I recently visited Summer Breeze Assisted Living while looking for options for my aunt, and I was very impressed. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the community had a warm, family-like atmosphere. The residents were engaged, socializing, and seemed genuinely happy. It felt like a place where people are cared for and encouraged to stay active and connected. Overall, a very positive experience and a wonderful first impression.

Love the staff at Summer Breeze! My mother has been @ Summer Breeze for 6 months now & loves it! The staff go above & beyond to ensure her happiness, health, safety, & inclusion. They have activities daily keeping her engaged & providing a sense of community. My mother especially loves the manicure Mondays, wine & music on Wednesdays! Every staff member greets me when they see me & makes sure the whole family is happy with the environment they have provided for my mother. I find consistency with support of the staff even during my unscheduled visits, patience with my many questions, and willingness & joy to always help.

I always appreciate the receptionist who greets people. She is very friendly and gives assistance where needed. The staff is very supportive to the residents. I do a program once a month for the residents with music and a devotional. The residents always state how much they appreciate being there and the staff who helps provide support to them. This senior living facility is and always has been great! Much of the staff, from leadership to care staff to kitchen, have been there many many years. There is always something going on, whether a special event, organized activity or just residents engaging one another on their own!

This place is special because the staff is special, especially Patty, Lori, and Ashley. My grandmother transitioned here because it was the only place she said she would ever go outside of her home, and after seeing how they cared for her, it was clear why she felt that way. Our family was not an easy one to manage, but this group did all they could to be caring, thoughtful, and patient as we worked through a difficult time for all. I am forever grateful for their kindness and highly recommend Summer Breeze.

I have hesitated to post a review, but I feel that I owe it to families looking to place their loved one here. My mom was in the MC unit for almost 3 years , starting during COVID in July of 2020. I have multiple issues and stories to tell, but I will try to keep it short and succinct. To sum it up, the MC unit is very crowded and in need of updating. The residents are squished into a very small living room area that only really has enough room for about 8 max to be comfortable, and 8 is a stretch! The aide staff while Mom was there was very caring, and I was comfortable with her being there. However, they had a hard time doing their jobs because they were not supported by management and no care plan was ever given. Also, when I did have any concerns, management became defensive and unresponsive. My mother fell last June and had to go to the hospital with a brain bleed, and no one from SB mgt bothered to call and check on her or give us any guidance on what next steps to take. When we finally got back to SB, Mom declined rather rapidly and began having seizures, with the last one resulting in a fall and gash to her head. 2 days later I was informed by the MC manager that my mother needed to be moved to a nursing home, that she had exceeded their care level, which I completely understand, but Patty Dixon didn’t have the balls to tell me that to my face, nor did the new nurse manager come and explain it to me or assist me and explain options. They also didn’t bother, once Mom was moved to Azalealand, to ever call and check to see how she was, not that I expected them to. But to me, it’s common courtesy when you have a residential facility that you care so much about your residents, that you would want to follow up on them. All that being said, them kicking her out was actually a blessing because I no longer have to deal with the deceitful, underhanded, negative drama that surrounded the last three years, and I now have my mother in a fabulous nursing home in MO. The difference is night and day!! I can’t even tell you how clean the new place is (SB not so much!), which I complained about but nothing was ever done. Also, the new facility has wonderful activities, and they are literally engaging with the residents, taking them to the activities, treating them like older moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas should be treated! Also, I have learned since Mom was kicked out that they have fired most all of the staff that cared for her. In summation, if you are looking to place a loved one into a MC facility, I suggest you look around!!

Summer Breeze community and staff are a godsend to our family. In the winter of 2022 we moved my mother to the Summer Breeze community after two years of Covid isolation. Living alone in Atlanta, mini strokes and mandated cessation of all interaction (church, social & volunteer) had taken a real toll on her quality of life. The past six months have made all the difference. The facility, staff and residents are all very engaging and encouraging. They made a dreaded transition incredibly smooth. The community is roomy, spotless, bright and light, with the coastal vibe that is Wilmington Island. It sits in a lovely neighborhood, next to Savannah Country Club, not concrete sprawl. Mom loves the front porch with rockers. The management of medications and a diet of three great meals a day has brought my mothers strength back. (My mother recently told a waiter at the 1790 Restaurant downtown, I get to eat like this every day.) Engaging twice a week therapy and monthly nail and hair appointments are a definite plus. There is regular dialogue regarding prescriptions and health issues. Choosing to be active in moms life, we have found communication with management, household and healthcare staff to be timely and on point. My mother takes advantage of the many activities and travel opportunities offered to residence. She still talks about seeing the Savannah Bannanas at Grayson Stadium, which is one of the hottest tickets in Savannah. We have also appreciated the fact that the leadership at Summer Breeze are folks with roots in Savannah. Many of the residents come from families, businesses and faith communities that are integral to the city of Savannah. This is real community. The best part is, Summer Breeze has given my mother the safety, support and strength to get back out into the world, doing the things she has always wanted to do. So, at the 6 month mark, we want to publicly thank the incredible team at Summer Breeze.

The care from the staff while my mother was there was awesome. Everybody is so kind. It’s very clean, the meals were delicious, and the activities were great, trips to Tybee, music, and arts and crafts kept her busy! The staff genuinely care about their residents.

The staff at Summer Breeze goes above and beyond to make our parents feel safe and cared for. They have many enjoyable activities, safely distanced during this quarantine, to keep them involved.
