When Dad passed in the fall of 2022 and Mom couldn't manage living alone, our family needed to make other arrangements. The only place Mom would consider was Avalon Square and we were fortunate to move her to an assisted living apartment there. Mom was very happy at Avalon. She joined old friends, made new ones and the staff took great care of Mom. As time progressed she needed additional care and Avalon was able to accommodate her as health issues mounted. I can't say enough about the experience Mom had at Avalon. The facility is excellent but the people who work there and take care of residents are what make Avalon an exceptional place. Mom passed away last week at the ripe old age of 95 and the support we received was amazing. I would give Avalon a couple of additional stars if Google would consider allowing me to do so. John

Avalon Square is wonderful! My mom has been living in the Arbor, the memory care unit for 6 months and I never worry as each and every employee has been so kind and caring to my mom. They go above and beyond to make the residents feel loved and well cared for. I fully recommend this facility.

Our mother was at Avalon Square from 2007 until 2023. She was in independent living for 11 years, then 5 years in assisted living and finally about a month in The Arbor for advance care, the last two weeks in conjunction with hospice.

My parents have lived in all 3 care levels provided at Avalon. Both Mom and Dad started in Independent Living. At that time, my mom was a full time care giver for my dad. They attended in house activities. Workers were extremely pleasant, my parents were known on a first name basis. Family visited often, some even spent the night in their spacious office/extra bedroom. Overnight parking was offered at a small fee. Family knew Mom and Dad were in a safe engaging environment. When my mom needed help caring for my dad, he was transitioned to Specialty Care. With Dad's issues with dementia, he was angry and often refused services. With onsite medical care and the staff's consistent efforts to cajole my dad into accepting services, he became a willing participant. He and my mom attended numerous activities together. Visits went well, great grandchildren are still talking about one of their visits that coincided with baby goats. Mom stayed in Independent living until just before her 90th birthday. I had begun to receive phone calls and emails alerting me to growing concerns about falls and changes in her behavior. We had a staff health care meeting with Mom present and deciding it was time for her to receive help, which precipitated her move to Assisted Living. Mom loves not preparing meals, and socializing with new friends in the dinning room. As staff have noted more change we have reconvened family health care meetings and have easily added services including help bathing, dressing and being escorted to meals. With these added assists, she has energy to continue participating in many activities like Brainy Bunch, Public Library book checkout, and musical performances. I look forward to being able to join her for some upcoming art activities. Mom wears a call button that she can push if she needs help. She has fallen several more times, and staff are soon there to assist her. Her living arrangements and care have giving my family peace of mind knowing that she is safe, active and well fed! We are fortunate to have found Avalon Square as a residence for aging parents. Service providers are friendly and they KNOW my mom and care about her. It is great having a team of people to help provide care and share in the enormous responsibility of keeping mom happy and safe. We highly recommend this facility. Richard and Susan L.

My mom lived in an independent living apartment at Avalon for 4 years. She loved every minute of living there. She enjoyed participating in the many activities on a daily basis. There was a wide variety of choices! She made many great friends there. The staff were so caring, kind, and helpful. They were always willing to answer any questions we had. They also knew the residents well! My mom always felt safe while living there. The whole place was recently remodeled and it is beautiful! She enjoyed having the option of eating dinner in the dining. The food was always good! The only complaint was that I wish my mom would have moved there sooner!

I am pleased to share my family's exceptional experience with Avalon Square. My mother has been a resident here for over 10 years, initially in independent living and recently transitioning to assisted living. Throughout her time, the entire staff has consistently shown incredible kindness and care towards her. Their dedication is truly heartwarming. The facility itself is immaculately maintained (most of the common area and many units were completely renovated over the past 2 years), offering a range of amenities that enhance the quality of life for its residents. The on-site restaurant provides nutritious meals, while the fitness center encourages active lifestyles. There are activities almost daily, ensuring there's always something engaging to look forward to. One of the highlights is their organized weekly outings to local grocery stores and restaurants, which has helped my Mom get out into the community. Periodic entertainment events and guest speakers add variety and excitement to their lives. Additionally, they offer church services every Sunday. We've also been impressed with how safe and secure Avalon Square feels. They require key fobs to enter and have secure underground parking for residents. Overall, my family highly recommends Avalon Square where seniors can thrive in comfort and happiness.

My mother was an assisted living resident for 4 years and last year transitioned into memory care at Avalon. The staff is so kind and caring and made this transition so comfortable and it was done smoothly. The activities, the food and environment are all so perfect for those that need that level of care. I could write pages for how wonderful the staff is to her and so informative and helpful to me. Love it and would highly recommend the Avalon!

Avalon Square is one of my favorite places on this Earth. I have been visiting the Avalon for more than fifty years, first as a student who sang there with other members of the Waukesha High School Choir and then as an adult to visit my father and other family friends who live there, I enjoyed the experiences so much that I became a volunteer and started a theatre group for the Avalon residents. After each visit I feel energized and inspired. And I can't wait to return. Over the years I have strengthened existing friendships there, as well as becoming friends with many more residents and staff. The Avalon is a warm and inviting place. Every member of the staff is welcoming and truly dedicated to serving the residents. A wide variety of activities are offered, the food is outstanding, and I can always have a cup of coffee and enjoy good conversation with my friends in the cafe'. I love Avalon Square!

Avalon is an amazing place with amazing people who work there. The compassion that was shown to our Mom was above what we ever could have expected by both the staff and the residents. My Mom lived there for a short time, but both my sister and I completely agreed that it would be a place we would like to be when it is time for us to consider Assisted Living.

I have been teaching basket weaving classes to residents at Avalon Square and members of the Waukesha community for the past14 years. The classes are an enjoyable experience for both participants and me. I cannot say enough about the enthusiasm, helpfulness and compassion on the part of Avalon staff I've witnessed. It takes true teamwork to make things happen and here, the environment is both positive and uplifting. I see happiness in the residents(pretty much always, we all have our days now and then) and often in my classes I hear expressions of appreciation the residents share about how helpful and understanding staff members are. Avalon is a wonderful, caring community.

Our family is so grateful for Avalon Square. My Mom has lived independently at Avalon for nearly five years. Every experience from the front door (thank you Sue) to the executive director (always available) including many staff members have made Avalon a terrific experience for my Mom, and our family. During Covid they took great precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy with success. Because I live in a different state, I was not able to see my Mom for over a year. Avalon staff did a quick and vital pivot in order to connect families via Zoom. With the help of the great hard working lovely people at Avalon Square, we were able to see each other and visit online every week. I thought this was a very generous and compassionate life saver. I cannot stress how important this was for my Mom and for me. When I visit, I take long walks along the river and stroll the many shops of downtown Main Street. The location is terrific. The staff are wonderful.The building and apartment is sunny and lovely. I recommend Avalon Square without hesitation.

I cannot say enough good things about Avalon Square. I am so happy we choose Avalon as a place for my dad. Everyone on the staff from dining, housekeeping and maintenance to office staff and Directors have been extremely friendly and helpful. You cannot walk down the hallways without someone saying hello and knowing a story about your loved one. I am so grateful for the extra care that has been given during the pandemic and the communication that has been given to my family. I feel that Avalon truly cares about my dad and the people who live at the facility. They do a great job engaging residents during this difficult time. If you are looking for a place for your loved one to move, I would highly recommended checking it out!

The most wonderful facility. My grandmother was in memory care. The people really cared. They even visited her in the hospital and attended her funeral. My grandfather has an apartment there. The building is decorated beautifully. Everywhere you turn it feels like home. We have our family events there. The dining area, 50's cafe and area with a fireplace that's like a living room. The food is great, activities like WI bowling and outings to the store are only very few opportunities to socialize. I wish I could live there!

I don’t think you can find a better retirement home in the area. My mother passed away several years ago and after a year or two dad decided to sell his home. The Avalon always has a substantial waiting list. Luckily dad didn’t wait long. He was willing to take a one bedroom instead of a two bedroom. They have programs and events constantly. At 95-years old he enjoys the workout facility, the weekly sheepshead games, the cribbage, and the Thursday Social Hour. Great staff. Great facility. Hope someday I can get into Avalon Square.

I would like to thank the staff at Avalon Square, Arbor House Memory Care Unit, for the loving care they provided for my mother. She was a resident there for over a year. Everyone was attentive to her needs, especially Regina, her CNA, who was very kind and caring. She went above and beyond to keep her clean and comfortable. Due to Dementia, she was difficult to care for, but Regina did her best. Her apartment was always neat and clean. The last few days, she was on hospice care and the staff at Avalon, especially Pastor Erin, helped support us and Kay on her journey to heaven. Pastor Erin was able to give Kay the Sacrament of the Sick, shortly before she died and comfort us. We are so grateful Kay was able to spend the last year at Avalon.

The poor CNAs outweigh the good CNAs, especially in the memory care unit where the care is needed the most. CNAs can be found chatting in the dining room, or on their phones while there is work still to be done. I would not recommend this place at all. The poor CNAs do not have a great work ethic, and because of a lack of training and willingness to do their job correctly, the residents suffer. I would hope better employees with a better work ethic are employed so care is done RIGHT. I am only giving 2 stars because there are some compassionate individuals that really do their job correctly and put in the hard work. They also have a lot of activities and opportunities to socialize for residents as well..but there needs to be improvements in the memory care unit as far as staffing and cares.

I give 3 stars because over all it’s a good place. Pretty clean and well ran. My family been living here for some years and never had a bad experience into a few weeks ago I came and could not get buzzed in. Was calling for over 20 min with no answer. Finally as someone was exiting I went in. When I got to the second floor one of the workers was in the chair asleep. She was so asleep that she didn’t even notice that I was in the door and took a picture. I try to upload it here but don’t know how. Really not a good look.
