I brought my friend some food for lunch. He couldn’t eat it all & wanted to save the rest for dinner. I went to the nurses station & asked for a plastic bag with some ice. The ice machine wasn’t working at the time. The staff gave me a plastic bag plus ice packs. They were so very nice & helpful. Thank you!

Overall, very nice experience with friendly helpful staff. Only two suggestions. While visiting my friend, they were moving in another patient across the hall and the process was extremely noisy. Why not close the door doors of the other patients nearby at those times. The sign and machine is a bit complicated but I understand the need. But at least move it out of the corner where it is more easily accessible, but overall an impressive operation.

Amazing place. Management are all approachable. The therapists (all four so far) are friendly and committed in helping my daughter recover from her surgery. I highly recommend this facility. Also, facility is always clean. Food is prepared and presented in an appealing way.

Sadly, I’ve had to change my review. While it was initially higher, and the nursing and support staff are still great ppl, they are very understaffed, which indicates they are not paying staff enough. Moreover, if your loved one has co-morbidity issues, like my mom, it’s not the right fit, due to under-staffing. My mom came in for therapy after a broken hip. Therapy staff are great. But if there are other issues (my mom has chronic UTIs,) it’s not a good fit. We went to pick up my mom for discharge and immediately had ti take her to Marin General due to dangerously low sodium levels (120 - resulted at 2:15 am without an ambulance being called.) we asked them in the morning if they would call an ambulance and take her to Marin General, however we’re told that if she appears stable, they won’t take her. When we got to the hospital, she was completely delirious, hallucinations both visual and audio. We had to insist that they call an ambulance, after they suggest she stay there until she was better. They are NOT a critical care/emergency facility. Once we got to Marin General, we were able to see how bad her skin was where her diaper had been. She had a bad fungus infection that they’re now treating at the hospital that nobody noticed. She was left far too long and wet diapers, Which clearly indicates understaffing. They have a doctor based out of San Leandro that they have to call to get any type of orders or instructions. Definitely find another location if there are comorbidity issues. If it’s just physical therapy, you’re looking for, it will suffice and the staff with therapy are great. However, if there’s anything else you have to worry about. I recommend going somewhere else.

Her caregivers address me by name, which is rare in hospitals. The staff makes it easy and comfortable to visit. There is a quick check-in process that is automated at a kiosk. No invasive screening by security guards.

I have yet to meet anyone who wants to be in a skilled nursing facility. But, when my husband was told that he had to go to one, of the three places we were offered, Smith Ranch was the best option for rehabilitation and PT. He was not a willing participant in his transition there and wasn’t cooperative about much else while there, except PT and OT. To my surprise, he liked the food better than at the hospital and he was pretty cooperative about PT and OT. Smith Ranch bent over backwards to make him feel better. He was moved to a room that was quiet and was given a lovely roommate. He had excellent PT and OT. We were able to get him outside for fresh air and sunshine. He made good progress and was able to establish a plan to progress towards his exit. Once he had a goal in mind, he worked hard and was motivated. Smith Ranch PT and OT was instrumental in helping him find his motivation and keep focused. He made quick progress!

This is my 2nd time visiting a loved one that was being housed there. The facility is different this time around, as patients were on the basement floor when I last visited, but now patients are upstairs on the 1st floor. The place is clean and well staffed. My cousin seemed to be happy and in a good mood. His roommate was nice too.

Smith Ranch Skilled Nursing is an excellent facility providing first class rehab.The staff is amazing and extremely caring. They provide great help and a wonderful service all around. Their social workers are very conscientious, helping and arrange transportation for the medical appointments in a very timely manner. The business office is also very friendly, informative and supportive. I can't thank enough for all the good work they do. I highly recommend this facility to those who are in needs. They have a very good entertainment during the lunch and dinner time.The dinning room is extremely clean and provide good nutritious meals.

Went to visit my grandmother who has been taken care of by the amazing staff here for the past month. They have outdone themselves with the care and kindness they provide to help make their guests and patients feel loved. They were accommodating, kind and attentive. I would like to point out that Preston Ebert, Jr. is such wonderful nurse. He was my nurse most of the time, but I also observed him attending other patients. You have a real star with Preston! It was buzzing with business. Quiet yet intense conferences in hallway. Good PATIENCE & instruction from PT & OT people.. There ought to be a way to allow a patient to watch television quietly.. such as earphones, to preserve the sleep quality, AND absolute quiet by 10 pm

2024 and I needed a place for a family member to get Physical therapy and Occupational therapy .. So happy to have been able to have her placed here. The care is wonderful, and very respectful. Her insurance is Medicare and she will have PT & OT every weekday. When I was there years back I had wonderful care too. The physical therapy and OT are absolutely fabulous... The CNA's. are soo wonderful and as long as I am saying this...all the nurses are great too.. What they do need is a separate room ..besides the dining room to read...hang out etc... so many people just sit outside their rooms, in the hallway... Thank you Smith Ranch

They may try but their nursing skills leave much to be desired. Not treating UTIs in an elderly pt and causing him to almost die from urosepsis. Time and time again ignoring this pt’s symptoms. Disgraceful!

Twice once after my back surgery for 28 days and I got exceptional care good occupation therapy very friendly people and I chose to go there a secondTime in 2018 the first time was in 2013 I would go back here as a first-choice.

This is my third time here in 5 years. Contrary to all the negative reviews i think it is great! Both PT and OT are excellent. the food is perfectly fine and the room attendants come quickly on most occasions. i honestly do not understand all of the one and two star reviews. it is a solid 4 and likely more like a 5. absolutely no complaints at all.The nurses, room attendants, and everyone else are friendly and attentive. do NOT believe the negative reviews. I find it hard to believe that any are grounded in reality.
