My dad of 94 years old moved into Brown Deer Place last week and he is doing great. He says the residents are much friendlier than his previous community home, which I believe is a direct reflection of the great staff at Brown Deer Place. Happy residents are definitely a true indicator of a caring environment. Valerie and Eddie were ever so helpful in explaining everything to us and helping us to coordinate my dad’s final move. His room is comfortable and bright and the food is outstanding. The building is older than some of the newer homes, but it is well kept up which is yet another positive indicator that we chose the right home for dad. Most importantly though is that it is affordable! Given dad’s fixed income this was a God send. My thanks to Brown Deer Place and their wonderful staff!

FAST FORWARD TO ALMOST A YEAR LATER FEBRUARY 2026 (I guess it is a special "feature" of google / reviews that no matter what your experience at a business is, you can only write / edit one review. hmmmm I wonder if somewhere there's a place to review google reviews! probably NOT!) Based on positive experiences with Brown Deer over the last year or so, my father-in-law just moved in and for a senior, or anyone for that matter, moving can be VERY stressful. Brown Deer did about everything to de-stress the ENTIRE process. Kudos not only to the Brown Deer Staff but its residents as well. My father-in-law lived in a similar facility and I couldn't tell you a single person's name. Just in the moving in, multiple residents, neighbors and staff introduced themselves. The feeling is certainly more homey and welcoming rather than institutional. The family unanimously things the move was a GREAT move! SPRING of 2025 It was my second time visiting. The first was at the Easter Egg Hunt which was amazing. This time it was to deliver flowers. Before I even entered I was greeted by a very tastefully decorated for Fall. So much so, I took the attached photo! Certainly more than a couple of pumpkins and Hobby Lobby scarecrows sitting on a corner! Also this time I had an opportunity to talk with many of the staff including the General Manager and Sales Manager. It was utterly delightful! If I didn’t have places I needed to be I would have stayed a lot longer.

I recently moved my 95 year old dad into Brown Deer Place after researching several options. Eddie and Valerie are great! They were very knowledgeable and caring as they guided me through the process and the follow up after the move in. Their assistance doesn’t stop after the move in, they are there to help along this journey, which I greatly appreciate since I live 1500 miles away. I know that my dad is in good hands and that gives me peace of mind. All the staff is amazing! I can’t say enough good about everyone associated with this organization and the visiting nurse staff.

My brother-in-law recently moved into Brown Deer Place in an Independent Living apartment with assisted Living services. From the beginning of our review of available alternatives the staff at Brown Deer stood out as the most helpful and understanding of his needs. They had answers to all of our questions or found someone quickly who would. The coordination of his move, the initiation of a complex medication regimen and the initiation of services which would benefit him were seamless. Since he has been at Brown Deer the staff have been very supportive and the residents have reached out to help hm in any way they could. He is comfortable with his new home and we are pleased that he is getting everything he needs. I would recommend Brown Deer Place to anyone looking for a beautiful and supportive residential setting.

We moved our mom into Brown Deer Place a little over two years ago and she’s had a great experience living here. She has made lots of friends, has been told her laugh is awesome & she loves the music and entertainment that Liz schedules on a regular basis. The community is very involved and community members are always stopping by to visit with the residents. All of the staff is so friendly and feels like family. The amenities are wonderful also. Kudos to Chef Jay, the food has improved immensely! We LOVE Brown Deer Place!!

I am a long time member of Brown Deer Place. Before coming here I had my own home. I made a decision that I wanted to go to a place where the food was provided and I could socialize with people. So I sold my home and moved to Brown Deer Place. I am very happy with my decision. The food is good and I enjoy being able to communicate with the residents.

I visited this community a week or so ago for the first time. Nick Dolphin was kind enough to show me around the community. The community gave off a comfortable at home vibe. Everyone was very friendly and the residents were very personable with Nick as we toured. One of them gave Nick a hug and said I could have a hug also because we were such nice guys. This made my visit there even more admirable.

My 90 year old Mother had been living at Brown Deer Place for 10+ years and liked her apartment and the staff but not the food; which seemed to her was always getting cheaper and cheaper. About a year ago Mother had to be moved into the Memory Care unit, into a tiny 150 sq foot apartment. Then COVID19 hit and the staff did a tremendous job protecting all the residents. Corporate had the opportunity to move another person into this unit but did NOT have a spare room. The CORPORATE decision was to move this person into my Mother's tiny single occupancy room, since she was on an Iowa Elder waiver, not paying full price. This person was being moved in without a Virus Test, and NO quarantine since they didn't have a spare room. This person was not coming from another elder housing she was coming out of the community. Such gross hypocrisy! Corporate - not staff at Brown Deer - proved where their true heart is. In the bank. Don't trust them with your loved ones.

I have wanted to write a review since mom moved here 2 years ago. I never expected staff to be so responsive to every concern and question I had about her adjustment to this sea change in her life. She loves it here, the staff, her friends, the food and the many activities that keep her busy and happy. Thank you Tanner, Annie, Matt and the kind kitchen and housekeeping staff for going above and beyond. Mom and I lucked out to find Brown Deer, her home now in every way.

Kind caring staff. My father suddenly lost his eye sight 6 years ago needed a good safe place to live. Having to move far away from friends to be closer to family was difficult, but this place has made him feel secure. My father's efficiency apartment is spacious with kitchen, living, and sleeping areas. There are larger apartments available but this was perfect for him. Small pets are allowed. My father lives in independent living but gets assisted living services. If you want all the luxuries imaginable (e.g. pool, bowling alley, ...) this is not the place for you but if you want a good safe place with many nice touches then try here.
