Yesterday, over the phone as I don't live nearby, I was trying to help my in-laws with their TV. They wanted to watch something but couldn't figure out how to get to the correct "channel". They actually needed to add Paramount+ to their TV. Both suffer with memory issues and the clock was ticking as the Live event started in about 1 hour. I wound up speaking with Ms Heather Wardlaw who works at Charter. I don't know what her exact position is but Angel-in-Disguise probably isn't her official title! Ms Heather tried to add the App with help from her daughter Ga**on, an upcoming high school senior, over the phone. After a minute or two Ga**on came up to Charter and set it up on my in-laws TV AND fixed a couple of bugs on my Mother-in-law's iPhone. She was kind and patient with both myself and my in-laws which is also a tribute to the example Heather set for her. I am SO thankful to them both and grateful. Charter Senior Living, whatever you're paying Heather Wardlaw can not be enough! She's definitely a keeper!!! Note: I added the ** to Heather's daughter's name since she's a juvenile.

I have so much to be thankful for with Charter Senior Living of Newport News. Before moving there, my mother was twice brought to a hospital, after insisting she wanted to remain in her home. Angel took her in during my fraught visit from California and Jennifer has the greatest rapport with her charges, I can tell, even from so far away. Corey should be mentioned as well, because he was very helpful when my mother's furnishings were being placed in her room. I have much less stress and worry now, though I keep my hand in monitoring her overall contentment and health. For the latter, her recovery from malnourishment and lack of hydration have been astounding. The inner open courtyard is a great resource, though excursions also form a big part of the program. Any incidental occurrences are promptly reported to me and I am pleased to keep her under the care of the mindful staff working there.

My mom with Alzheimer's needed more care than we could provide. She was having a lot more bad days than good, so we moved her to Charter's Memory Care. It's exactly what she needs. In addition to being safe and well cared for by people who treat her like family, the daily routine and enjoying activities with others who have similar needs is comforting for her. She doesn't always remember what she's done, but she always remembers how she feels. She feels good. Thank you to the entire team at Charter for helping my mom enjoy more good days.

I want to thank the entire team at Charter Senior Living for the amazing care that they gave my father when he was there. Everyone was so attentive and made sure that my dad's stay was as comfortable as possible. He made great friends there, ate delicious food, and had fun at all the activities. I was able to spend over an hour with my friend Dorothy Tynes after traveling from Louisiana. She remembered me though it had been over 4 years since she had seen me. We reminisced about shared experiences, cried, held hands and told each other we loved them. We had privacy but no tissues. I learned she passed away 4 days after that visit. I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend time with her.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Jones for a VIP tour of Charter Senior Living of Newport News. First impressions are lasting, and I was immediately welcomed by a pleasant receptionist, experienced a punctual appointment, and received a thorough tour of the rooms I was interested in, along with a comprehensive overview of the facility’s amenities. As I explored options for moving my mother from The Harmony on the Peninsula in Newport News”due to significant issues there”Charter quickly became a strong contender. In comparison, the Sales/Marketing Director and facilities at Commonwealth at Hampton and The Hidenwood ranked as a distant third and fourth, respectively. Ms. Jones made my decision especially difficult with her professionalism, timely updates, prompt responses to my inquiries, and expertise in addressing my mother’s needs and concerns. Ultimately, with all factors being equal except for pricing, I chose another assisted living facility based on its smaller community size and initial promotional pricing. Time will tell if forgoing a well-established facility with seasoned, professional staff and management was the right choice. If not, I would have no hesitation in considering Charter again.

My mother recently moved in and settled in nicely. The staff is courteous from the maintenance team to the front desk and everyone that provides personal care. My only concern is with housekeeping. There is rarely a trash bag for patient care trash...wipes, etc. Also, the toilet was not so clean today, which is unusual. Overall I love this home for my Mother and would recommend this residence whole heartedly

The staff was quite helpful and protective of my mom. My mom used to hang out with her neighbors. While the food could be better it was nutritious.

I was very apprehensive about my mother's transition to senior living from her private residence in Gloucester for over 20 years. Our initial tour of the facility was very thorough, the staff was very welcoming and helpful with all my families questions. Once my mother moved in she was welcomed with open arms by not only the staff but all the residents. There is plenty to do for YOU and your loved one. All of your family is invited to multiple functions throughout the month. The staff is nothing short of amazing and took care of my mother with compassion and kindness. I would recommend this senior living facility whether you live local or are out of town.

My mother moved in 2 months ago and already calls Morningside home. She is very happy with her room and is always raving about Chef Lee's meals and how Bobby (dining room staff member) looks after her in the dining room. The facility looks and smells clean, the guest washroom on the first floor is clean and spacious, the staff is very friendly and the bistro is such a cozy nook that anyone can feel at home there. Morningside's nursing staff has kept in constant contact with us as we figured out my mother's medications, habits and areas of concern. Living out of town I feel Morningside was the best choice for her and us -- giving our family a sense of relief that she is in caring hands, safe and happier than we have seen her in a long time.

I’ve been to Morningside in Newport News, VA many times and have always been extremely impressed! Their grounds always look beautiful as well as does the interior. The food there is AMAZING I always look forward to the next time I get the pleasure of having a meal there. The staff, starting with when you walk in the front entrance and all the way through, are always very nice, helpful and just a joy to interact with! This is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone in need of the caring services they provide for seniors that are at a place in their lives where they need additional help and assistance. The location is also very convenient to just about anything one could need close by. All around excellent choice for seniors and their loved ones to consider as an option when seeking senior living housing!!

My mother has been a resident of Morningside for the past 5 years. There has been some ups and downs as with any assisted living but I will say that all in all my mother is happy and chooses to stay at Morningside. Over the past year or so they have made some major changes in all of the staff from the Housekeeping to the Director of Nursing and it has made a tremendous difference in the overall care at Morningside. Not to mention they just did a overall remodel on the building and it looks amazing.

Jennifer Henning was our "Guardian Angel" at Morningside in Newport News. She went out of her way to make sure Mr. Harry Curtis was taken care of while he lived there for 2 + years. She made it possible for him to have a private room, she made herself available to answer EVERY concern I had about his care, his personal possessions, and, at the end, had him come back to his room to make the journey to the other side.
