I wish I could show you the picture on how they treat the patients here for dinner. Seems like they want to keep them in bed. I feel like they don't want to take time getting him up. Needs to get up at lease for lunch and rest until dinner and up. I thought this was a good rehab center. The physical therapist are excellent here. I'm changing my mind. They also need a supervisor on second shift. As of 6/21/24 this morning I came in still in bed not dressed still in hospital gown. As of 9:50am still no one comes in to check on him. I believe they need new management over the rehab center. Seems like they don't care about the patients. I still can't recommend this place only thing good is there physical therapy. Still disappointed in how they treat them.

My husband has been receiving OT and PT rehab at Our Lady of the Valley for the last few weeks. The therapists have been very good to work with him. All of the staff are very conscientious with their care. When he had to return to the hospital for a few days, he was told not to worry about having a room in rehab when he returned. The Bistro dining area is very nice, and the food is good too. He has a nice private room with a small refrigerator and a spacious bathroom. We both are very appreciative of the care he is receiving at Our Lady.

The Christopher Center within Our Lady of the Valley provides an excellent memory care program. The residents as well as the employees all seem genuinely happy to be there. My mother blossomed during the year and a half that she spent in their care. Her days were structured with activities specifically targeted for the age and cognitive abilities of the residents, including live music, cooking, bingo, arts and crafts, field trips, seasonal and holiday activities and celebrations, etc. The facility was always clean, the food was great, and the people who work there treat the residents with dignity and respect.

I have worked here for almost two years. I only worked in one other facility before and it was daunting to think that was the standard of care for America's seniors. After coming to Our Lady of the Valley, I know the bar is way higher and we meet it to the best of our ability. We are humans taking care of humans and we may not be perfect all the time but this team strives every day to set that bar even higher. I love the facility, it is so nice. Housekeeping and Maintenance keep everything clean and in working order. The food is so good!! I often eat meals here. There are so many activities for the residents to help support quality of life. It's great getting to know residents and their families. I'm blessed to be a part of this community.

My husband and I have both of our moms at Our Lady of the Valley Assisted Living. We couldn't be happier with the results we've seen in both of them. Happy and content. I have seen huge changes in my mother and her involvement in life enrichment opportunities there. I never thought she would participate. She does, and it has helped her so much to be with others. The staff is incredible. I recently asked my Mother how things were going and she said I have nothing to complain about, "my girls" are so good to me!! The atmosphere is always happy, smiling and positive attitudes. I am so thankful for the employees. They check on our moms all the time and it truly feels like a community.

Short on staff. Medication never on time. Rude nurses. Hard to get water. The call light is useless. CNA were great. The Black nurses was great.

Love working here! Everyone works together to take care of the residents and we truly care!
October 2023
Wonderful place to work! It has a family-like environment. Everyone goes above and beyond for the residents! So glad to be a part of this community!

This place, and the staff (too many to name, you know we love you all!) are the most caring, thoughtful, talented and helpful that I have ever met. My mom's quality of life has increased so much since moving in to Our Lady. She tells everyone that she loves it here! We have to catch her in her home because she's out at a baseball game, or a festival or the store or planting flowers or baking with her friends! I know she's with people who care for her just as I would and we both feel incredibly lucky that this is the place she calls home. This is where I would want to be when it's time for me to have help and care.

I wished I had read some of the newest ratings before my roommate was admitted. I went on the 5* I saw months ago. It's been disappointing since day one. It took a week to get her pain medication ordered and Administ Erd. It takes forever toget a nurse to her room. They are very understaffed as far as I can tell. If I could, I would move my patient to another facility.

I enjoy being a part of the team at Our Lady of the Valley. The rehab team is phenomenal. Every department here works together to try and ensure the best experience for our patients.

Wow, is all I can say when speaking about Erin M. She spent amble time explaining the ends and outs of our available options for placing my Uncle. Even after realizing that Our Lady of the Valley would not be the right fit for our uncle, she recommended other care facilities and was a resource I would have paid money to have simply spoken with for guidance. Her kindness came through with each word and if there was a way for her to be the head of all customer service everywhere, I would endeavor to make it happen. The world needs more people like her and Our Lady of the Valley is impressive!

Today Ms. Pauline OBrien took her last breath this morning, the staff has been great with her. Special thanks to all that cared for her, also good Sam. Thank you all so much for doing a wonderful job again. She was in the rehab part.
October 2022
I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and staff's presence, approachability and knowledge of residents.

Prior to choosing the facility, I spoke with friends and associates who had experienced care there. Unfortunately, the first night was disastrous. My husband did not get his meds timely and some not at all. By 3pm, the facility had all information needed for his care, but it was after 10pm before his meds were delivered from a provider 2 hours away. From the hospital, an inflatable assist equipment (which allows for easy transfers from the bed) was removed and never seen again. This created unnecessary pain and duress for my husband. There are some wonderful staff members such as Catherine, Sayra and others that went above and beyond. When there was not staff to give a bath or change the bedding, Catherine made sure it was done when she arrived. When no one answers the call bell ( which goes directly to their telephone) for 45 minutes or more and you are immobile; what can you do? This is a total failure!! This was the first time in a rehab facility so everything should be explained by staff, especially the discharge process. My husband was to leave today, but NO the discharge work has not been done and the SW is out today as well as the OT director. We are told OT needs a letter from the doctor verifying my husband can be home. According to the doctor's staff, nothing is required, the site visit report would determine that. The doctor only can speak to what he sees during the exam. A walker was not ordered and there's no one discussing the what's and how's. Praying that he will be out of there tomorrow!! So frustrating and disappointing!! We know that there's a lot of contractors involved, however; this is poor and inexcusable!! I would give 1 rating, but because of some of the staff, I'm giving a 3. Tony the chef made sure my husband didn't miss his meals!!

My mother-in-law was a reluctant resident at our Lady of the Valley and received excellent caring services from all of the people there.
May 2021
My 93 year old mother came here for 21 days of rehab after a short hospital stay. The admissions director, Susan, answered dozens of questions and lots of phone calls as we tried to choose a place to go. The intake process was easy and reassuring, and my mom had a comfortable, single room on the rehab floor. Every last person we interacted with was kind, helpful, prompt, competent and cheerful. She loved her rehab caregivers, and the NP and hall nurses were wonderful. The food was good, and the atmosphere cheerful and clean. The other residents we interacted with were so welcoming and positive about their experiences. And the coffee/tea station in the dining room was such a welcome bonus for each visit. I can't say enough good things about OLV— Thank you for getting my mum into tip-top condition and able to come home again!

Helpful and friendly staff with an inviting atmosphere. What a wonderful facility!
November 2020
My family moved my mother to Our Lady of the Valley after having negative experiences with some other senior care/rehab facilities in the Roanoke area. We have had a very different experience at Our Lady of the Valley. The facility is well-run, clean and has a pleasant atmosphere inside and out, the food is good (this is huge compared to other places, nutrition is so essential overall but especially for older people), and most importantly, the staff at all levels is friendly, helpful, responsive and willing to regularly keep you in the loop about your loved one's care and address any needs that come up. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for assisted living, nursing rehab or full nursing care.
