When I walk into Kirkwood someone starts your visit with a greeting and checking in is easy to do. It’s bright and airy and the bulletin boards have positive praise for the caretakers and I saw a board with all the residents that served in the military. It reminds you of a home and not an institution. Thank you for the extra effort!

My family had an excellent experience with the skilled nursing team at Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels while my dad was there. The weekday, night, and weekend nurses were all compassionate, caring, very attentive, and genuinely invested in his well-being. Every staff member we encountered was highly knowledgeable and kept us informed throughout his stay, which gave our family great peace of mind. The level of care, professionalism, and kindness shown to my dad exceeded our expectations. We are truly grateful for the support and attention he received. Thank you to the entire skilled nursing staff for making such a positive difference during a challenging time. I would highly recommend Kirkwood Manor to anyone seeking quality care for a loved one.

Bless my mom heart but she can be a challenge but Heidi Lien PT is an awesome and patient person with my mom . I know that sometimes it can be difficult when senior citizens that are not willing to work with their therapist . But Heidi has the experience to help clients . Great staff. Very attentive. Communicated well and everyone took tome to help us understand their process. Speech Therapist, Social Worker, Wound Care Treatment nurse. The facility was pleasant, no awful smells, clean and clutter free. They were doing renovations and it was still better than other facilities. The Wound treatment nurse went above and beyond to teach us more about wounds and treatment.

From the moment you enter the front door and greeted by friendly, smiling staff, with easy check in, to all the friendly caring staff, we knew this was the best place for my mom. They are repainting and updating the inside, and the outside has already been painted. It's going to be nice when completed. All of the staff are very happy, caring, and show concern for each patient. My mom loves everyone there. The only thing she doesn't like, is her food because unfortunately it has to be pureed. At first she said it was good, but she's grown very tired of it. She has a swallowing problem, so unfortunately she doesn't have much of a choice. We've brought in protein drinks, shakes, and food snacks she likes. We have no complaints with Kirkwood Manor!

The client care here is what makes this place stand above other more fancy looking places. While this place may not have all the glitz and glam of other facilities, it's all there to be a distraction anyways. Here, they get to know each client/community member and dedicate themselves to that person completely when caring for them and have even gone above and beyond. A CNA named Pam has been so kind-hearted as she does a quick check-in on my mother-in-law every shift she works even though my MIL got moved to longer term care- that right there encapsulates why Kirkwood Manor is the facility you want to e trust to care for your loved one. Client centered, quality care and genuine respect and support by every staff member there!

I have been impressed with the staff and facilities, I think this is one of the nicer rehabilitation centers in the area, and I feel welcomed when I come in. Everything is pretty clean and sanitary and there are comfortable spaces to sit and visit, if you don’t want to go into the room. So far so good. The staff has also been very attentive to our relative who is staying there after surgery.

I went to Kirkwood for therapy and have to say the rehab is the best ever. And all the therapists are kind and caring and they work very hard. The nursing staff was the best and they really care and they go way beyond doing their job. And the housekeeping staff are the best and kept my room very clean daily. Their activities director gives her all to make the residents stay involved in the activities. And work hard to make holidays special.Thank you for getting me better and for caring for me and other residents with loving care.

My 90 year old granny with dementia comes here for respite care. She loves the activities! I love how the nurses make such an effort to get her involved with activities daily. She always comes home well rested and clean. (We have experiences at other places in NB, where this is not the case:( ) I truly appreciate Hospice too, who facilitate her stay and always provide such great care. Kirkwood is clean, well maintained and has plenty natural light.

NEVER you this facility. Care was substandard and business office blames everything on corporate. Filed a complaint with Humana. Do so if you experienced the same for your love one. If not Humana the board of Nursing Homes. My husband would have died if I left him there.!!!!!! Do NOT leave your love one in this death home. One star doesn't even qualify.

It was terrible. I was isolated in a room even tho I had both of my COVD Vax. Very blah room, no pictures on the walls a small tv hung on the wall, maybe 26 in. and only 99 channels. From day one they lost my clothes...the clothes went to their own laundry, but often never made it back. A friend bought me several new clothes, but the person at the front someone else's name in them....a real hassle to find them. Food was terrible...at least I lost weight. I was not in there because I was ill, strictly rehab after surgery. Would bring food and put on table and it was up to me to get in position to eat. I was there 20 days, had 3 showers. Don't remember them changing the bedding. Then, the personnel. Most were kind and helpful. BUT, at 3am I needed to go to the bathroom and needed assistance because I was unable to get there or on/off the toilet on my own. When I rang saying as was finished, the RN came and I asked for assistance in getting off AND she refused. Said if I wanted off I had to do it myself! She didn't assist because she might fall and get hurt, she was fragile. Soooo, after about 15-30 minutes and a lot of pain, I got off. (The other person on duty was on her meal break). Bright and early the next morning the nursing supervisor was in my room getting and ear full...later I had a toilet seat riser in my bathroom. I STILL GET UPSET WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT!!! Also you had to know a half hour before you needed to use the bathroom, because it took that long for them to answer the call button. I can't begin to say how happy I was to get out of that place. Sorry folks, but it was emotionally and mentally the best time of my life.
