The facility is close to major highways yet tucked away in a beautiful and pastoral location. The staff is welcoming as are the residents. The activities are popular and well subscribed. i.e. bingo, Morning coffee hr., the lunch bunch, balancing exercise chair yoga, arthritis swimming, and beautiful grounds to stroll. The food served here is tasty and includes plenty of healthy vegetables, delicious entrees and some delightful chef pastry creations to top off your epicurean experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable and housekeeping provides weekly cleaning laundering and changing your linens. We have laundry rooms with machines free to residents to do our own laundry.The laundry room provides irons and ironing boards. I have been here for one month now and have met a number of friendly residents involved in various activities. I had difficulty living on my own, so what Langdon Place of Dover has to offer was just what I was looking for. I would highly recommend you check it out. I looked at a significant number of facilities. This is the one that felt right and turns out so far it is. S Nute

My father resides in the Memory Unit at Langdon. He suffers from dementia due to Alzheimer's. At the last assisted living facility he lived in, the staff had him sitting in a wheelchair all day slumped and sleeping at a table in the lunch room. Langdon's activity program has him keeping busy with various activities such as music, old episodes of beloved shows like the Lawrence Welk Show—even live piano music favorites. They bake and enjoy and eat what they've created and refreshments are provided in the afternoon. My father loves the meals and gobbles up every bite! His favorite activity is bowling. The nursing staff is friendly and caring. They spend a lot of time interacting with the residents and gently caring for them throughout the day. Perhaps the most amazing part is the physical therapy Langdon provided that resulted in my father becoming fully ambulatory again! He enjoys strolling about and chatting with others in a decoratively pleasing atmosphere. There's nothing hospital-like about the memory unit or the assisted living apartments at Langdon. These residents have access to a heated, indoor pool, a gym, a library, a lovely dining room, religious services and various outings. Residents are invited to a regular meeting where they can make suggestions or express any personal concerns.There's even talk of forming a book club! The Memory Unit, itself, has a number of living room-like sitting areas, a dining area, the activity room arranged cafe-style, TV, etc. The residents go on wheelchair accessible bus rides on scenic trips to admire and enjoy the natural surroundings of New Hampshire. The Memory Unit features an intimate outside garden where residents can walk along the path or sit comfortably in chairs under a canopy. A particularly pleasing element to Langdon is the familiarity with which the faculty staff knows your loved one personally, by name—not just the nursing staff, but the CNAs, dining servers and even maintenance and other departments. Not only is the unit clean and comfortable for residents and visitors, alike, my father always looks neatly dressed, clean and well groomed. Clearly, I am pleased with and recommend Langdon Place!

Some of the people here are wonderful, but too many are either incompetent or, perhaps due to understaffing, are too busy to really know what's going on or give the residents the care they want. The food is just OK. Being part of the largest nursing home corporation in the country, protocols are often insensitive, unnecessary and intrusive, though some of this may be due to legal requirements. That said, many similar establishments are worse, sometimes much worse.

One of the few places where my mother liked being for rehabilitation services. It is also one of the few where she is actually received a considerable amount of physical therapy and ortho services. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. There was a lovely little outdoor seating area where we could visit and the kids could run around while we visited grandma. I would highly recommend.

My grandmother moved to rehab at Langdon in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. Her mental and physical health had shown signs of decline, and she was having increased difficulty with self care. Don't know what we would have done without the amazing caring and support of staff and administration! My grandmother passed away recently, peacefully and with a smile on her heart. My mom moved into a lovely one bedroom apartment at Langdon Place of Dover Assisted Living 4 1-2 years ago at age 95. My dad had died 6 years earlier and she was very lonely, rambling around in her 4 bedroom house. What a game changer this was for her. All of a sudden she was part of a community with people to talk to, communal dining, organized games, entertainment, etc.....as much or as little as she wanted. She was no longer alone with nothing to do. Mom really enjoyed living there. It allowed her to still live independently but with safety. It took a huge weight off my brothers and my shoulders. With RNs and staff on every floor, we didnt have to constantly worry about whether she was OK. The last year (with Covid-19) has of course been challenging. I took comfort in knowing that she was being well cared for by the wonderful staff. They were in frequent communication with me. The Administrator, Kathleen Oby, held frequent Zoom meetings with the families of residents. My mom started failing this January and passed away on January 27th at age 100. I will never forget how compassionate and caring all of the nurses, staff, and administration of Langdon Place were during her final days. I will also never forget the support they gave us as a family during that emotional time. The staff is what makes or breaks a place in my opinion and they were exceptional. Langdon Place of Dover was the perfect place for Mom to spend her last years. We were lucky to have found them and we are eternally grateful.

My parents were at a point in their lives where they needed assisted living. Langdon Place offered them what they were looking for and has exceeded their expectations. They love going to the dining room for good food and conversations with the residents they have met. On Tuesdays they go out to a different restaurant for lunch and they also go on mystery rides, to plays and musicals. They are busier now than when they lived in their own home. The staff is very caring and always greets you with a smile. They enjoy their spacious apartment and have availed themselves of the wonderful medical care when needed. The facility is very clean, well maintained and beautiful, especially around Christmas. Thank you to all the staff for making my parents feel so very welcome and a part of a wonderful family. It took a while to talk my parents into moving into assisted living and totally understandable. Leaving your home is hard for anyone. But the folks at Langdon made the transition seamless and now my parents are happier then theyre been in a very long time! Theyre active and involved and just told me that their biggest surprise was just how nice everyone is! From the staff to the residents. And for the firsttime in years they told me they were too busy for me to visit!!Since my mom doesnt have a google account Im adding her review here:Three months at Langdon seems like three days! thanks to all the staff, nurses, cooks, wait staff and directors that have made our stay so comfortable and loving. The residents here are friends already, so friendly and caring of one another.We have a lovely woman who comes in on Tuesdays to give our place a cleaning and she is great!To be honest we feared moving here as we were so used to our independence. Not necessary! We have plenty of independence here and are honestly freer to do what we wish but also have the professional medical staff if necessary.Many thanks to one and all here at Langdon Place!Loretta and David Beach, current residents

My mother moved into Langdon place more than 16 years ago. The staff provided very competent and compassionate care to her during her time in their facility. When her health declined they facilitated hospice care so she could stay in her room with her cat and family till the end of her life at the age of eighty seven years. We could not be more pleased with the management and staff at Langdon Place. In fact we had her memorial service there today so the staff could share in the service.

When Mom couldnt live alone anymore, Langdon Place fit her needs perfectly. Clean, bright, and spactious room. A staff that was able to answer any question we had without hesitation. Up-front information about pricing, terms, and options made it an easy decision for us. Mom has been there about 6 months now and has settle in quite nicely. I did receive a call from the care staff on her floor after she had a minor fall, and they didnt hesitate to call despite the late hour. I am very comfortable knowing that Mom has folks around her that care and know her personally.

My mom was a patient at Langdon place of Dover from the beginning of February to March after a terrible fall. She suffered many broken bones and trauma. The staff at Langdon place was very loving and caring. From the nurses, therapists, LNA ‘s maintenance and housekeeping . Always tentative and willing to help or fix whatever was going on. She had to have follow up surgery in March and returned to Langdon place after a few weeks at an acute rehab. She said she felt like she was returning home to the friends she had made during her first stay. Thankfully she was able to come home at the end of May and was up and walking 100 feet, able to dress and toilet herself, fix her own food at home . They set up visiting nurses for her through their wonderful social services director. I am blessed to have had such a wonderful outcome. We will hopefully return after her next surgery. Admissions does a wonderful job and worked very hard getting her in for her first and second admissions. Thank you to all the staff and even the secretaries in the front office whom always welcome you with warmth and smilies .

I know someone who works at Langdon Place of Dover. Though she never tells me about personal information or names, she always gets so excited about her patients and their recovery. My friend always expresses how Wonderful it is to see someone who has been so sick finally up and walking. I know how hard my friend works and her team mates on caring for each of their patients. I always think how nice it is to see someone so dedicated become so excited about someone she or her coworkers care for each day. Several months ago I moved my aunt into a lovely 1 bedroom apartment at Langdon Place. Both she and I are extremely happy with the level of care and attention by all members of the staff and Susan the director. The transition for my aunt (and her cat) has been a smooth one despite it being a stressful move. My aunt has independence yet is still well cared for with all her medical needs attended to. There are fun activities both on the grounds and field trips. I would highly recommmend Langdon Place to anyone who is looking for quality, attentive care in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Bad experience My mother was recently at Langdon for rehab and there 3 weeks. Her PT/OT was inconsistent day to day, she had to wait over an hour for any assistance when she'd ring her bell, the first two days she was there she didn't even see a physical therapist, she had a new ostomy and required teaching and the teaching she received was inconsistent as well. So when it was time for her to leave, she was NOT ready to go home and care for her ostomy and physically she wasn't at her baseline. She didn't even have a PCP set up for when she left, so that VNA could go see her once she was home. My sister had to tell the social worker to get her a PCP appointment for after she leaves, as VNA won't see her until she's established with them. She was also going to be sent home without ostomy supplies. And the anti hypertensives she was sent home on the instructions on how to take them were so confusing to her, that even her new PCP couldn't believe it. Therefore, subsequentmy sister paid for my mothers copay to stay 3extra days in rehab, as Medicare would only cover the first 20 days at 100% just so my mother could be prepared to go home. My mother went home on a Tuesday and had a massive stroke on that thursday from a blood clot in her leg. You tell me, was the swelling missed at rehab or did this just happen suddenly? Guess we'll never know, but I do know that her rehab experience at your facility was awful!
