I stayed at The Clare for over two weeks after surgery.The daily one-on-one physical and occupational therapy was exceptional. It provided me with the tools I needed for a successful recovery along with instructions on how to manuever in the outside environment. The staff was professional, upbeat, positive and endearing. We had a wonderful experience with the skilled nursing team at The Clare while caring for one of our clients. From admission to discharge, everything was handled with care and professionalism. They gave us a comprehensive welcome book explaining what to expect during the stay, and the nursing staff was attentive from day one. Primitiva made sure all orders were placed promptly at admission so no medications were missed. Nurses Spencer and Anna were always available to answer our questions, and Richard, the CNA, anticipated our client's needs in a way that gave the family real peace of mind. Administrator Liza was regularly on the floor greeting patients by name. Deciding to move a loved one into a nursing facility is never easy, but the team at The Clare made the transition smooth and comfortable. This is a quality facility delivering quality care.

The perfect retirement move is all about patience, timing and finding a retirement community you can call home like the Clare. When I first explored Continuing Care Retirement Communities in Chicago and the suburbs, the sales and marketing staff at the Clare made a wonderful impression, especially Cathy - they were informative, positive and truly motivated me to do my research. After visiting several retirement communities the Clare stood out for me. the location was important. The location provided entertainment, events, shops, grocery stores, access to the lake, walking paths and parks. Another important feature was the Northwestern Hospital in walking distance from the Clare. I moved in on June 25, 2026 and the Clare has exceeded my expectations.

The Clare excels in all the ways that matter most in a senior living facility--in-house medical care, attentive staff, restaurant-quality meals, a broad range of activities--plus this unique feature: two emergency medical technicians on duty 24/7/365. These are highly skilled EMTs who will respond in minutes to any medical emergency residents may have. I experienced their expertise early one morning when I was having an acute bout of nausea. I did not consider my condition an emergency, but they quickly determined that I needed to go to the hospital and summoned an ambulance. Emergency room doctors found that I had appendicitis and I was in surgery soon after. Without the EMTs I would have delayed treatment and risked a more serious ruptured appendix. My wife needed their help on another occasion. Even if a resident never needs the EMTs, we have peace of mind knowing that help is near.

I’m a Clare resident for about three and a half years. My favorite things about The Clare are wonderful resident programs and activities. Having a fitness center is very helpful. The staff is excellent, always helpful and attentive. They always make me feel good and safe.The transportation is great, always available to take me to the restaurants in the neighborhood and doctors appointments free of charge. The moment I arrived at The Clare, I was greeted with genuine warmth and enthusiasm and at 2 a.m., no less. Meeting the night‘shift team at that hour and feeling instantly welcomed was astonishing in the best possible way. They offered to help with my bags, guided me to my room, and made me feel at home from the very first interaction. They didn’t stop there. They took the time to ensure I understood the property, my stay, and everything I might need. The next day, the service continued seamlessly as they arranged my valet parking and checked in to make sure everything was going well. I’ve stayed at many five‘star hotels in my travels, but if I were to rank this experience, it would easily be a 6 out of 5 stars. State of the art facility. Kind and caring staff, although they seem to be a bit understaffed - response times are not as good as at some other places. Social worker was extremely helpful and caring, as was the nutritionist. Food was fabulous and they have a good variety of activities for patients. They could beef up the PT/OT hours - patients spend too much time in bed. Overall, MUCH nicer than most skilled nursing care facilities! Thank you.

I cannot say enough good things about The Clare! My mother-in-law recently stayed at the rehab facilities for about a month after an illness landed her in the hospital. The Clare not only helped her regain her strength but her confidence as well. The entire staff, from the nurses, the therapists and even the hair salon owner, were beyond caring and compassionate. There were daily activities, like visits from therapy dogs, that kept my mother-in-law entertained as well. The facility was always clean, and I was told the food was delicious. While she was there, I slept easy every night knowing she was in good hands. If your loved one ever needs help getting back on their feet, I cannot recommend The Clare enough!

It’s never a good thing to have to go to a rehab center. At least that’s what I thought until I selected the Terraces at the Clare for my recent rehab needs. This place is just beautiful. So clean and bright and well maintained . And it happens to be staffed by the most remarkable staff I’ve ever been associated with. The therapists and nurses are top notch and take the time to get to know you and figure out how they can best help you. The CNAs are so hard working and professional. They are kind and caring and they can’t do enough to help you get well and return to home. The food was delicious and the activities provided were fun and engaging. If you ever need a skilled nursing facility you should seriously consider the Clare. You’ll be happy you did.

Plus, we are right in the middle of one of the world’s great cities - with countless cultural, entertainment, shopping and off-campus’ dining opportunities just outside our door and easily reachable with The Clare’s transportation services. It's been 11 years since I posted a review on The Clare. Now, having lived in this community for those 11 years let me attest that this is a near perfect place to live. Moved here at age 68 and working full-time running a company, husband just ending his career in real estate (but not quite), we lived our life just as we had in our previous 19 years in Lincoln Park. Moving to The Clare doesn't mean "retiring to a nursing home" and if you wait until you are ready - which many people translate to "old and not able to be active anymore" - you are foolishly too late. Take advantage of this warm and welcoming community and be happy here in your active years with the city's many opfferings at your fingertips. A decision maker/breaker in any community like ours should be the food as you are going to be eating here for the rest of your life. Our chef and kitchen staff are award winning and our meals rival nearby restaurants without the pricetags. Eleven years here and we have not spent a day regretting our decision.

On. Oct.25, 2024, I fell, hitting my forehead, knees and hands with full force. After 7! hours in the Rush ER, I was placed in a holding room at the hospital through the weekend. I was told that I had a small fracture in the patella of my knee. The social worker gave me a list of Rehab centers which I immediately recognized as nursing homes. I was anxious about coming to The Clare. From the first night, I was welcomed by other patients and the staff. Over the almost three weeks I was there, I was comfortable and encouraged to move as much as I was able and was welcomed into the elevator by so many different people who had the power of the fob. The PT and OT were excellent. They were on top of my advances and worked interchangeably to continue my healing progress. I do think the food could use a bit more attention for the skilled nursing floors. I recognize some of the food from the independent restaurants (The Bistro and other restaurants that resident friends have taken me to at other times). But it seems that by the time the food makes it to the individual floors, it may be overcooked or lack flavor and there were some nights that were outright unhealthy, like the starch night where the meal was potatoes, fried cob, some kind of fried vegies and the nightly salad that was always the same. (I can't remember exactly, but I think the dinner consisted of 5 starches). I do want to mention the CNA's and how very impressive they were with the dementia patients, just so caring. The nurses were also very wonderful and I particularly want to mention Susan who was very much on top of what I needed to do next and checking to be sure I had everything in place before going to sleep. Without reservation I recommend The Clare for rehab which is all that I can vouch for. I enjoyed the company I made there enough that as soon as this brace comes off, I'm planning to come to visit friends that I made. Thank you to the Clare.

I know people who have been in Skilled Nursing at the Clare, as well as those who have moved from our building into independent residences; and they all have good reports about their experiences there. I have visited friends there and witnessed the clean and welcoming environment. Its close proximity to our home convinced me that this was the place for his care as it would allow me to visit him daily. He has been at the Clare for nearly 8 months and has benefited greatly from the care and therapy he receives. I highly recommend the Clare and its caring, compassionate staff.

Living at The Clare means meeting new friends with interesting backgrounds, easy access to everything "Chicago," superb dining with delicious and varied menus, and very importantly, a wonderful staff who have helped, over many years, with everything imaginable. They are at the ready, knowledgeable and approach everything I've needed with a "can do" attitude. Living here gives peace of mind to me and my family! Additionally, 2024, people move to The Clare for community, friends, activities, excellent food and health care. We all hope to not have to access health care because we want to always stay healthy. However, things happen...short term and long term. I recently had a short term stay in skilled nursing and have high praise for the care. The staff took excellent care of me, met my needs and they are kind, caring and competent. The care component of the Clare is a large safety net for when it is needed. With high ratings, our Terraces are an exceptional facility in the city.

The Clare has been outstanding in the post surgical care of my husband. He has been there two months and will be in their care for at least one more. The staff, nurses, cna's, housekeeping, rehab specialists, administrative and even the cafeteria staff are well trained, professional and kind. The facility itself is wonderful. It's immaculate, cheerful, modern and private. There are many programs for patients and residents. We don't currently liive at The Clare but it would be the perfect choice for anyone retiring or downsizing or never wanting to worry about being alone in later years.

When we were very suddenly faced with the challenge of locating a facility that could provide skilled nursing care for our son’s recovery from post cardiac surgery, the Clare’s intervention efforts were a godsend. During his stay, everyone at The Clare (administrators, healthcare providers and support staff) provided both outstanding care for the resident patient and understanding care to address the many concerns of his family. Although the recovery period was a particularly trying time for a family that has been involved in his complicated health issues for almost 46 years, thanks to the compassionate efforts of all concerned at The Clare, we now have many fond memories of his recovery at your facility. Before our family was recommended to admit our father here, based on the endless horror stories of loved ones suffering gruesome injuries from falls to outright dying from neglect at less than ideal nursing homes, our fears were totally unfounded as he received amazing servic and care!!! The Clare staff showed great compassion and and went above and beyond the call of duty. We were especially grateful that because of insurance gaps that left us self pay for 4 of those days, they waived the $600 fee a day which was very much appreciated! We were also impressed since our father was not eating well.and tried to get out of his bed at night, they actually assigned 4 staff members to personally sit with him to stimulate his mind, fed him and made sure he was eating, and again the compassion was much appreciated! I highly recommend The Clare and anyone who has any doubts rest assured your loved ones will be well pampered and taken care of Just one FYI once there is a power of attorney is in place by law any medical facility by law is not allowed to disclose a patients physical wherabouts as I have learned. So just know their hands are tied- found this out today.

I often sing for the residents of the Clare. As a performer at many retirement facilities around Chicagoland, I get a unique inside look into staff and treatment of residents. Nikki Gamble (Life Enrichment Manager) takes meticulous care of programming making sure every tiny detail is perfect. She cares very very deeply about the residents and tends to their needs as if they were her own parents. She treats everyone with kindness, interest and deep respect. She is the epitome of class and sheer professionalism. On top of that, the facility is very clean and beautifully decorated. Nikki also makes sure that musical events are catered and the food is of very high quality. Compared with other senior residences, I give the Clare 5 stars!
