My mother recently suffered a congestive heart failure exacerbation and was admitted to the hospital. She had lost significant ability in the hospital and it was determined that she needed skilled nursing before she could transition back home. She was placed at Westminster Lake Ridge facility, where they had skilled nursing for her and I can't say more good things about this organization. She came there completely afraid of being alone and about the recovery process. Whose going to be on her side? The nursing staff and administration treated her like a family member. It helps that the facilities are absolutely beautiful. Even when it became clear that our mother would require a longer stay they helped us wade through the very murky waters of long term care to find a solution. Our social worker, Alexis, was an angel put on this earth to help us through this very difficult situation. We all know that our parents are one day going to need more services and the guidance and the care that they showed my mother gave us great comfort and assurance that we were in the right place. They set the standard for any senior living facility and are a great resource to Virginians who are transitioning to more care or going through recovery. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Westminster from the Fazelat Family.

I have enjoyed living at WLR for 8 years. The bucolic landscaping is one thing that attracted me. Easy to make friends here and activities to do. We have fun!

My Mom moved here a few years after my father passed. It's not cheap but it's a beautiful campus and the staff is great, a nice mix of younger and older residents.

After visiting six CCRCs in the DMV and three in Florida, my husband and I settled on WLR for a number of reasons: quality of care, warmth and kindness of residents and staff, delicious food, beautiful and well maintained campus, and the option of cottages to live in. Cailin, a Sales Counselor, did a great job of orienting us to everything WLR has to offer, and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. WLR is an easy commute to DC, and is right next door to the charming village of Occoquan.

Absolutely love skating through this area since it's almost a 5 minute skate away from my house, the beautiful area always has amazing sundowns if your in the right spot. The whole area is so beautiful and consists of a-lot of relaxing surroundings. From the nice roads to the beautiful pond and amazingly built architecture of the main building. I'd definitely recommend this place for people who are looking to move into the area. Although i'm not sure i'm open to using their gym ( which I heard they have ) I'd still rate this place a high 5 (:

My wife and I looked at 9 different CCRCs in Georgia, Florida and the Metropolitan DC area. While many of these had nice features and qualities the only one that offered the entire package was Westminster at Lake Ridge. It's in an ideal location in a beautiful setting. The amenities of the DC area are reasonably near but you are living in a small town. The staff including sales, transition and construction could have not been more helpful and patient. We look forward to moving in in the next several months.

We have been looking, carefully looking, at senior communities in the Northern Virginia area, and happened across Westminster of Lake Ridge— what a lovely community! What kind and thoughtful staff! What a lovely location! With walking trails, garden and gardening areas, close to shops, transportation options, and having a continuum of care, it's well worth checking out. The apartments are well designed and actually customizable, as are the cottages. In talking to residents, we felt warmly welcomed and heard the enjoyment they had living in the community. We had the pleasure of spending the night with them, so that out family could see where we are planning to move—and based on our experience and theirs, they are encouraging other senior family members to come take a look.

My spouse was at their health center for rehab for 2 1/2 weeks in March 2021 and due to Covid-19 restrictions visits were only possible by phone via outside window. Rehab seems to have been adequate, but follow up arrangements were poor to nonexistant. Even after numerous email requests, I still have not received information as to what rehab was done, who did it and and what procedures were employed. Also did not receive information (again after numerous requests) about which providers were to provide at home services for follow on care. Non responsive administration!

The Westminster at Lake Ridge is a senior assisted living facility with a very bright and professional medical staff located in Lake Ridge VA. The Westminster has its own health center too. One of the great perks is that this location is almost hidden away in a suburban area, which helps the the facility remain safe and secure; providing its residents privacy and an environment away from the busy hustle and bustle of this area. However, it does keeps vehicle traffic to a minimum when the residents are out and about enjoying the weather because it's not a through street. The facility is sizable enough to permit family and friends to park at the facility to visit their loved ones. In addition, the facility has a roadway saturated by beautiful trees, which I find to be very pleasant for anyone in this location.

Our family's experience was great! For us it was a multi-year process but that was not the fault of the people at Westminster at Lake Ridge (WLR)! Once my parents made the decision and we filed the paperwork and application we were notified promptly that we were approved and placed on the waitlist for the unit they wanted. We received periodic emails during our wait time and my parents received vouchers to come try a couple meals at WLR (delicious). Unfortunately mom passed away but dad wanted to go forward with their plan of moving to WLR when an apartment was available. Once we received notification that a unit had become available, Cailin (sales) was able to accommodate our request to come early the next day to view the apartment so that we could leave for vacation after the visit. The rest of the process went very smoothly and it was made as pain-free a process for my father as possible. Even having to observe restrictions due to COVID-19 and deal with rain, move in day went great! There was lots of support from James, and visits from other WLR staff to see if we needed anything and introduce themselves. Dad even had a social distanced visit from his mentor in the community, Bill. My dad loves living at WLR and tells us all the time how happy he is, what he ate and who he has met on his walks through the hallways. I know I will forget someone so will not try to list everyone but there was a lot of communication from everyone each step of the way. From the Sales group, to Design (when dad picked paint colors and discussed any possible changes to the apartment) to Move in, to Independent Living services and front desk personnel as we were learning the process, everyone was cheerful and very helpful. Thanks to everyone who helped dad make this needed change in his life! We love seeing him so happy and stress-free.

Westminster has attractive housing and picturesque surroundings. Although it is described as a continuing care facility, the restrictions on those health insurances currently being utilized raises doubts about the actual reality of continuing care.

Having lived here for more than seven years, I'm firmly convinced that I could not have chosen a better retirement community. The slogan "Engaged Living" is totally accurate, and fully describes both the lifestyle of the residents and the attitude of the administration that is both caring and forward-looking.

Right from the start we were taken with Westminster at Lake Ridge. Our first contact was an introductory luncheon with a very thorough and clear presentation. Our questions were answered and we completed a Wait List application. That was two years ago. We have returned for special events and "wait list" lunches. The staff are gracious and helpful. This fall the apartment we have been waiting for became available. WLR provided orientation and design sessions and we are ready to move in. We are still very active and engaged in the community and we anticipate that living at WLR will only enhance our quality of life with a host of new friends and activities. Some ask if we have any regrets about this move. Like other friends who live in retirement communities, we're prepared to say, "Only that we didn't do this sooner!"

We decided several years ago that a Continuous Care Retirement Community (CCRC) was the best life plan for us. After reviewing many choices online and visiting a couple of locations, we selected Westminster at Lake Ridge. We wanted to live in an independent cottage with easy walking access to onsite amenities such as a gym, dining, and recreation, all of which we found at Westminster. The health services offered are varied and will provide us with care through any stage of our life. Once we made our decision, the administrative staff has stayed in touch with us and is always available to answer any of our questions. We like that there are opportunities to talk with those already living there as well as to meet others on the waitlist through social events or informative sessions. That Westminster is close to family is an added bonus for us. We look forward to becoming a permanent member of the community when the time is right for us.

Westminster at Lake Ridge lives up to the motto of "Engaged Living". The residents at WLR choose from a variety of activities both on and off campus. Personally, my favorite on-campus activities are ringing hand-chimes, knitting, the book club, long walks on campus and chatting with friends. I volunteer on a committee, tutor at the local elementary school and serve as a hospice volunteer. Dinner table conversation over a glass of wine and a nice meal round out my day. AND, I can always stay home and enjoy a good book. Off campus, I maintain friendship from many years ago and enjoy my church. Metro is close enough for easy access to DC. This is just the sanest life-style for me at this time in my life. I've never met so many interesting, active, engaged "old folks". Come join us.

I have been a resident since 2013 and I cannot tell you how much I enjoy living here. It is such a warm and welcoming place with wonderful people, great staff and lots of trees, ponds and trails. The search that ended here was based on facts, figures and reputation. The decision was emotional it felt like home and I was near my family. It took a while to choose my path from all the opportunities offered to WLR residents. My first priority is family. We do family dinner on Sunday and every third Sunday, I host. I am proud to have them at a large table talking and enjoying our fabulous buffets. We also travel and it is so nice to just lock my door and know that my place will be cared for and secure. My second priority is my health. We have a great Clinic here where I see almost all of my doctors (you gain a few as you grow older) and do my labs. No more traveling at odd hours to odd places to keep appointments. I am also helping plan and implement our new Center for Healthy Living which will make my passion for swimming that much more enjoyable. My third priority is to do the things I like to do. I found that over the years I really like technology and teaching. A great addition to our new Center for Healthy Living is our new Technology Center which will include our Computer Learning and Information Center where we help other residents and teach technology classes for seniors. Lastly, I treasure my great dinners with my friends and the new fascinating people I meet each day. Maybe I'll meet you soon, and you can join our interesting conversations and events.

Don't wait too long to come to WLR. You have no idea how much fun it is to be here. So many activities, opportunities for learning, fun ways to use your interests and talents abound. It is wonderful sharing delicious meals and activities with such friendly and intelligent fellow residents. Someone else will taking care of so many distractions you used to have, like cleaning, food preparation, and maintenance, so you are free to do as much or as little as you please on and off campus.

We visited five continuing care communities before choosing Westminster at Lake Ridge. All of them were nice: the apartments, the eating facilities, and various other amenities. All of them had staff who were informed and very helpful. We chose this community for a variety of reasons. Most important, it provides ready access to children and grandchildren. We like the relatively small size of the community. Woods have been preserved on site and walking and hiking paths established in those woods. Many regional, county (both PW and Fairfax), and national parks are within easy driving distance. Retail amenities are an easy drive away. Finally, the residents and staff we met were friendly and welcoming.

My father-in-law and my mom were in the rehab center at Westminster. They received quality care from the friendly nursing staff. The management seems to be really good and the staff all seem to really care about the safety and well-being of their patients. The place is kept clean and the food is decent. The facility is bright inside and they provide good PT and OT as well. I have had my mom at 3 other places in the past and this is the BEST BY FAR! 🙂

The PT, OT, and speech/ memory therapist are great! However, the nursing staff and nursing aides are a bit to be desired. They lied to my face about bathing my father. He waited 30 minutes to go to the bathroom?! NOT ACCEPTABLE!I hope to speak to head nurse Ben about my concerns.
