I spoke with a girl Name Morgan who was so kind, compassionate, and attentive that all of my worries were Alleviated by the time I got off the phone with her. This is an wonderful place to live. I have been here over 7 months now and I am very glad my kids put me here. The room is huge. I have a double bed not a twin. My dresser, TV, small refrigerator, computer desk, tall book case and end table by my recliner chair a black end table with drawer that my printer sit on. This place is a very homey place. Love it here. Only thing is I have 2 sons and 1 daughter John in Rhinelander, Wis James in Texas and my daughter Jennifer lives here in Appleton. She visit me but only one a week wish it was more.

Carolina Assisted Living seemed clean, but it was more like a nursing home. They had a service dog on the premises that was free to roam. However, the people that I am taking care of do not like dogs, so I didn't think they would like it there. The rooms were very sparse; they're 1-room units. There were no refrigerators, kitchens, or bathrooms in the rooms. Instead, they have bathrooms down the hall. The activities were very low key. There was a group of ladies who were playing Bingo and it sounded like they go on shopping trips. They did have scheduled entertainment.

Carolina Assisted Living is currently caring for my mother and previously cared for my father. The caregivers do a great job and we really appreciate their partnership with Bluestone Physicians. The activities director is extremely creative, caring, and overall does an awesome job organizing and providing engaging and interactive activities for the residents, including car rides to get ice cream, bringing residents to Timber Rattler games, and getting them out shopping at Walmart.. The resident dog, Faith, has been a really nice edition to the staff at Carolina - she is such a sweet dog.

Carolina Manor was very homey and warm. The people were good, and the residents were engaged. The dining area was clean, roomy, and had a nice setup. The activities were fantastic. They had a terrific activity director who oversees all the activities. They need to upgrade their rooms because they were small, but I was impressed with the people there.

My dad has been in Carolina Assisted Living for a little over two months now. I like the setting because it is tastefully done. So far, the staff has been good. I do not have any complaints. They do bingo every day, have ice cream socials, and do outdoor activities. They actually want my father to do a demonstration on archery. They seem to keep them occupied.

Four years ago my family and I made the decision to look for an assisted living facility for my Mother. As she was in the beginning stages of alzheimers disease, she was getting more and more forgetful and needed help remembering her medications and also with her personal care. My sister and I visited Carolina Manor and found it to be very home-like. My Mother did not really want to leave her home, but realized she needed help so she agreed to try the home. My sister worked at decorating her room with her favorite things and even painted a stencil border on the upper part of the wall. We visited her daily, often at mealtime so we could evaluate how well she was eating. This situation worked well for several months, but one day we got a call from the home telling us Mom had fallen and was very confused. She was transported to the hospital and ended up staying there about four days. It seems she wasn't drinking enough water and her caretakers were not monitoring her intake closely enough. She was on high calcium intake per doctor's orders, and without enough water to dilute the calcium, it began to cause extreme confusion. Mom was not able to return to Carolina Manor and was moved to a nursing home where she could be more closely monitored. While assisted living is a great option for many elderly people, it's important to determine the level of supervision needed by the prospective resident.
