I used to live at this community, but had moved away for a short time, but I'm so glad to be back. I really appreciate how the community allows me to enjoy my own space and stay to myself when I want, but I also love having the chance to interact with other residents. I've joined a few events around the community and have found myself having a lot of fun. All this combined makes living here truly enjoyable.

I saw a flyer on Albuquerque grands Facebook page and also at the senior center I attended the Cinco de Mayo event. I attended the event to see what the place looks like and I was given a tour and told about the lifetime rates, activities and amenities that are all included in the rent. I could not believe how warm everyone was and how inviting and cozy it felt. I think I may have found the place I am meant to be. I’m sure there are many seniors on a budget like me and could live comfortably knowing the rent will never increase every year. By the way, the event was so much fun, lots of food live music and dancing. I’m coming back for the Memorial Day barbecue event on May 25. I’d like to thank the staff and the residents for making me feel right at home.

I recently visited the Albuquerque Grand for a tour and enjoyed clean apartments and a renovated club house. I first met a staff member named Mark coming up the elevator and quickly realized that the entire staff is kind and welcoming. Great prices for me equals a move in for me! Thanks

While searching for a new independent community for my mother-in-law, I called and talked to Andrew, who was most helpful. We subsequently visited twice and have decided to move Mom in next month. Our decision was based on the genuine friendliness and enthusiasm of both the staff and the residents during our visits, the safe, clean and lovely common spaces and apartments that have an abundance of natural light, the abundance of activities offered, and the very reasonable pricing. WE also love the fact that the Grand is a family-owned community, as opposed to most of the others that are corporate owned and corporate run. In particular, we appreciated Andrew (Senior Solutions), Victoria (Director), Dakota (Chef), and Vincent (Activities Director), who each took more than a few minutes to visit with us. One of our concerns was the number and condition of elevators, as the community Mom has been in has only one elevator, which has broken down several times during the last five years, most recently for almost a whole week. I had asked Andrew on the phone how many elevators the Grand has, and he had told me two. He took my concern so seriously, that by the time we came to tour the Grand the first time, he had looked into the maintenance records and was able to tell us that the last time one of the elevators broke down was over two decades ago. Our whole family is looking forward to moving Mom in to this welcoming community.

I survived my short time as a resident there. Stay away. The residents are very cliquish. The constant turnover of staff is alarming. Plumbing leaks and loss of cooling / heating is constant. People constantly get trapped in elevators that fail. Food serving size is so small you'll need to go to the grocery store frequently. It's just a horrible place. Only go there if you're ready to die.

We absolutely love the Albuquerque Grand! Pathways Academy students visit the residents monthly and The Grand has given us this opportunity to allow the students and residents to connect and have fun! The Albuquerque Grand truly embraces intergenerational relationships by welcoming students to spend time with the residents playing bingo, working on crafts, and enjoying simple games together. These shared activities create meaningful friendships, laughter, and genuine connections. Our students gain valuable people skills, and the residents light up as they interact with these precious young people. It is a beautiful environment, clean, updated and full of light! The staff is engaged with the residents as well as our students in a gentle, caring way. It appears the residents feel connected, respected and happy. We are so grateful for this special partnership and highly recommend the Albuquerque Grand to others!

My mom was a resident of Albuquerque Grand the last 4 years until she passed away in July, 2025. She got there during the middle to later stages of COVID and I was happy to hear that the residents fared well during this time. My only major complaint was in 2022 - 2023. The air conditioning in the summer worked mediocre at best. Some areas had no AC. It affected the whole facility, rooms and common areas. One of my mom's friends there actually moved to another facility to find better AC. When Victoria became manager (2 yrs ago?) the HVAC system were substantially improved. I wouldn"t say the AC is perfect now, but certainly tolerable. I have gotten to know the staff a lot in the last year and I can honestly say that the current crew is outstanding. From management to the cleaning people, kitchen staff, maintenance crew and front desk. They all have the empathy and compassion that I look for in this type of facility. I believe the overall operations have improved substantially since Victoria took over. She has been extremely helpful and insightful in helping me navigate the last several months of my mom living there. I would strongly recommend the Albuquerque Grand now and going forward. 3 or 4 years ago, maybe not. I miss the Grand as I got to know some of the residents as well as staff. Maybe I will volunteer there one day.

My mother lived here at the Grand for the last 4+ years until she passed earlier this month. The current management and staff are all such nice, caring people. My mom said the food was very good and the newest activity director has been great. She liked all the staff here as have I. She liked living here and had no complaints except for the one summer the A/C was out for a very long time. This summer the A/C has been working much better. Everyone here has been great to me and my brother during the time of our mother's passing. Thank you Victoria, staff, and the residents.

The Albuquerque Grand Senior Living community is truly a grand place to live. Three delicious meals every day, a charming and helpful staff, someone on duty at the front desk 24/7, a wonderful maintenance staff. Interesting activities planned every day if you choose to participate, regular transportation available for medical appointments and shopping, a secure inside parking garage. The other residents are friendly, but we all value our privacy. The building itself is beautiful and cozy. We just love this place!

The first time I walked into Albuquerque Grand Senior Living, I was pleasantly surprised by the decorations and the staff friendly smiles! The place was decorated for the fall and I appreciated that. Makes the place more homie. They had the menu displayed and the events posted on their bulletin board. There was at least four activities every single day of the month. Always something to do!! There were a few ladies playing board games and a couple of people putting © puzzles together. There were a community of friends enjoying each other’s company! Just in the few moments that I was there I could see that this was a pleasant place to be. I definitely recommend you check it out if you or your family member needs an affordable & clean place to live.

My father moved into The Albuquerque Grand in late May 2024. After a couple of small issues that were quickly resolved the first month living at the Grand, the last couple of months have been great for him. He constantly mentions how happy he is. The staff have been very helpful and attentive during his time living there. Victoria, the director, has been a joy to work with to make sure my father is happy. I have had knowledge of the Albuquerque Grand for years and know the staff both takes pride in the community and cares deeply for its residents as they would for family. Very neglected building needs a lot of repairs and bug extermination as the stairs always have roaches. New staff and directors and sales team each time I go. Hardly anyone at the front desk. The residents have often been complaining about various things in the lobby. I’ve only been on a few deliveries but grandma will not have this as an option to call home in the near future look elsewhere.

Reading the negative reviews about The Grand and/or our Director makes me think some people have nothing better to do than try to make others as miserable as they must be. I have lived at The Grand for several years and am very comfortable and happy. I have seen a lot of people come and go, both residents and staff, and have been aware of most situations, and the reviews disparaging Victoria are beyond ridiculous and just purely hateful. She is by far the best Director we have ever had since I've been here, and yes she is tough, but that Is what is needed and probably the reason the people posting negative reviews have gotten crossways with her. The Director position is an incredibly difficult one, particularly when dealing with seniors who are not always in comfortable situations mentally, physically, or monetarily. The people posting negative reviews obviously can't see this and they really should, because they are going to possibly be in the same situations some day. Hopefully they will encounter someone as compassionate and caring about their welfare as Victoria is and have a place to live as great as The Grand.

I went to visit the Albuquerque grand because I was thinking about moving in to a nice place that had social activity and what I saw was the cutest place and the friendliest staff . one of the residents welcomed me right when I walked in and told me how much I would love living there. My Mom was looking to move in to Albuquerque Grand in February of this year. She hadn’t signed anything but gave them a check for $1,500 to hold it. She immediately got sick and passed away February 6th, 3 weeks later. While my Mom was battling cancer in the hospital, they cashed the check and will not refund the money. They have told my sister that they will send a check but have not. This place is stealing money from the elderly and I think it is important for people to know what kind of establishment this is. Read the google reviews, this is not an isolated incident.

ELEVATOR EAST BUILDING 2022-12-08 The elevator malfunctioned. People were trapped in their rooms and trapped from getting to their rooms prior to lunch. The way this place is run, I doubt regular preventive maintenance is performed on the elevators. 2022-12-10 The elevator malfunctioned again trapping many people in their rooms and in the commons area. The elevator inspection certificate is dated 2021-02-04. See BBB entry below. ELEVATOR WEST BUILDING 2022-12-13 There is no inspection certificate. See BBB entry below. PLUMBING September 2022 the smell of sewer gas appeared in the commons area: dining room, game room, TV room and front desk. The smell is also in the kitchen where resident's food is prepared. A manager admitted to me that they know there is a problem with the plumbing in the men's and women's restrooms plumbing. She neglected to say anything about the smell in the kitchen. A maintence man admitted to me that there was a problem with the plumbing. It's very nauseating and eating in the dining room cab be horrible. It's a smell that lingers in your nose for hours. 2022-11-26 Two apartments have had plumbing backups in the last two weeks. There are plumbing leaks in the Parking Garage ceiling emanating from first floor apartments and the kitchen. 2022-12-10 Another leak appeared in the parking garage ceiling by the exit door. It's below the kitchen. What's in the liquid coming from the garage ceiling? October - November 2022 there was a very strong odor of sewer gas in the parking garage despite strong wind blowing through. What is being tracked from the garage into the rest of the building? The sewer gas in the dining room is most noticable at breakfast - 7am. It dissipates though out the day, but reoccurs every morning. Is the kitchen and therefore meals contaminated with fecal matter from the sewer gas? GATE, STAIRWELL 2022-08-13 A stairway gate in the patio, outside and north of the dining room and mail boxes, leading to the parking garage was locked closed by management. In case of an emergency, like a fire, anyone in this area might try to use this stairway as an egress down to the parking garage then out to the street. But since the gate won't open, entering the building would be required. GATE, PARKING GARAGE to PATIO This gate started being locked 2022-12-28 for unknown reasons. This was an emergency exit. GATE, PATIO to STREET The gate was welded closed for unknown reason. This was an emergency exit. Concerning the disabled gates: there has been no notification (grape vine only) given to residents or updated fire drill(s) incase someone would try to use these gates as emergency exits. HALLWAYS (in front of apartment doors), CLEANLINESS The vacuum cleaner used in rooms and common areas is bagless and it just throws fine dust and viruses back into the air. A vacuum using HEPA filter bags should be used. HEPA filters would impede the spread of viruses and allergens. The hallway carpet should be shampooed periodically since seniors frequently experience incontinence, but the carpet is never cleaned. ENTERING BUILDING AFTER HOURS It can be difficult to re-enter the building in the evenings and at night since the front desk isn't staffed. INTERNET ACCESS Internet access is unreliable. Many residents don't have and have never had internet access in their rooms. LAUNDRY There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers in the entire building for 150 potential residents. There are presently about 50 residents. The east building washers and dryers have been reported and ignored many times for improper operation. 2022-10-05 Management had an open house. They installed missing ceiling tiles and removed broken dining room chairs that had been pushed in a corner and left for months. The building is in a state of disrepair. Management clearly has had little interest in maintaining the property. STAFF There is a constant and frequent turnover of receptionists, food servers, cooks, and maintenance workers. Upper management treats staff and residents with disdain. Of course you won't learn this until you've lived here for a while. 2022-12-26 The kitchen manager, who was here less than three months, was unjustly fired for wanting to provide higher quality food. 2022-12-17 A night shift maintenance worker was fired for stealing from resident's rooms and sleeping with his girlfriend in unoccupied rooms. BBB The BBB (Better Business Bureau) states that The Albuquerque Grand Senior Living as of 2022-02-28 has not obtained a necessary license from the New Mexico Department of Health. MEDICAL EMERGENCY In the event of a medical emergency, the staff has orders to only call 911. This means no CPR, choking or other assistance will be provided. Several personally identifiable experiences have been omitted out of fear of retribution.

The majority of communities I have visited have a very similar atmosphere. They feel and look like hotels, which is not inherently negative, but you are left feeling like a guest. The Grand sets itself apart and feels like a home. A safe place a senior can call their own as they continue to live out the rest of their years. The stage staff was social and friendly. The community itself was clean and well managed. The biggest surprise was the surpassing starting rate and the fact that they gave life time rates. Other communities have drastically raised their rates while The Grand has made a commitment to secure their for the entirety of their residents stays. I believe any senior could find a wonderful home here and I’m thankful to have them apart of the Albuquerque community.

AG attempted to take nearly all of my $1000 security deposit. I tried to resolve amicably but they did not respond to phone messages, emails and in-person messages left. Sued them to recover my deposit+damages w court ruling in my favor. A shabby place w unethical ownership.

The BBB (Better Business Bureau) states that The Albuquerque Grand Senior Living as of 2022-02-28 has not obtained a necessary license from the New Mexico Department of Health. Air conditioning has been non existent since mid June 2022. Many apartments share a common bathroom. This is not a good environment for senior living during the age of COVID given the typical moisture content that viruses thrive in. The building should be remodeled to eliminate shared bathrooms. There was a fire on the evening of 2022-07-19 and no one was at the supposed permanently staffed front desk. The firemen had no one to ask who was in which rooms: total chaos. No automatic fire detection systems were activated. Fortunately a visitor saw the fire and activated the alarms. It can be difficult to re-enter the building in the evenings and at night since the front desk isn't staffed. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers in the entire building for 150 residents. My apartment phone and many other apartment phones are unreliable, therefore, unreliable for emergencies. Stairwell and parking garage lighting is poor. For months, the same dead cockroaches are still lying dead on stairwell steps. The resident hallways are never vacuumed. The vacuum used in rooms and common area is bagless that just throws fine dust and viruses back into the air. Vacuums using HEPA filter bags should be used. These are the kind used on airplanes and in updated school ventilation systems. HEPA filters are like N95 masks. Occupancy is less than one-third capacity. There were many others, but they have left. Management is top heavy diverting money to salaries that should be going toward building maintenance. Two management positions should be eliminated to hire two more maintenance people complete work orders and improve the property. I would not recommend living here. However, it has great potential for the right owners and managers with its proximity to a hospital, the University of New Mexico, and local businesses.

August 2022

rosalund pike

FYI: I am contacting agencies and making posts about the seriously bad condition of this building and the extremely poor response of management to correct problems. It's obvious that management and owners are just sucking money from the property most likely resulting in its eventual closing. It's only one third full. Also The Grand has failed to obtain the certification by the NM Dept of Health. Not good.

This place has a fun and caring staff who are always willing to help you when asked. The wellness director Susana Molina takes full control of her staff always there to help where ever needed. If ever there was a place where you can feel at home it is here. You get the safe environment feeling because you are always being taken care of. If in doubt you may come and check the facility and get your own opinion of the Albuquerque Grand.

  • Schedule a tour and visit the physical location to make sure community description is accurate.
  • Confirm with community manager that living and services required for you or your loved one's unique needs and budget are met.
  • Check with state government websites for additional provider licensing and information.

If there is any information that is inaccurate or needs to be updated, please contact Assisted Living Center.

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
