My mother has recently passed and was a resident of Langdon Place of Dover for 15 years. She started out in Independent Living with my father. They moved to Assisted Living when their need for nursing assistance increased, and my mom stayed there long after my father passed. For the last three and a half months of her life she was in the Memory Care unit. I can’t say enough about the quality of care she received, the loving way that care was delivered, the clear communication every step of the way and the niceness of the facility itself. So many nurses, LPN’s, home health care aids and administrative staff went above and beyond for the care and comfort of my beloved mom. I am hesitant to name names for fear of missing someone and I don’t generally know last names, but I do have to call out the unsurpassed kindnesses of Lynn and Lois, nurses Sarah and the two Donna’s who mostly worked on the second floor (one of the Donna’s now works in Administration, I believeshe’s fabulous), the overnight nurse from the second floor whose name escapes me (full of personality and LOVED my mom), Heather, Director of Nursing and the other Heather, Manager of Nursing who frequently worked in the memory care unit and who answered my numerous questions and distributed deep care and concern for my mom, Marie, another nurse who cared so lovingly for my mom, especially as she lay dying, and finally the two wonderful young women both named Emma who helped my mom with her personal care needs and more in memory care. One of the two Emmas confessed she cried when my mom passed. Now THAT is care and love. And finally, my heartfelt thanks to Susan Putney who has been at Langdon Place for as long as my mom was there. Susan’s professionalism, efficiency, communication and kindness when it mattered most will never be forgotten. Thank you all so very much. You made a difference in my mom’s life and you made a difference in mine. Five stars all the way.

My 91 year old dad was recovering from a fall in the Langdon Rehab when we decided it was best for him to move into their assisted living wing. He loved the PT there and all the attention he received from the nurses and aids. We also appreciated the support we received from the admin staff Mary Johnson, Kelly Degan and Susan Putney. They are all compassionate professionals willing to spend time with me thinking through what was best for my dad’s individual situation.

From the first time I played music there with 3 Shades of Gray I said "If I Ever have a need or want to reside in a Seniors Residency, THIS is where I WANT to be!" Our mother has been at Langdon Place of Dover , memory care , for almost 7 months now. The change in mother’s health and overall well-being has been dramatic. And I believe it is due 100% to the outstanding care and attention she is receiving at Langdon Place! Prior to her arrival at LPD, she was regularly requiring trips to the Emergency Department due to falls, illnesses, etc. in the past 7 months she has not had one serious fall or been ill! No trips to the hospital. And she is daily being encouraged to join in all the multiple activities Langdon Place offers : lunch outings, musical concerts, apple harvest parties, trivia, tea parties, and so on. The staff continues to provide all the extra care you would hope your loved one would receive. Our mother is thriving under the care of the excellent staff at Langdon Place of Dover and I feel moving her there was the absolute best decision I could have made!

I recently was a patient at Langdon Place for rehab with a broken anklefirst getting to my room I notice a huge hole in the wall, there behind the reclining chair, another one that was partially repaired on the other side of the room. I had been there previously 2 yrs ago and the rooms were still as drab and not as clean as should be. The staff were great although very overworked. Understaffed! But the worst thing was the food! Having been there previously and had the best food ever , I expected the same , But no way! Worst food ever! I hardly ate at all nausea just looking at it. I was told later that the previous chef had left months earlier ! I was also told that Geneses sold it to 603 Healthcare a few weeks before. Need serious help in all aspects.,

The facility is close to major highways yet tucked away in a beautiful and pastoral location. The staff is welcoming as are the residents. The activities are popular and well subscribed. i.e. bingo, Morning coffee hr., the lunch bunch, balancing exercise chair yoga, arthritis swimming, and beautiful grounds to stroll. The food served here is tasty and includes plenty of healthy vegetables, delicious entrees and some delightful chef pastry creations to top off your epicurean experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable and housekeeping provides weekly cleaning laundering and changing your linens. We have laundry rooms with machines free to residents to do our own laundry.The laundry room provides irons and ironing boards. I have been here for one month now and have met a number of friendly residents involved in various activities. I had difficulty living on my own, so what Langdon Place of Dover has to offer was just what I was looking for. I would highly recommend you check it out. I looked at a significant number of facilities. This is the one that felt right and turns out so far it is. S Nute

My father resides in the Memory Unit at Langdon. He suffers from dementia due to Alzheimer’s. At the last assisted living facility he lived in, the staff had him sitting in a wheelchair all day slumped and sleeping at a table in the lunch room. Langdon’s activity program has him keeping busy with various activities such as music, old episodes of beloved shows like the Lawrence Welk Show”even live piano music favorites. They bake and enjoy and eat what they’ve created and refreshments are provided in the afternoon. My father loves the meals and gobbles up every bite! His favorite activity is bowling. The nursing staff is friendly and caring. They spend a lot of time interacting with the residents and gently caring for them throughout the day. Perhaps the most amazing part is the physical therapy Langdon provided that resulted in my father becoming fully ambulatory again! He enjoys strolling about and chatting with others in a decoratively pleasing atmosphere. There’s nothing hospital-like about the memory unit or the assisted living apartments at Langdon. These residents have access to a heated, indoor pool, a gym, a library, a lovely dining room, religious services and various outings. Residents are invited to a regular meeting where they can make suggestions or express any personal concerns.There’s even talk of forming a book club! The Memory Unit, itself, has a number of living room-like sitting areas, a dining area, the activity room arranged cafe-style, TV, etc. The residents go on wheelchair accessible bus rides on scenic trips to admire and enjoy the natural surroundings of New Hampshire. The Memory Unit features an intimate outside garden where residents can walk along the path or sit comfortably in chairs under a canopy. A particularly pleasing element to Langdon is the familiarity with which the faculty staff knows your loved one personally, by name”not just the nursing staff, but the CNAs, dining servers and even maintenance and other departments. Not only is the unit clean and comfortable for residents and visitors, alike, my father always looks neatly dressed, clean and well groomed. Clearly, I am pleased with and recommend Langdon Place!

Some of the people here are wonderful, but too many are either incompetent or, perhaps due to understaffing, are too busy to really know what’s going on or give the residents the care they want. The food is just OK. Being part of the largest nursing home corporation in the country, protocols are often insensitive, unnecessary and intrusive, though some of this may be due to legal requirements. That said, many similar establishments are worse, sometimes much worse.

Mom lived at Langdon Place in Dover for 3 1/2years. The care staff never hesitated to act on her needs and let me know what was happening. When it came time for her to move from Assisted Living to a memory care level of care, they made the process very simple and the transition was as painless as it could have been. Mom acclimated quite quickly to her new home and the level of care remained superb. When her condition deteriorated, the staff was in constant contact and helped us in securing Hospice care to help keep Mom comfortable. They were very sympathetic and accommodating when Mom finally passed, and made the process of final arrangements as well as disposing of her personal property very easy and non-rushed. When Mom couldn't live alone anymore, Langdon Place fit her needs perfectly. Clean, bright, & spacious room. A staff that was able to answer any question we had without hesitation. Up-front information about pricing, terms, and options made it an easy decision for us. Mom has been there about 6 months now and has settle in quite nicely. I did receive a call from the care staff on her floor after she had a minor fall, and they didn't hesitate to call despite the late hour. I am very comfortable knowing that Mom has folks around her that care and know her personally.

My mom moved into a lovely one bedroom apartment at Langdon Place of Dover Assisted Living 4 1/2 years ago at age 95. My dad had died 6 years earlier and she was very lonely, rambling around in her 4 bedroom house. What a game changer this was for her. All of a sudden she was part of a community with people to talk to, communal dining, organized games, entertainment, etc.....as much or as little as she wanted. She was no longer alone with nothing to do. Mom really enjoyed living there. It allowed her to still live independently but with safety. It took a huge weight off my brothers' and my shoulders. With RNs and staff on every floor, we didn't have to constantly worry about whether she was OK. The last year (with Covid-19) has of course been challenging. I took comfort in knowing that she was being well cared for by the wonderful staff. They were in frequent communication with me. The Administrator, Kathleen Oby, held frequent Zoom meetings with the families of residents. My mom started failing this January and passed away on January 27th at age 100. I will never forget how compassionate and caring all of the nurses, staff, and administration of Langdon Place were during her final days. I will also never forget the support they gave us as a family during that emotional time. The staff is what makes or breaks a place in my opinion and they were exceptional. Langdon Place of Dover was the perfect place for Mom to spend her last years. We were lucky to have found them and we are eternally grateful.

My mom was a patient at Langdon place of Dover from the beginning of February to March after a terrible fall. She suffered many broken bones and trauma. The staff at Langdon place was very loving and caring. From the nurses, therapists, LNA s maintenance and housekeeping . Always tentative and willing to help or fix whatever was going on. She had to have follow up surgery in March and returned to Langdon place after a few weeks at an acute rehab. She said she felt like she was returning home to the friends she had made during her first stay. Thankfully she was able to come home at the end of May and was up and walking 100 feet, able to dress and toilet herself, fix her own food at home . They set up visiting nurses for her through their wonderful social services director. I am blessed to have had such a wonderful outcome. We will hopefully return after her next surgery. Admissions does a wonderful job and worked very hard getting her in for her first and second admissions. Thank you to all the staff and even the secretaries in the front office whom always welcome you with warmth and smilies .

It took a while to talk my parents into moving into assisted living and totally understandable. Leaving your home is hard for anyone. But the folks at Langdon made the transition seamless and now my parents are happier then they're been in a very long time! They're active and involved and just told me that their biggest surprise was just how nice everyone is! From the staff to the residents. And for the first time in years they told me they were too busy for me to visit!! Since my mom doesn't have a google account I'm adding her review here: "Three months at Langdon seems like three days! thanks to all the staff, nurses, cooks, wait staff and directors that have made our stay so comfortable and loving. The residents here are friends already, so friendly and caring of one another. We have a lovely woman who comes in on Tuesdays to give our place a cleaning and she is great! To be honest we feared moving here as we were so used to our independence. Not necessary! Both she and I are extremely happy with the level of care and attention by all members of the staff and Susan the director. A wonderful facility! Had a family member stay in the rehab unit for a few weeks. He was very well taken care of. If we are ever in a situation where we need to go back to a rehabilitation center we will be coming back to Langdon place!

My family and I have had a wonderful experience with the independent living section of this facility. They also have skilled nursing when and if my father should need it. I can't speak to the other reviews listed here, but I encourage you to see for yourself.

Bad experience My mother was recently at Langdon for rehab and there 3 weeks. Her PT/OT was inconsistent day to day, she had to wait over an hour for any assistance when she'd ring her bell, the first two days she was there she didn't even see a physical therapist, she had a new ostomy and required teaching and the teaching she received was inconsistent as well. So when it was time for her to leave, she was NOT ready to go home and care for her ostomy and physically she wasn't at her baseline. She didn't even have a PCP set up for when she left, so that VNA could go see her once she was home. My sister had to tell the social worker to get her a PCP appointment for after she leaves, as VNA won't see her until she's established with them. She was also going to be sent home without ostomy supplies. And the anti hypertensives she was sent home on the instructions on how to take them were so confusing to her, that even her new PCP couldn't believe it. Therefore, subsequentmy sister paid for my mothers copay to stay 3extra days in rehab, as Medicare would only cover the first 20 days at 100% just so my mother could be prepared to go home. My mother went home on a Tuesday and had a massive stroke on that thursday from a blood clot in her leg. You tell me, was the swelling missed at rehab or did this just happen suddenly? Guess we'll never know, but I do know that her rehab experience at your facility was awful!
