On May 17, 2024 - Both of my parents and I were blessed to have them move to the Laurels at University Park. My parents are 87 & 89 years old now - each having several medical issues. The amazing staff on the Washington Hall every day has been Professional, Friendly, Loving, Caring, Helpful, Uplifting, & very knowledgeable of my parents medical & personal daily needs. We all are so impressed with their great care - as a family we are 150 % satisfied - the staff truly cares and that is why I still have my parents to go to visit daily at their Beautiful Facility. I was at the Laurels for a month rehabbing a broken. I can say with certainty that the employees, save for a couple, truly care about the comfort and progress of their clients. Even though the food could be improved they do their best with what they're given. Make sure you ask what the smoking rules are.

This nursing home is amazing!! Especially the staff on the Washington wing. My mother who is mentally disabled is being treated with care and dignity here at the Laurels of University Park. At her stay at a Previous nursing home, she was neglected by some staff members causing her to have her right pinky toe amputated. She wasn't able to walk. She was in so much pain. But the staff at laurels came to the rescue! They made sure her wound was changed properly. They keep my mother clean and looking good! Her clothes are not missing when the staff washes them. And now my mother can walk again!!! Special thanks to Keisha and Tammy and all the staff members who work the Washington wing!! Keep doing the best you can!! and I really do appreciate you guys! This nursing home really restored my faith in humanity and I am forever grateful knowing that my mother is going to be safe with such trusted staff.

My 83-year-old mother in-law was a resident of your facility under the care of the Regency Unit led by Charisse Hembrick. Charisse and her team were kind, professional, and went above and beyond to meet my mother in-law's health needs. They were patient and helped our family during a very trying time. In addition, I was impressed by the friendliness of all of the staff members I came into contact with, and appreciated the uplifting seasonal decorations when you walked in the door.

I was admitted to the Laurels of University on 1/16/24 after being hit while riding my scooter and ending up in MCV/VCU for 2 1/2 weeks. Being here at the Laurels of University Park, was a good place for me to recuperate. The staff here was excellent, including the rehab department. The CNAs did their jobs beyond expectations! I really appreciate what the staff has done for me. The love and care i was shown was very appreciative and I thank them all. Sincerely Vernon Sheilds

I was recently in the SNF portion of this facility following a hospitalization for more skilled nursing and therapy to regain my strength. This facility far exceeded my expectations for care and treatment. All of my nurses were beyond caring, highly attentive, and professional and I also received outstanding treatment from the therapy department. I left the facility much stronger physically than when I was admitted. The social worker D. Ragan was an excellent resource for me and my family during my stay and she was always available to answer any questions or concerns that we had regarding my care. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs therapy and skilled nursing care for themselves or a family member.

My 82 year old was a resident after suffering from several pulmonary embolisms which did extensive damage to his organs, as well as disrupted his short term memory, speech, and mobility. My wife and I choose this facility after looking at the favorable reviews, and the level of care that he received was fantastic. When I would visit him, I was always greeted by practically all staff members. They provided him with the physical therapy that was required with quality care and also respect. I would also say that the Social Service Director, Dineen Ragan and the Nurse Unit Manager, Charisse Hembrick were exceptional and able to walk our family through this process and answer all of our questions thoroughly. Thank you for the level of care provided to our father!

The care that was received at the Laurels of University Park was good. The caretakers took extra care of me, which provided me with peace of mind. The physical and occupational therapists worked with me to increase the strength in my legs.

My mom has been with the Laurels for about 8 years. As any facility there have been ups and downs, but I will say there have been more ups, during Covid it was hard on everyone. Since then things are settling back to a positive note! BUT one person who has always been there and has kept the patients and family members in touch and cared for is the Activity director Catherine, she goes above and beyond! Thank you Catherine for what you do! One of many things she did is the decorating for my mom's birthday! It was very special! Again thank you!

I was at the Laurels of University Park for over a month to recover from Covid pneumonia. I was treated daily with kindness and respect by the nurses, aides, therapists, and all the staff I came in contact with. This is truly a demanding and difficult job but the dedication and unfailing patience of all is always evident. I was grateful that was here my recovery and rehab and I am grateful for all the staff and therapists who helped me get back on my feet again. I felt like I have a family when I was here because they treated me like their own family member. I would recommend The Laurels of University Park if you have any nursing or rehab needs. I am happy to return home stronger and better.
