I had kept my mom with Dementia/Alzheimer's for about 3-4 years and when the disease progressed, we needed to find somewhere she could go that could give her the extra care she needed around the clock. A friend told me that she knew some people that lived at the Barrington and it was a great place and we needed to check it out. From Day 1 we were astounded at the attentiveness of the staff and helping us to transition mom to their memory care unit. Letting mom go was very hard for me but knowing she was at the Barrington made it a little easier the staff there are wonderful she is well taken care of and has even made a few friends. It took a few weeks, but mom settled in just great she stopped asking to go home constantly. The Barrington has lots of activities to keep the residents engaged. My mom loves music and they do a lot of singing and dancing and it is so wonderful to see her happy. Rachel was the one who walked us through the whole process, and she did a wonderful job she really cares about her residents and their families. I cannot say enough about the Barrington and their staff. They have been upfront and transparent the whole time as well about everything. They have a nurse practitioner on staff so no need to worry about taking mom to the doctor they can do what she needs right there in house. I know mom is in good hands and that means I can sleep better at night.

In touring, the Barrington at Hioaks, the newly renovated community, which is now under RUI ownership, I was wowed by the new transformation! Not only are the aestetics gorgeous, the apartments ones I would consider! RUI's signature programs (at all their locations) such as Luxe, FIT, Meals, RUI University, Leash for Life which allows the residents to keep their pets, are all wonderful programs! Residents were engaging, happy and so wonderful! Their memory program, Inspiritas, was a great area! View the community for yourself!

The Barrington is a wonderful Independent living, assisted living, and memory care community near Chippenham Hospital. The residents receive quality care; there's a wide variety of activities for the many different backgrounds of the residents; and the food is delicious as well :). It's been around for many years and offers not only quality care, but consistent care! They work quickly to address any issue - large or small to ensure residents have a fun and fulfilling life there. I can highly recommend the Barrington!

This is the most amazing facility for your loved ones. When my father arrived he was stunned by the quality of the care here. Their attention to detail shows the love that their employees have not only for the residents but for each other. I highly recommend them! When employees are happy at their job it shows in their faces and the way they treat each other and their guests. You can see that each staff member takes pride in doing their job with love and making every detail perfect for the residents. It doesn't feel like a nursing home it feels like a very nice apartment complex with a restaurant style dining room and a movie theater!

Before choosing the Barrington for my father, I toured a half dozen other assisted living facilities. By far, Barrington provides a superior environment. It feels more like an all-inclusive hotel than assisted living. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The apartments are well appointed. Dad raves about the food in the dining room. There are planned outings, and many daily activities. There is an on-site masseuse as well as a full service salon, a gym, and Starbucks Cafe in the lobby. There are raised garden beds outside as well as a wonderful pavilion for catching the sun or shade. They literally roll out the red carpet for their residents. Thank you for making Dad feel so welcome and at home.

My mom stayed in the memory care unit here and I feel she received excellent care. The staff is extremely kind and caring, and did an excellent job engaging my mom with the community. This was a difficult time for us as it was my mom's first experience with assisted living and she was suffering from dementia. Knowing she was in good hands of caring, capable people provided some needed comfort.

I just want to thank the facility staff for really looking out for my uncle. I know my aunt played hell getting him in there and they've been great. I stopped by to visit since he's been there for a bit and the holidays are coming up. He told me about a bunch of staff, but mostly about the kitchen. He's a big fan of a guy named Aaron in the kitchen and said that he makes grilled cheeses on command for him and they aren't dripping with grease or smashed like someone stepped on them to cook faster. Not sure the old guy should eat too many of those, but glad he's a fan. He told me another funny story that Aaron told him that his beef tips and mushshrooms was a family recipe and that he couldn't give out the secret and some other back and forth about that. Whatever it is, I'm just glad he's taking a liking to him and getting along there with his new buddy. Thanks for all you guys and Aaron do for him.

I can't say enough positive things about this place. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The facility has been recently renovated and the residents have access to impressive amenities. They are also afforded the ability to age in place, where they can receive additional care but remain in their same apartments. I've also attended a few events there and the chef is amazing! I would highly recommend this facility to any seniors looking for a new home.

My mom has been here for a year and I can't say enough good about this place. The staff greets me by name when I come in to visit. They all know who my mom is and, what she's interested in. My mom needs a great deal of care and the kindness that this staff has shown towards her speaks directly to my heart. The time had come for me to transition my 92-year-old father into an assisted living community. Having never been exposed to this community before, I had to learn everything from the ground up. I visited five locations in the Richmond area. The Barrington at Hioaks was simply the best of the best. My first experience involved meeting with the Community Relations Director, Mrs. Lewis. She navigated me step by step in my new adventure. She was welcoming to talk with, fully answered my numerous questions, and is an expert in her field. Simply put, she is fantastic. My dad has now been living in The Barrington for a few weeks and is adapting well. He loves the food -- which is a big deal for him!!! The staff is friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. They certainly are a blessing and deserve nothing but praise for what they do day in and day out. I truly feel God provided the guidance and grace for me to visit The Barrington and the blessing for my dad to become a new resident.

A great facility with such caring staff and my loved one just can’t stop talking about all of the fun activities that they offer. The maintenance staff is great as well. They are quick to address maintenance request, even for the littlest things. We have been to other facilities in the area, and this one is hands down the best.

Our hospice company works collaboratively with this community and I can honestly say that our hospice patients receive great care here! The staff is very attentive to our patients and respond quickly to their needs. We really enjoy working with them, and our communication with them is excellent.

Have been here 3 years and 3 months. Have had a problem with the food from day one. The menus they put out look great but what you actually get is a different story. When considering making a move from our home, we checked out all places and landed at the Towers because of the friendly staff. The food still is my main problem - so many carbs, I suspect because carbs are cheap and filling. My husband's sugar has jumped from under one hundred to almost two hundred because of all the carbs we are fed. When the covid virus set in we were quarantined to our apartment, not being able to even go out in the hallway for four months. It is now September and just a few months ago we've been able to see our children for outside visits only. For a month now contractors have been allowed in to renovate apartments and RUI is showing apartments, allowing people to move in and allowing their children to come in to help them move, but our children are still not allowed to come inside for visits in our apartments. Doesn't make a bit of sense since all these other things have been opened up. My advice to anyone looking for a place like this is, you can rest assured if you are locked in for the flu or another virus for however long this company needs or feels the need to keep you locked up, you will not be able to see your children or friends.

I am deeply grateful that we found The Towers for our mother three years ago. The employees are amazing and thoughtful and creative, and the facility is lovely. Since the COVID-19 shutdown in March, I've been very impressed with the extreme level of care provided.

Moving my grandfather to The Towers in September 2018, was the best decision for our family. The entire staff at the Towers (Operations, Nursing, Activities, Maintenance, Dining, etc...) are extremely talented and very welcoming. After a few weeks living at The Towers, my grandfather's health, mood and care drastically improved from his previous senior living community and he has made so many new resident friends. I highly recommend this community, should you be looking for or have a loved one that is looking for a place to genuinely call home.
