My mother lived in the Independent living apartments, The Terraces, at Westmont of Chico. Mom was there for 4.5 years and we were so happy to see how she had settled in and had established a routine and started a new chapter. Things were great for the majority of that time. The staff was friendly and her apartment very nice. The grounds were lovely. Mom’s rent was raised almost $1500 in those four+ years. By the end it was roughly $5500 a month. The maintenance on the apartment was not great (the guys did help her do a lot). The heating/AC unit was held together with duct tape. The paint was splotchy (it was touched up at move in with the wrong finish and never fixed even though we asked, several times in the beginning). The windows were metal framed and difficult to open and close. Mom fell and was unable to return to her apartment. That is when there was a change in attitude from some staff. Things were taken from her apartment between my visits before she passed. We had kept the apartment in n the interim while we thought she would be moving to the memory care side. I brought the missing items up to the director who, after several conversations, blamed family; basically that would have been myself and my son as we were the ones to be in the apartment . He also tried to blame IHHS workers, whom we trusted. One of the items had gone missing prior to them starting. Some items were irreplaceable. Others just an inconvenience. I had been warned by other residents about some staff having sticky fingers, I just didn’t want to believe that. It was proven to be the case. To say my family and I are greatly disappointed in how this handled is an understatement. We were so happy when Mom was there. And then to have to deal with this after her death was incomprehensible.

I highly recommend Westmont of Chico Assisted Living! Their team truly goes above and beyond to care for their residents. They provide a safe, supportive environment and make sure residents receive the continued support they need, especially after returning from a hospital stay. Jon and Dezra are incredibly friendly and genuinely care about the well-being of every resident. They take the time to ensure everyone has what they need and help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The facility itself is very clean and well managed, which really reflects the pride the staff takes in their community. My mother lived at the Inn for several years, then transitioned to Compass Rose. We loved both facilities. The caregivers were simply unbelievably kind, understanding and good at their work. The nurses at both facilities were excellent and any time I had questions or concerns, management dealt with them promptly and effectively. The activities and social opportunities meant that my mom’s last years were full of meaning, and when the end of her life came, everyone at Compass Rose did everything they could to make her comfortable and well cared for. We could not have asked for more assistance and support. I will always remember the many acts of kindness and will be forever grateful to the wonderful staff who showed us such love and support.

I had to do an assessment on a resident and from the time I entered the door until I left, I was well received. The rooms and communal areas were clean and tidy and lunch was superb! I was looking for an assisted living facility for my Mom after she was to be discharged from the hospital. We met with Jon, received a tour of the facility, and he kept in close contact with us. Our journey in the hospital had many twists and turns, ups and downs, but Jon communicated with us through it all. We were unable to take advantage of the lovely facility due to my Mom’s condition worsening. Even when Westmont was no longer an appropriate place for her, Jon was available and assisted in trying to find a suitable place for her to live. I really appreciated the time and effort he made for us, and knew he had our best interest at heart.

My mother lives in Chico, CA at The Terraces Memory Care Community known as Compass Rose. She is very well cared for by Pomali Thitphaneth and her amazing, dedicated staff. I feel comforted knowing my Mom is safe, respected and happy at Compass Rose. She engages in most of the daily activities including: exercise, live music, crafts, trivia, scenic drives with Dwayne, holiday events and more! Mom has made friends within her community and enjoys sharing time with them. Her studio is decorated with her favorite furniture and collection of artwork and keepsakes. It is clean and tidy and has a view onto the garden patio. Our family and friends are encouraged to visit Mom when we like. We have dined and had private parties in the adjacent Lodge Dining Room. We are so fortunate to be part of this wonderful extended family and caring team!

I spent several months trying to find the right living arrangement for my parents in Chico. After visiting the The Lodge at The Terraces and touring with Stacey, I knew I had found the place they could call home. Stacey was absolutely amazing! She helped my parents and I navigate the change, and she patiently helped them select the best apartment to meet their needs. My parents moved in a month ago and are very, very happy! The staff is so kind and caring! My parents are treated with respect and all of their needs are met. They still have their independence, but my family and I can sleep soundly knowing they are safe. I want to thank Stacey and the entire staff at The Terraces for welcoming my parents and helping them navigate this new chapter in their lives.

After falling and breaking a hip, my 89 year old Dad spent his last days under the care of the wonderful staff of caregivers at Compass Rose at the Terraces. Every single person who provided his care showed compassion and professionalism, giving me assurance that my Dad was getting the best. Roberto and Uriel were especially great at connecting personally with my Dad and his family members. Johnny and Pom were always available to answer questions and made the transition from post- acute rehab to long term care as painless as possible. Even though my Dad was completely dependent on others’ care for his daily needs, he was treated with dignity and respect. When my Dad went to his final rest, the staff provided compassion and support as I was grieving. Compass Rose is a first-class Memory Care facility and they have my gratitude and highest regard. I've been to The Terraces many times and have found it to be a great experience every time. There always seems to be something fun going on, and the staff are really excellent. I recently stopped by for lunch and was impressed by the restaurant-quality menu and food. While I was there, a couple of the residents who noticed me as a new face made a point to stop by and say "hello". It's really a friendly atmosphere, and the residents made a point to tell me how great the staff is, and how everyone from the Executive Director on down is approachable, friendly, and helpful. Based on my experiences there, I highly recommend.

My Mom has been at The Terraces for several months now. Not only does she love it, but my husband and I are so pleased with the facility and staff as well. The staff is sincerely amazing. They genuinely care for their clients. They really know my mom and her interests and special needs. Christina, the activities coordinator, is sincerely fantastic. She makes things engaging and safe and fun for the clients, providing enrichment and support. Duane is such a great guy, always participating with everyone and keeping a safe eye on clients as he takes them on errands and scenic drives on the bus. Stacy is full of love, energy and experience. I can ask her anything and she knows the answer. I’m grateful she’s around to keep an eye on my mom. Brad, the manager is available and present and kind. The wait staff at the restaurant is great too, having fun interacting with clients and knowing each person’s tastes and preferences. It’s fantastic. The food is so good. Tonight, we were able to attend a great event for all the clients having birthdays in January, including my mom. There was a choice of a fancy meal including beef tenderloin or coconut shrimp, twice baked potato, spinach, soup and dessert, along with champagne. Games and raffles, singing and get to know you time happened as well. True community. I highly recommend the Terraces if you’re looking for a warm, well rounded, safe and clean place for your aging parent.

My dad is at the Terraces. The location is beautiful and he loves his room. The food has taken a decided turn for the worse. The 5 star restaurant review no longer holds. There is likely a move to save money, however food is frequently served well beyond when it should be (overcooked and tough). As a result, he often eats outwhich is an added expense to an already expensive place. My mom was at Sycamore Glen and the food there was really good. My advice would be to talk to the residents before you make your decision. UPDATE: Early in 2023, the food took a decided turn for the better. Many meals were quite good. Hopefully this trend will continue.

I moved into The Terraces three months ago, needing a safe and secure place to heal from an unexpected illness. My daughter-in-law and I toured the facility in September with the Community Director, Stacey. During our meeting, she was professional, considerate of my needs, and very personable, with an incredibly warm demeanor. As we explored the facility, it was well-maintained inside and out, with a choice of lovely apartments to rent. After learning about the menu choices, community interaction opportunities and extensive activities offered, I signed the contract. Upon move-in, the staff was supportive, friendly, and considerate. I was able to continue my physical therapy with an amazing, on-site team of professionals. I met interesting, friendly residents willing to share stories of their life and extend an invitation to participate in new experiences together. And most importantly, there was an air of dedicated teamwork, from the Executive Director, Brad, to the kitchen/maintenance staff and everyone in between, that provided a feeling of security and safety to me, personally and to the residents as a whole. I saw evidence of that when I came down to lunch one day to see Brad in an apron taking food orders and hustling trays back and forth to the kitchen. It made me smile in appreciation of such leadership. As my days turned into months here at the Terraces, I have had many experiences that have assured me that I made the right decision to make this my home. I encourage you to make that appointment and take a tourand be sure to knock on my door and say hello!

The administrators and staff are extremely accommodating of my elderly dad. As his power of attorney they routinely communicate to me his needs, and do so with compassion and dignity. To say the personel at the Terraces are professional is understated. There's a cultural of passion for the work, and the place that is not to common these days. We have come to see the place as home, and would recommend it to anyone that seeks the type of care the Terraces has to offer.
