My family moved my recently widowed 91 year old father to memory care at Brookdale Emerson 3 months ago, and I am very happy with our decision. After my mother died, his dementia got worse & he was becoming depressed & isolated living in his home, even with 24/7 caregivers. Since moving him here, he is so much happier! I credit the tender & loving care of the staff in Clare Bridge (memory care unit), led by Teresita Garca. For the first time in years, I no longer worry about my father's physical or emotional wellbeing because I know he is in great hands.

We moved my Dad into the memory care ward in January. The transition was easier than expected. The staff is very kind attentive and patient. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. It’s a small group of residents, so it’s more personal. And when I visited on Saturday (less than 4 months there), Dad was saying how much he felt at home there and enjoyed both the staff and the residents. That’s a great feeling because it’s emotionally difficult for children to move parents into a care facility. Thank you to all of the staff and management at Brookdale - Emerson, NJ.

Brookdale Emerson has worked hard to provide a safe supportive space for my mother. There are some amazing specific staff members that have made such a huge and positive impact on her life and mine (we could not have survived without Pamella). Wayne in operations continues to check in and keep things in good working order. The current leadership and nursing teams have also been sensitive and understanding and made things so much better. Thank you everyone and the new transition to memory care with Teresita was great.

Update as of February 7 ,2026 - i want to acknowledge the maintenance team under Wayne. They are terrific and very responsive. They keep my mom's apartment clean and have gone above and beyond to install a motion light in her closet and move the bars to make it easier for mom to navigate. Thanks Wayne and team. You rock. From the moment I moved my mom into Brookdale of Emerson, I knew she was in good hands. The team of nurses and Caregivers is great. They are kind, highly responsive and even encouraged me to take a vacation as they saw how stressed I was. When my mom needed pre-surgery cleansing, they took control and did not even charge extra. Thank you team.

There are plenty of activities, a strong social community between the residents and the staff. The rooms are nice, great care is taken to keep the building clean and safe, and the nursing staff is very attentive and try their best to keep everyone healthy. They work hard to accommodate the residents for their various needs, are very quick to respond to emergencies and are experienced enough to determine whether or not a resident requires more acute medical attention.

We moved my Mom to Emerson Brookdale from Texas back in March. She is really enjoying her time there. She especially enjoys the activities planned by Carol, the Event Organizer! The have multi-cultural events, museum field trips, magic and musical entertainment as well as seasonal events with entertainment. Mom is having a great time and we appreciate Carol so much for all she does! Did I mention the activities? Last week they made gorgeous fall wreaths! There is flower arranging, rock painting and flower pot painting! Thanks Carol for keeping your residents entertained and engaged!

Teresita, Activities Director has been doing a wonderful job with my mother.!!! My mother is in the memory care section and Teresita always has creative and fun activities for the residence, and make sure that my mother does not spend too much time alone in her room, which was a concern of mine when she moved over to that section . It’s a lovely facility, the food is amazing ! They basically have food that is homemade and my mother is very happy with the food there. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone in need of long-term care and assisted living.

I am a musician and entertainer, I make a large part of my living performing in assisted living communities. Several locations being Brookdale Senior living. I want to say that I always have a great time performing at brookdale Emerson as well as the other Brookdale locations I frequent. I am happy to say the residents always sing and dance along, and seem to really enjoy themselves when I share my Music with them. The staff at Brookdale always make me feel welcome and appreciated as well. It is clear to me, that Brookdale cares deeply for their residents as well as their business partners, and I am looking forward to visiting again.

My father, Teddy, is loving his life at Brookdale Emerson! He is so happy with his comfortable studio apartment that is cleaned weekly, the wonderful activities and shows that Carol sets up to include everyone, the people from the front desk and having the security of people around you who care! He feels welcome and cared for all the time! I really have never seen him be so social! It is such a wonderful feeling to call him, and know he is happy and being looked after. I am so grateful for him to have this place! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

My MIL was at Brookdale Emerson for about a year. This review is for the wonderful people we interacted with while she was there. In particular we want to recognize her aide Audrea (a wonderful, caring and truly lovely person inside and out), Vanessa the director of activities (who helped us SO much with transportation while we were going through cancer treatments, and who is always providing great and interactive experiences for the residents ), and a few of the nursing staff who were so proactive and empathetic with our Moms care. Specifically Rachel, Tamara, and Monika. All warm and caring, and not afraid to make decisions when situations required it. I can’t forget to mention one person who helped us so much, and that’s Nancy at the front desk. Always greeted us with a smile, and I could always count on her to find who I needed to talk to, and also when I needed to get in touch with Mom, Nancy was my go to to get it done. She is a lovely part of the Brookdale family, they are lucky to have her. Sadly Mom passed away a month ago but knowing she was so warmly cared for during her time at Brookdale made such a big difference.

I like the prices of this facility. I've done a lot of research on assisted living/memory care places and these prices are very good. However, I did have a difficult time with the head of sales. I had called six months ago to get prices. Just yesterday I called again to see if those prices increased. He was reluctant to provide those numbers and then put me on hold saying someone else was calling. Then the line was disconnected. I spoke to the Executive Director who apologized for the sales director's behavior saying he thought I was a competitor trying to get inside information.

So happy to have found such a wonderful caring facility. After my sister had passed I needed a place to care for my brother in law. After much research, Brookdale was the best choice. I don't have to worry anymore because I know that he is receiving the best care possible. He is in the Clare Bridge memory care unit. The staff is absolutely fantastic. The level of care he is getting there is all I can ask for. Kathleen Castagno is so involved in the love and the care of her patients. She makes them feel like a member of her own family. The facility is clean and there is an abundance of food. They provide entertainment and activities for their patients and attend to their individual needs. They are given their medication as needed, and have their own doctors on staff. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, and wish for a peaceful transition, then this is the place for you. I highly recommend Brookdale Emerson for your loved one.

My brother has been a resident of the memory care facility of 3 Brookdale facilities thus far. Emerson is by far the most outstanding. I can't say enough good things about the caring, loving, personal, warm and cleanly atmosphere that greets you as the doors open. You know that your loved one has reached their second home upon entering. The genuineness of the staff from the Executive Director Alnica Moore to the directors such as Kathlene Castagno to the activities director, Carol Habler, etc., everyone truly is invested in the residents. It's heartwarming to see. I find it heartwarming that the residents are not only treated with dignity and love but they are encouraged to be the best and most positively active they can be. Our family had some concerns and the team provided both a temporary solution and then worked quickly to meet our long-term needs. They even moved furniture and personal items from the old room to the new one.

This is a wonderful place! The Residents enjoy living here and have great relationships with the staff. The staff is very caring and respectful of the needs of the residents. The public areas are clean and in good repair. There is an uplifted feeling as soon as you enter. I would highly recommend this assisted living to anyone who is looking.
