My family member has been at Spring Oaks for over a year and has enjoyed her stay. She enjoys the activities and games during the day. The facility provides her full meals, three times a day, and snacks throughout the day. They have offered a lot of activities from hairdressing, nail painting, physical therapy, holiday parties and church services. The staff at Spring Oak has been extremely friendly and responsive. If gives me joy that she gets wonderful care at this facility.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY... DO NOT SEND THEM TO THE MEMORY CARE FACILITY! If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is completely unacceptable. My mother has Alzheimer's, and stayed there for 30 days. She did not receive basic care. I had to pick her up one day and take her to a doctor's appointment 90 minutes away. The center was aware of this and knew she would be gone overnight. We were told her items would be packed, and she would be ready to go. When I arrived, nothing was packed, and my mom had on a see-through dress that was unacceptable. The aide told us she had just given her a shower, but my mom had dried skin and other things that indicated they were not washing her full body, possibly only her "hot spots." I took pictures, but did not have time to address it with the director because my mother had an accident and had to be washed and put on new clothing. My sister sent the director the pictures, and she told us she would respond as she was in a meeting when the pics were sent. SHE NEVER RESPONDED TO US, which shows she knew my mom was not receiving basic care, especially for someone who experiences incontinence frequently. Also, in my mom's closet, lying on the floor, were a bunch of her clothes that were dirty and smelling. I asked why they weren't washed, and they said they would wash them. When I came back the next day, her bedroom slippers were on the floor in the closet and had a terrible urine smell. I again asked why this was and was just told they would wash them. Today, she returned home, and she was wearing bedroom slippers!! My mom had 2 pairs of sneakers with her. Why did they send her home in bedroom slippers is beyond me! We were told (and have text messages) that stated that all her clothes would be washed/laundered before leaving and she would be good to go. That was a lie! NONE OF HER CLOTHES WERE WASHED! In fact, most of her clothes were heavily soiled, stained, filthy, and had a gross smell that permeated my sister's home. On top of this, my mother smelled badly as if she had not been washed in days!! AND her medication that she takes morning and night was not with her. I will be making a trip to Petersburg and filing a grievance. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!! If you care for your loved ones, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!

While visiting Virginia, I met Marilyn Adams in the Commissary and noticed her work badge and struck up a conversation regarding finding a place for my mom. She was nice enough to do a Virtual Tour via phone and I was pleased with what I saw. Thank you Mrs. Marilyn for all of your help!

My mother has been a resident in the Memory Care residence for 3 years. Staff is compassionate and knowledgeable. I have observed that all of the residents have learned to be sweet and tolerant of each other— no small feat with a dementia group— a testament of the expert care and management of the facility.

Love coming by to visit the team at Spring Oak, Tri-Cities! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. It really does have that warm and homely feel. The building is so nice. In all my years of healthcare, it's one of the nicer buildings I've been in. The wide opened rooms and tons of spaces for the residents to enjoy are wonderful. The grounds outside are beautiful. I know the Director, Heath, has what it takes to make this community an absolute dream!
