We chose River Oaks for my mom's first memory care experience. The sales team really lays it on thick, for sure. The facility itself is very nice and we have no complaints about that. Communication is an issue with them. For one of several examples, my mother fell and was taken to the emergency room. No one from River Oaks bothered to call me...I'm next door in Carrollton and they had my contact information and I was a frequent visitor. The ER is who called to notify me that they were treating my mother. She went to rehab directly from the hospital and it was weeks before anyone from River Oaks even inquired about my mother's health. She returned to River Oaks (I was very reluctant to let her go back there, but she'd already spent the $2500 community fee and had only spent about 2 weeks actually living there so it felt irresponsible to go spend even more money moving her) and she fell again shortly after her return. I do not blame them for her falls, although I do feel like they could have been more attentive to her than they were. She went back to rehab since this time she actually broke her hip. Also, she broke her hip on a Saturday and they didn't have her checked out until Sunday, which is when she was taken to the ER. At least they did communicate with me this time. She never returned to River Oaks after her hip repair. Turnover is or at least was high last summer among the nursing staff and the people who sit with the residents in the TV room. I don't recommend River Oaks for anyone's loved one who has the slightest bit of mobility issues. They're not going to get enough attention from the staff. I understand that they don't have enough staff for one-on-one attention but with multiple falls in the short amount of time my mom was there, I feel like they could have done a little better by her. Linda was the manager and ignored my multiple requests for a simple key to my mom's room. She was very difficult to get a hold of. I understand that she's no longer there, which is probably for the best. She was not a friendly or helpful person at all. My sister is financial POA, and it took months to get the bills straightened out. My mom didn't even live there any longer and she was still trying to get the bill issue fixed. Lots of good reviews on here....take mine with a grain of salt but I am a real person, not a bot.

I been trying to get this out there but nobody tries I sent it to ssi nothing. The elderly are being ripped off last year alone 300 billion, them small convenient stores like one stop in and out not them but their machines are capable they just need name number pin and date on paper and anybody money. We'll if they use bank of America only they have to have a card and they take pictures if the Pic does not get a good photo it will not dispense money and they can't go inside cause cause show proper ID. And some of these people are still collect on some people ssi where they he the people and how they living if they taking all there money. Please pass this on no one deserves to done that way in the part of their life supposed to be golden.

I toured River Oaks in early February 2025 because I need a place to go for myself. River Oaks is a beautiful facility. The rooms were lovely and the employees I met were very nice. They treated the residents respectfully. The dining room looked like a fine dining restaurant, and t activity rooms were furnished appropriately. I have decided on a place that is closer to my sister's home. Debra was so helpful and truly gave me facts about assisted living, avenues for funding and advice about veteran's services.

If I could get five stars just to Michele, and a few of the other employees there, I would. They are what the residents count on and what the whole idea of resident services, Love, and care really means. Management is everything the past reviews have stated. There shouldn’t be rules as to how long you can visit a loved one, or demanding you visit them outside in the heat because management doesn’t care for you as a person. This is where these residents live and they have the right, according to Health and human services for the state of Texas, to see who they want, when they want as this is their home. We moved out over a year ago and it was the best thing that we ever did, though I miss Michele and the love and concern she gave everyone she worked with. I only wish I owned a senior living home and I would hire her in an instant. Update: funny that "management" answered the same canned response here - that this isn't up to their normal level of care. I had several conversations with their corporate office and still nothing changed. In fact, I think you PROMOTED this director, so that should tell everyone the kind of place you run. Same management that caused such anguish to my family and I is still in this location. Unfortunately Corporate, until you get a director that truly cares about the residents and their families - as well as your employees (many have quit because of this Dir) - I fear for the well being and safety of the residents there.

We are early in our journey with River Oaks. But, so far so good! I feel like this is a really great little facility. I think they do the basics really well. The staff is extremely nice. They have a good caring team. I have been impressed with how they interact with the residents. It seems like a good culture. They have a lot of activities during the day. This afternoon they even had a really nice sitdown Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve been very pleased to see that my Mom actually gets out and doesn’t stay in her room. She is interacting with people. It feels like a good team and they seem like they enjoyed being there, I also think the food is good. If it were not, I would definitely be hearing about it! Overall, I highly recommend River Oaks.

I wanted to take the time to say that River Oaks was a great place to visit. As I started out my search for my mom I started my visits with River Oaks. First let me say that Linda was amazing and very caring and has a passion for her job and it shows. Miss Sharon the chef is as sweet as they come. I loved the layout and the rooms are played out in much different ways than the standard box looking rooms that you see everywhere else. The courtyard space is beautiful and some rooms have direct access to the courtyard. They have long tenured staff which is great for these facilities. If you’re looking for a place for your older folks I would for sure take a tour with Linda. Although my mom did not pick River Oaks she really loved the space and the staff. My mom just had a feeling about the place she picked and it came with a very small % of things she wanted.

The facility was clean, bright, and well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors. The caregivers were attentive and genuinely seemed to care for each resident, making sure everyone was comfortable and engaged. I was especially touched by the range of activities provided”they were creative, stimulating, and catered to different interests, keeping the residents happy and active. The residents I met were friendly, and it was wonderful to see them enjoying their time, whether chatting with others or participating in group events. It’s clear that your facility puts a lot of effort into making this place a true community for the elderly. I left with a positive impression and a warm feeling, knowing that the residents are well taken care of. I visited River Oaks for memory care for my father. The facility was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The staff seems to truly be invested in the wellbeing of the patients. Genuine care goes along way!! Unfortunately due to the cost we will have to look somewhere else. While touring potential assisted living facilities for a relative, I visited this one and noticed a few things that made me feel at ease. The RD demonstrated patience and exceptional kindness toward one of the residents, which reassured me that any family would feel comfortable with such care. Although our family was unable to move our mother to River Oaks at this time, we did take a couple of tours of the facility and talked to Michelle, Summer, Linda, dining room and activity staff, and others. Among our many observations it was easy to see that the many residents were active and happy, the facility was clean and organized, and the rooms were very nice and inviting. It did not have an institutional feeling at all. It felt like mom could make a comfortable home there. River Oaks is our choice when the time is right to move our mother.

I cannot recommend this facility enough. I have tried at least four other facilities for my mother : we have been so frustrated trying to find the correct fit. River oaks entire staff is warm, kind, loving, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about helping all types of issues that come with aging and how difficult the aging process can be. special thanks to Suja, Michele, and Sophia and Francine .. the whole staff! we have switched to their doctors and that has been in tremendous relief and help as well. thank you to everyone at river oaks you are a blessing!

During the tour, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the residents appeared happy and well-cared for. Not a good place to leave your loved ones. No longer run the way it was years ago. Food is no longer fresh and is filled with preservatives. Resident’s cannot use the tools they need to comfortably eat and drink, understaffed, and memory care is depressing. The “amenities” listed here, most are non-existent. Hard pass on this place

I'm an 87-year-old woman with dementia, and I do not like living at River Oaks. They drag me out of bed at 6am from a sound sleep, even though I desperately need to rest. My motor skills and continence started declining after only ten days at this facility, and after 30 days I was found unresponsive, unable to speak or sit up. The staff did nothing about this, but my daughter was able to hydrate me and keep me out of the hospital that time. We met with Regional-Level directors about the poor care I was getting, but a month later, I was again dehydrated, potassium-depleted, sleep-deprived and unresponsive. I spent my longest stay in the hospital yet, and then have to go to rehab for a couple of weeks because my health has been so compromised. All of this could have been avoided if I were under a beneficial wellness plan of rest and a balanced diet. Do not trust River Oaks with your well-being. They do not care.

River Oaks is understaffed and does not provide quality assistance. They do not adhere to a beneficial care plan for those who need help with daily tasks. Staff has neglected to provide assistance with bathing, housekeeping, and nutrition when needed. Twice a prescribed medicine has run out without anyone's notifying the responsible party. The Internet does not consistently work due to either the wiring in the building or the configuration of the technology. There is an additional charge for anything extra one might need or want, even a fee for having a meal brought to one's room. The fees add up even when services are not being provided, and there is little to no communication from management except on a reactive basis, not proactive.

I went to visit my grandma today with my mother and grandson, i was pleased, looked like a nice place and staff seemed friendly. Until my grandma wanted lunch in the cafeteria...mind you, this is the first time we have ever been here. A larger african american lady took our order for drinks ( couldn't see her name badge, unfortunately)I asked for a Sprite and she rudely informed us they only had juice, tea, or water. Understandable because diabetics. Then we saw the menu which today's choice was pork or beef. There was cheeseburgers, salad, sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc on the other side. So, we asked about it and she said again, super rude, you could get these but only after everyone got their daily specials, which was fine but you could tell she wasn't to pleased about it. She said, " you do realize you will be last right?" I said yes, but you know what forget it since it is so much trouble for you. We will get the pork and beef °. So my mom asked what kind of pork and beef is it? This women actually yelled at her, " It is pork and beef! "My mom said what kind though? She yelled again, pork and beef. So, i said you know what, we aren't eating here, I'm not having my family treated this way. Long story short, i went and got takeout from La Madeline's whuch was way better and way better customer service! I have worked in customer service for years and that was just unacceptable. If that is how they treat people with families there I can only imagine when the elderly are alone.other than that, the staff was friendly and courtrous. But that one women almost ruined ny enture experience.
