Brookdale used to be one of the best facilities in Davidson County. Over the past year or two, things have really changed and not not for the good. Staffing has gone down to a skeleton crew, so my loved one doesn’t get the same care that she used to. They can’t seem to keep a cook, so that negatively impacts the residents. The previous Director was a joke. He wouldn’t take complaints seriously. Bed linens aren’t getting washed as they should. Residents used to be taken out weekly to different restaurants/stores. That has all but come to a halt. Just a lot of issues that we are all praying will be taken care of with the return of Liz, a previous Director.

I completely and enthusiastically recommend Brookdale-Lexington to all of my friends in the Lexington Area who are dealing with a spouse or loved one who is experiencing dementia. The staff at Brookdale-Lexington is one of the mosting caring and loving collection of folks I have ever met. My family and I absolutely love the care being received by my spouse at Brookdale-Lexington.

I have never ever in my life witnessed and saw above and beyond staff before! The way they treat and handle patients is amazing! Two aides came to a local ice cream shop in the area with the residents they were both very professional and treated all residents like family and spoiled them! They engaged with the residents set with them assisted them. You don't find many people dedicated to their job in this field! I have worked in nursing homes and have never seen anything like this! You can tell they stand behind everything and treat residents like family.

Our family member arrived at Brookdale almost 3 years ago. We had looked at other places, but Brookdale Lexington seemed more lively and upbeat. We are pleased with the care he has received. Staff, including the personal care givers, medication techs, director, managers and primary care provider, have been very accessible and accommodating. Our family member has extensive health issues and they have been right on top of continually assessing his needs. It’s a plus that Brookdale Lex is small compared with other places. There’s definitely a sense of community which is so vital to the emotional well-being of the residents.

My dad was admitted to the Memory Care unit on January 28th after spending 4 weeks in a skilled nursing facility. Since becoming a resident at Brookdale Lexington he is walking again with a Rollator and his physical appearance has improved significantly. His mental state has stabilized, he is more social, smiles and laughs more, etc. We are very happy with the staff and the facility. The communication is great. We get updates and questions answered in a timely manner and are encouraged to visit with not just dad but with the other residents. It is very rewarding. Nothing is prefect, but if you do have a concern the staff will listen and work with you to address whatever concern you may have. Brookdale Lexington includes the entire family in Dad's care. We are very happy we moved dad into this facility.

When our mother moved into Brookdale, it was like she had always been there. She made friends the very first day. The staff are incredible! Mom says the food is great and that the staff are wonderful to her. Not to mention it is very clean and beautiful! We could not be happier that mom is at Brookdale.

I feel Brookdale of Lexington is the best assisted living in our area. You walk up to front door and you see residents sitting on front porch talking with each other. They offer a home life environment. Staff works so hard and really care about our loved ones.

My father-in-law has been at this facility 2 weeks as of tomorrow and we have nothing but great things to say! First, Liz and Michelle are awesome!!! Kind, knowledgeable and patient! Liz even got a broom and helped with finishing clean up in order to expedite things for us to move his things in and decorate the room!!! He is adjusting and participates in the various crafts and activities they provide and enjoys his meals!! Whenever we call or visit we are always greeted with smiling faces or a cheery voice over the phone. They answer all questions we have and provide us with any extra details we need or may enjoy hearing! We are very happy with our decision!!!

Prior to Mother's residence she was depressed and often angry. Since arriving at Brookdale she has blossomed and is happy and engaged with the community. She has returned to being the social butterfly I recall as a child.

This post is on behalf of Brookdale Lexington resident Ruby Parks. Ruby just recently turned 100 yrs old with friends and family here at Brookdale Lexington. When asked what Ruby thinks of our Brookdale community and it's staff, Ruby states, "This is my home. Everyone is real nice to me and they treat me good. We have activities with Hannah and she is so sweet. We have good food all the time and it's more than I can eat. I have a lot of friends here. This is my home."

I am impressed with the way this particular Brookdale location stays in touch with the community. I've been in the long term care industry for years and Michelle Atkins sets this location apart from others by proactively engaging the public in an ongoing basis. The older veteran community has a special place in their heart for Michelle and her patriotic nature. They actually charge $1400.+ more for a private room. The other twin bed is still in there. The furniture looks like it was reclaimed from a landfill. The rooms and living area are OFTEN dirty. They claim to do each person's laundry separately but I couldn't bear the way Mom looked. Sad.
