My mother was here for several years. A kind doctor helped me get her out to a facility that would take better care of her. When it was the Oaks, it was pretty good. It was organized and good care. When it was sold to The Elms people everything went way downhill. To make it simple. During her stay, when she was ambulatory, she was left to navigate on her own resulting in one particular bad head bruise, her leg was broken and how it happened was not explained. Her toenails, which I had signed up for the doctor to do on a monthly basis, at some point stopped being done and her nails grew to arch under her feet. The doctor, whom I called, said he was told she wasn't on the list to have her nails cut. Well, she should have been and was, as related to me by the doctor, for the first year or two. Then he was told, unbeknownst to me, that she didn't want them trimmed. I noticed her nails when at the ER for her broken leg. Who the heck doesn't need their nails trimmed. Makes no sense. Other than that, the appearance is attractive and sometimes they did have activities depending on the owners and staff at the time. This is reviewing a stay of about 5 years ending in 2017. Late review and no idea what the situation currently.

I went to the Elms last week and toured with Cordell Purvis. He was very knowledgeable, understanding and answered all of my questions. Everyone greeted me and also said hello when I walked in. It was like a family setting inside and the staged rooms are very nicely laid out so you can see what you can and cannot bring for your loved one. I hope this helps others looking into assisted living for their loved ones.

The Elms The Elms is very home like and the food is good most days, but we all have foods we dont care for. Alternatives are offered. Staff really cares about the people who live here. The Elms offer and encourage socialization and activities daily. This is a good place.

This is a beautiful community with beautiful care givers. The memory Care neighborhood has large beautiful rooms with a wonderful activities director. This is the only community that has a all inclusive rate that beats the other community rates in Lynchburg. They never nickle and dime the families. One price every month. Stop by and have a tour with Laurie the Marketing Director she is fantastic!
