Our loved one was a resident at Parmer Woods North Austin Memory Care from August 2021 through December 2022. Here is a summary of our experience: Caring (though overworked and understaffed) direct care staff (especially Dina, Candeh, Tannette, Kevin, Leslie and a few others). Major safety concerns in the "periodic checks" for bedbound resident. On multiple occasions, we discovered no one had checked on resident for over 7 hours at night. Turnover with a total of: 3 different Executive Directors and 3 different Memory Care/Wellness Directors. 3 occasions of medicine mismanagement: -medication left out in resident room, -medication given to wrong resident, -significant incorrect dose given to resident. Courtyard lights broken for months even with multiple attempts to address safety with Admin. Care Plan meetings were rarely initiated by Parmer Woods Nursing/Memory Care Admin. Admin. was however receptive to meeting when Care Plans were initiated by family.

My Mom looks forward to all the meals! She loves the food at Parmer Woods. She had breakfast and then I helped her shower and then she was looking forward to the activities. I was impressed with how clean and well maintained the whole facility looks all the time. The staff all know my Mom's name and they recognize me too. Mom's bed and room are always clean and Mom seems happy most of the time when I visit her. Mom always seems well nourished and well hydrated. Im so happy Mom is receiving good care. Ive been a nurse many years and I know my Mom can be challenging. Great job everyone at Parmer Woods! Thank you for being so caring to Mom and towards me too!

A heartfelt thank you to Parmer Woods at North Austin. My father lived here from Feb 2021 through March 2024, most of that time in the memory care unit. Throughout that time, the Parmer Woods caregivers were so kind to him, and to our family. From the bottom of my heart: thank you.

I think it's the most challenging work to care for others who cannot care for themselves. It's selfless and extremely needed. I want to thank Mika, a cna, who serves the community here with a smile on her face. Literally changing lives and providing excellent care to the residents.

I am a former employee I left on own terms with HR and found a opportunity I always wanted. I see the 2 sisters reviews before mine and it bothers me, they are very inaccurate, if your unhappy and dad's there a year and he is a nice sweet person you get evicted it indicates a lot about the people leaving the review. Is there things that could change YES but that's every facility Every facility faces staff turnover even directors. As a team parmer woods wins that hands down. You are not a number, the entire team looks at all the best options for every resident new or not. Marketing and nurses really do proper assessments above and beyond for a great fit of services. I speak from experience and witnessing the methods and practices they perform. I have never seen or herd a unhappy resident I would feel very comfortable having my family there if needed to.

*Note- The last review Posted here was August 2021. (Amy, correct. "Very concerned about the health and welfare of the residents!" Now, it is 20 months later. Our family was involved with Parmer Woods Assisted Living AND then Memory Care for a year. We (3 siblings) visited almost every day which makes what we are telling you valid. We saw it, heard it and felt it. What we are saying can be substantiated by current staff, past staff, pictures and texts. Parmer Woods is a very unhealthy environment! No leadership(no Ex Dir for 8/12 mo and counting) No Activities Director in MC (for 7/12 months and counting) Therefore, when we communicated concerns ( we did in multiple meetings with Parmer Woods Staff AND corporate level) usually nothing happened. They were just irritated with us. Concerns you ask? Why doesn't he have his oxygen? Why would you speak to him like that? Why are there people urinating on the floor in his room? Why is the "go to activity" watching TV? Why Inconsistent when following his Medication Administration Record and Care Plan? (didn't assist in brushing teeth for sometimes a week) Why are his hearing aids in wrong ears? Still blood on floor? Sad!

My father just left Parmer Woods Memory care on Parmer lane austin tx. In not even 24 hours I could tell the difference in care and concern for my father. I received texts about how he was doing and the questions I asked were listened to and I was told how the solutions would be implemented. Unfortunately not always the case at Parmer Woods. Please look around elsewhere if you are considering Parmer Woods. Poets Walk in Pflugerville tx , the cottages on Chandler Creek in Round Rock and soon to be open in Pflugerville tx is Sage Valley memory care. I would have seriously considered Sage Valley if the time frame allowed. They will open June 1st. Make surprise visits to all facilities, look at the faces of the Memory Care residents. Are they watching tv every time you visit or is the staff engaged? If the residents are looking at exercises on tv is there a caregiver encouraging the residents to engage or is it being used as a babysitter? If you can, talk to a residents family member. God Bless you in your journey. I just know the disappointment we had in Parmer Woods Memory Care.

The staff is friendly and professional. It was a rocky start for my mom and myself once a decision was made she needed additional care than I could provide in-home. The staff was able to alleviate my stress with helpful answers and the care I saw them give. Mom is now settling in and is smiling. My family can relax knowing she is receiving great care at Parmer Wood.

I have been a part of the Brookdale staff for over 5 years. And I must say that we have the strongest staff now than in the past. Our residents are very pleasant and it's a privilege to work in their home.

All staff really cares. I have never encountered a staff person that wasn't helpful. They really understand the aged. This Brookdale is far superior to the two others I have experienced. The memory care unit is exceptional. I highly recommend this facility. I will gladly answer questions of others trying to make a decision about this place.

After spending over 10 years in the senior living industry, I can tell you what impresses me most about Brookdale Parmer Lane is the staff. At least 30% of our staff members have been here 10 plus years, with many having been here since we opened 19 years ago. It's not brick and mortar that makes our community different. It's the care and respect provided to each of our residents on a daily basis, enabling them to continue to live their lives pursuing those things that bring them joy!

April 2018

Google

My father-in-law who just turned 101 has been living at this facility for over 11 years. Brookdale is the third company to own this facility. During the 11 years the quality of care and personal attention has been wonderful. Brookdale has maintained that same high standard that we have become accustom to. We would recommend it for individuals or couples looking to make the change to an Assisted Living.

I have worked at Brookdale Parmer Lane as the Resident Programs Coordinator for 15 years. I love what I do and I love more for who I do it with. Our residents and staff are by far some of the best I have worked with. Our residents and staff enjoy interacting with each other during programs. Most of our staff has been here 7 years or longer and continue to give the same constant care every day to our residents. I love being a part of the Brookdale Parmer Lane family.

Staff takes the time to really meet and learn all the "quirkiness" or challenges presented by their residents. Brookdale staff has lots of patience and has been able to take care/meet my mother's needs. Let's be honest, if you are reading this review, you are overwhelmed with someone's required care and you are trying to find a place that can do a better job than you do. Well, Brookdale Parmer Lane is the place for you. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about Brookdale.
