some; plus and most importantly they know how mom likes her coffee). The staff is exemplar as well! If I ever had a concern, they were always ready to help find a resolution whether it is dental, podiatry, vision, or wound care. Bottom line, I visit my mom everyday but on the occasion I am away, I never worry about my mother’s care cause it is as good or better than if I cared for her myself! I would totally recommend Parkwood for your loved one!

Weekend crew not up to the challenge. Grandfather here for rehab, they would not leave a walker in his room despite being able to use one. So he was unable to get himself out of bed to use the bathroom. Who knows how long he was sitting in his own urine like that. Unacceptable. The only reason do the two stars is that the crew during the week is good. I can't wait to get him out of here

I would absolutely recommend Parkwood Healthcare to any of my friends or family looking for a place for their loved one. My dad came to Parkwood after he fell in the yard and broke his hip. The staff really took their time with him, explained everything to him and myself. They always kept in contact with us when things with him changed. When he was strong enough to go home the discharge process was so smooth, the social working made sure to answer all of our questions and even had home health all set up so he could continue getting stronger. I would just like to say thank you to all of the personnel involved with my dad's care. Thank you so much!!!

I broke my right femur, needed rehab to strengthen my left leg as i will be non weight bearing for several weeks. Staff was very supportive, and kind. PT/OT helped me prepare to go home successfully. I did see the Doctor weekly, along with his NP, the Wound care Dr and the wound care Nurse daily. They encouaged participation in group activities. They asked about food preferences and haf alternatives.

My mother in law stayed there recently for rehab we absolutely loved everything about Parkwood, the entire therapy department was amazing and got her to where she was able to return home!! I was very pleased with how their entire staffed engaged with their patients and not a single one feels left out of anything that was going on or happening, their activities are so fun and I would enjoy watching my mother in law light up during them. They are always so friendly and never came across as rude to anyone, always with the sweetest manners possible that you would ever want in a place caring for your loved one. Thank you again for bringing new life into my mother in law.. I greatly appreciate everything that they do to make you feel number # 1 and getting her back home to us.

My Mom in in love, fell and broke her hip. Her surgeon, Dr. Taunton said she could not go home until 6 weeks after surgery. He told us he didn't like Skilled nursing but was open to trying Parkwood. What a great place for her to recuperate and do minimal therapy until her surgical bone was healed. The staff has been kind and always helpful. Her evening nurse, Coffey, goes above and beyond on every shift. He gets down to her eye level and asks her almost privately if she needs anything special. It could be as simple as him putting out her clothes for the next morning. But he's gotten her so used to his help that I know she's going to really miss him. Another person who has helped is the Medication side, I think her name is Melissa? She's very helpful and medications are on time and always asking if she needs anything right now. Parkwood has been a godsend to my family. I hope if you have a lives one in need of a short stay following surgery, this post helps you in some way. Also noteworthy is the social worker, her therapy team A#1 Ada well as Rose the DON —she knows what's going on without getting involved unless there'san issue. Overall a 5 star stay! Thank you 

Parkwood Retirement is a wonderful welcoming community. Large enough to make many friends, but not so large as to be overwhelming. The apartments are spacious and offer access to fresh air in outdoor spaces rather than confining interior hallways. The management is like family, making sure residents have what they need and staying in contact with family members. The activities are creative and varied.

This facility lacks a lot of skilled staff to care for the residents. My mother has been here since last Thursday and it's not been pleasant at all. The staff that is suppose to be caring for the residents is not doing their job. If I or my sister or brother is not present at all times our mother receives no help. She's here for rehab because of recent hip and ankle surgery. They have let her set in her bed on 3 occasions and not acknowledged that she has help and she's had to have a bowl movement in bed. The staffs excuse is and I quote ( were busy snd I'm helping with food I can't help you ). There is no excuse for such lack of care. I certainly cannot and will not recommend this facility to anyone. We have reached out to the director of this facility and the head of nursing here. Please be aware people of where you leave your love ones

Everyone was very nice and took good care of my dad, but because they only did one hour of physical therapy on weekdays, and the rest of the time he was either in bed or in a wheelchair, I think his legs were actually weaker when he came home. Also, they lost some of his clothes. They took them to be washed and never came back. I’ve tried calling to check on them, but if you leave a message, no one ever calls back.

They keep everyone clean as well as the community, I dont like the places that take care of senior adults that smell like urine. Theres plenty of entertainment for everyone to keep their minds busy. several months ago I decided to make the decision for myself that I didn’t want my two boys to decide for me ...where I should be living in the future. I made the decision to choose Parkwood. My wife had been here in the past. I have been here for rehab. I felt Parkwood would give me the support I needed for the remaining years I have left on this earth. I decided in the end of 2019 to put my house on the market and have an estate sale.I feel that Parkwood provides a safe place for someone like myself. The staff here at parkwood are very congenial, supportive and professional. I feel like being in the assisted living section that I am allowed to do things for myself but know I still have support from staff and have the care if I need it. I would recommend Parkwood Assisted living to anyone that needs long term care.I also feel like my two boys feel good knowing I am safe here.I also enjoy the activity staff. They adapt to us and our interests very well. Cornhole is one of my favorite activities.

My mother has been a resident of Parkwood for 2 years. I would not consider moving her anywhere else. The staff is wonderful and always so friendly when I visit. They have been very attentive to my mother’s needs. Recent renovations have created a warm and inviting atmosphere. They have multiple levels of care which is one of the reasons I chose Parkwood initially. However, the staff is the reason we have stayed. I highly recommend you check out Parkwood if you are needing either short or long term care for a family member.

The most important thing I was looking for when it came to my mom’s long term care was a staff that was compassionate not only towards her but also when understanding my needs. I found both of these at Parkwood. While Covid has changed my daily visits with mom, I am confident, even through my tears , that she is well taken care of. I really enjoy all of the staff members I come in contact with. Parkwood has fun activities that keep us occupied.. like Bingo and movies from long ago. We really enjoy that! I was at three facilities, Parkwood ranks highly above the other two. I got the best treatment here and received best therapy especially Sagel and Karen. I highly recommend Parkwood for people that really need some serious therapy. I am still here and intend to stay here until I am able to go home. The nurses and assistants are really good too. Everyone I have met here has been really friendly. This is the place to be if you must have inpatient therapy.
