June 2023
As my husband (84) declines with Parkinsons Disease, I could no longer care for all his increasing needs. Knowing that he is cared for and has a community that provides socialization and varied activities has surely helped during this difficult transition time in our lives. As problems arise, the staff and management work with us to come up with solutions.

It is abundantly clear that the seniors at Commonwealth Senior Living are very well cared for by staff that is attentive, patient and kind. The facility is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated to create the ambiance of a loving home.

Amazing staff and continually makes my family feel comfortable that my loves one is in a safe and comforting environment

I am grateful for the team at commonwealth. My loved one had an uncommon diagnosis and uncommon situation necessitating memory care for a few months, and he was definitely not an easy resident for the staff. However, the staff and leadership worked to ensure good communication with our family so we could figure out the best ways to navigate the challenges. They went above and beyond to make my loved one feel welcomed, included, and supported despite his unconventional needs and situation.

This senior living home is exceptional! It is run with such care and sensitivity at such a critical time in a seniors life. Teresa, from our first conversation right up to today addresses every concern brought to her. She is always available and ready to listen and respond. This home is a great size, making it easy to recognize personnel as they recognize family and friends visiting. ❤

My wife and I just moved my father in law into Commonwealth. The whole staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. To top it all off we had to move during a COVID shutdown of the facility. Needless to say we couldnt have done it without the wonderful staff there. Thank you for making this difficult transition as pain free as possible. You are the BEST!!!! Brian and Debbie Schultz

Lisa is great and really went above and beyond to make my grandmother feel secure and comfortable. Lisa is very positive and communicates well with families. Some of the other staff that our family interacted with at Commonwealth were not always easily accessible when communication was needed. My grandmother also complained that some of the staff members there were not nice-rude to her which made our family upset. My grandmother ended up falling and breaking her hip while at Commonwealth. The event-injury was not explained well to our family. After she had her hip surgery at a local hospital, our family decided we no longer wanted her to reside at Commonwealth considering the circumstances. We were then informed that we needed to give a 30 day notice. We were shocked to learn that we would be required to pay for another month at Commonwealth when our grandmother would not even be returning due to the circumstances surrounding her hip injury. Their 30 day notice really seems unreasonable considering she broke her hip while in their care. Considering this, I would not recommend Commwealth Senior Living.

Commonwealth Senior Living is an exceptional place to have your loved one. I am a caretaker for my grandmother and sometimes when we go out of town we use this senior living center for a respite stay. Everyone here is so friendly and warm and my grandmother enjoys herself when she stays here. All of the staff go out of their way to help in anyway they can. When my grandma decided that she wasnt able to go out of town with us anymore we knew we had to find a good alternative while we were away. We visited numerous places including Commonwealth but ultimately this facility was a cut above the rest. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and everyone that you come in contact with is friendly and outgoing. You can tell that everyone cares and is compassionate with the residents. The center is very clean and it is obvious and soon as you come in. You can tell they take pride in keeping everything clean. On the occasion that we have put her in respite care while we are in town we do visit her often. Each time we come in everything is in order and very clean. They are very organized and aware of each resident and their needs. This means alot when you are trusting your loved one with others. My grandma always seems happy and she enjoys the activities and staff. She enjoys the food as well. She says they have a nice variety. Eventually there will come a time when my grandma becomes to much for us to care for. When that time comes I take comfort in knowing we have a great place already picked out for her to stay. She agrees that when she is ready Commonwealth Senior Living in Stafford is the place she wants to call home. For anyone looking for a Senior Living facility for themselves or a loved one I highly recommend Commonwealth Senior Living. You will not be disappointed.

My daddy stays there in the Memory Care Unit. I was initially impressed by the cleanliness. It never smells bad like most nursing homes do. Everyone calls my dad Poppy and that makes him feel like its home. But the way the staff respectfully treats my daddy is what I love the most. Im so glad I was able to find a loving place for Poppy when I was not able to provide the specialized care he needed.

This is an amended review as of 15Feb2020. Greenfield of Stafford was bought and transitioned to what it is now Commonwealth Senior Living. Moved my elderly relative into Greenfield of Stafford (They have various ones in the area) at the beginning of JAN2019. Greenfield of Stafford has since been sold to Commonwealth Senior Living. When I initially looked at it (Jan2019) I went to it unannounced and received a tour, etc. It is a clean, fresh smelling facility. In other words it doesnt smell of urine or old people. Cost involved in living at assisted living facility 1. ROOM - You can either have individual rooms or shared rooms; individual rooms costing more. Which I will call your base cost. Keep in mind if they are Memory loss patients Im sure the room rates are higher whether individual or shared rooms. 2. LEVEL OF CARE - Additional costs is the level of care that will need to be provided. (Memory loss care is higher than independent assisted living, just simplify due to the fact more care-supervision is needed. And this is common at all assisted living facilities. They usually have about 4 levels of care; 1 being the lowest, all the way up to 4. Each level has a charge and it gradually goes up. This location is a 2 floor facility, the top floor being for the severe memory loss. There is a security elevator so people cannot wander off (which is reassuring). Cable TV is included (BASIC Comcast cable), but if you want more than basic cable, it is an additional cost to the resident. Also you have to pursue that on your own. Having a phone line is at individual cost if they want a phone in their room. Not sure if you are restricted to a certain provider. My relative has Verizon. Since the transition to Commonwealth, there has been some staff changes in the everyday staff. Not a bad or a good thing, just saw some changes. There definitely has been a more concerted effort to get more activities going for the residents, which is a good thing for them. It needs some more work but they have started on the path. Before they would have a calendar but you didnt see a lot of the activities being carried out. Security for elderly that might wander off, or go outside alone and are prohibited from doing so works as well. They usually have an alarm attached to them or to their walkers. The they approach restricted doors, doorways, etc alarms you go off and as they attempt to open them them the doorways are locked preventing anyone nearby to open or enter. I experienced seeing an elder resident trying to go outside, as we were leaving from our visit. And the doors immediately locked, alarms went off and no one could get out. We were not aware at the time why we could not get out... A staff members came and took the resident away from the door, and the doors then unlocked for us. They have some type of security that prevented her from opening the door. It was comforting to see that that type of security was in place, had my relative needed it. My relative lives on the first floor, I can not speak-comment on conditions on the second floor. Room heat tends to run VERY hot, even with the temp set down. We have turn the heat off and the room seems to have leveled out since she likes her door open most of the time. It is now FEB 2020 under new ownership. I havent seen a lot of Maintence changes happening. 1. Bathrooms are not all handicap accessible, and all should be remodeled. 2. More activities, activities, and more activities for the residents. Resident need to be kept busy at all times 3. I havent seen a lot or any regular trips happening for the residents lately. The van was repainted with the Commonwealth logo, but beyond that I havent heard of a lot of regular and scheduled trips happening.

This facility has made remarkable upgrades over the past year. Since Covid, just as other similar type places have to be creative to engage residents, Commonwealth does a great job to do so and keep everyone safe.

This community is absolutely wonderful! There have been so many positive changes since the community converted from a Greenfield property to Commonwealth Senior Living; almost too many to name! They treat everyone like family and I mean everyone which is comforting to know when searching for a new home for yourself or a loved one. They offer a home-like environment and take pride in personalizing the care of the individual resident so that everyone feels like a someone. The love the staff shares for each other is evident from the moment you meet them and that same love is reflected in the care their residents receive. Our community is blessed to have this group caring for seniors! ❤

Commonwealth Senior Living at Stafford has been the most wonderful place to have my mother for the past 6 months. Everyone there has gone out of their way to ensure that my mom has the best of care and love. Their team is amazing and there is always open communication as to her well being. Sarah, their director, is amazing, as is all of the staff. RJ made a point of going to visit my mom when she had hospital stays and rehab! I love the newer staff that take care of making sure that the residents have great experiences. They strive to improve all aspects of their residents lives from improving the menu to changing the decor regularly to reflect the seasons- holidays. Activities happen daily and families and friends are always welcome. Christie, the nurse in charge, is in constant contact with families about the health of their loved one, and on the weekends they have another nurse, Maggie, who continues the care. From the moment you walk in and are greeted, a visit to Commonwealth is proof positive that our family made the best decision to entrust them with her care. In closing, I would highly recommend that any family having to make those difficult decisions to place a loved one in assisted living, not miss out on the best facility around, Commonwealth Senior Living at Stafford.

Excellent home environment. My husband has been living there since last Dec. I chose this place because of the staff and care givers. They are beyond any expectation I could ask for. My husband is very content there. I cant say enough good things about them. God is good...He showed me where to go. I checked out seven places in all

During this time of the pandemic quarantine I have been very impressed with how the Commonwealth staff has went out of their way to keep our father in touch with his family. They have scheduled weekly video chats with various family members which have helped keep him connected. Last week they arraigned a window visit where we able to visit with him while he sat in the dining room and we were outside in the courtyard. They have made the best of a bad situation while keeping him and the rest of the residents safe.

Oh my goodness - what a difference!!! Before Commonwealth took over I was at my wits end with Greenfield ... it had become a dump! When I first placed my dad there (almost 6 years ago), it was awesome! The staff was wonderful, warm, friendly and genuinely cared for your loved one. After about a year, the staff changed-left and it just went downhill from there. In five years, I believe Greenfield went through - maybe - 10 directors. Ok - so now the good ... almost immediately once Commonwealth took over, it was like night and day! The staff are awesome! They care, theyre TRAINED on how to not only handle and speak to the elderly, but how to speak and handle dementia residents. What a breath of fresh air!!! I no longer cringe walking there. The staff is friendly, my dad is well cared for AND watching the staff interact with other residents is just a huge transformation from before! I am so so so thankful for Commonwealth and cannot say enough.

Moved my elderly relative into Greenfield of Stafford (They have various ones in the area) at the beginning of JAN2019. When I initially looked at it, I went to it unannounced and received a tour, etc. It is a clean, fresh smelling facility. In other words it doesn't smell of urine or "old people". You can either have individual rooms or shared rooms; individual rooms costing more. From your base cost (being the type of room, individual or shared), the additional cost is the level of care that will need to be provided. Cable TV is included (basic Comcast cable), but if you want more then basic cable it is an additional cost to the resident. Having a phone line is at individual cost if they want a phone in their room. Staff is attentive and friendly from what I can concern; my relative and other residents I have befriended have told me they are treated well and not mistreated in anyway. I have asked staff members if Greenfield treats them right as employees and have gotten the same responses. They have a monthly calendar of events posted and distributed to all. Security for elderly that might wander off or go outside alone and are prohibited from doing so works as well. I experience seeing an elder resident trying to go outside, and the doors immediately locked and no one could get out? We were not aware at the time why we could not get out... A staff members came and took the resident away from the door, and the doors then unlocked for us. They have some type of security that prevented her from opening the door. It was comforting to see that that type of security was in place, had my relative needed it. All and all this facility as of FEB2019 is excellent and I have nothing negative to say. I will revisit the review if I see something I am not satisfied with. My relative lives on the first floor, I can not speak/comment on conditions on the second floor. Room heat tends to run VERY hot, even with the temp set down. We have turn the heat off and the room seems to have leveled out since she likes her door open most of the time. It is now AUGUST2019. since my relative moved in Jan2019 and my last review. The facility has been remodeled , painted and redecorated with new stuff. The new decor is very nice. The only thing that is puzzling and in my view no foresight taken. Hallways were carpeted verses vinyl flooring. They should have put vinyl flooring down with people in wheelchairs, walkers, and difficulty walking; total tripping hazard. They could also use a bit more staff members. It isnt understaffed but some areas need improvement. In October 2019 of this year ownership is being transferred to a new company, so we shall see if they improve, decline or keep the status quo. I dont see Transfer of ownership as a negative or a positive. Ill take a wait and see attitude. But overall this is a good facility, there are much worse ones out there.
