BEWARE of the term "Bait and switch"! This happen to my mother at this facility ..It was hurtful to explain to her . She likes to see the good in everyone ....This is a very deceptive trade practice that does go on in some not all Senior care facilities. This is being posted by a person who has worked in many Senior medical fields for over 30 years.. There are several government agencies, advocates and legal organizations that can help if you experience this unethical practice. Here are a few LTC Ombudsman program , State Dept of Social Services/ Health Licencing Bureau , State Attorneys General office (Consumer Protection Division), Federal Trade Commission depending on your personal experience. This is shared in the spirit of awareness for others...

My mom has been at this facility for about one and a half years. We have been through many changes during this time, however, the new director and her staff changes have been so positive and show a true level of care and concern for the residents and their families. We look forward to the new programs and planned events! The staff is so friendly, helpful and very professional. My Dad has been a resident of Commonwealth Senior Living for almost 5 years and really feels at home there. The staff has been very responsive and helpful to him, from med techs to housekeeping and maintenance . Dining Services spoils him with extra helpings of his favorites. Front desk staff are cheerful and chatty with him. I feel comfortable traveling to see the rest of our family because I feel he's in good hands at CSL Kilmarnock.

We moved my Mom in around mid-March and so far the entire staff has been fabulous to her and to all of us. The food selections have been awesome and the kitchen works with us when we need to make adjustments. The aides have been super compassionate and genuinely listen to our concerns and questions - always willing to help. The administrative staff - from the friendly warm welcomes to the always popping in to see how we’re doing to always stopping to answer any questions or concerns. They’ve been a huge support team to our family since making this transition.

Commonwealth has been a transformative experience for my brother. He was struggling with anxiety when he moved in 4 months ago, but Commonwealth has provided the low stress and supportive environment he needed to begin healing and recovering. Great staff, very nice facility, and good food. Only issue my brother has encountered occasionally relates to medication renewals and missing a day or two of his sleeping pills. As far as I know this problem has been addressed.

Our mother was in CSL at Kilmarnock for her final months of life. We could not be more happy with the empathy, care, cleanliness, and attentiveness of the staff. Her room was bright and she her own window where she could watch the turtles and hummingbirds come and go. The entire staff was amazing: even Jerry the chef would sit with our mom and keep her company once she became bed-bound! Regardless of their role, every single staff member acts like a caregiver. We could not have been more happy with Commonwealth at Kilmarnock and the administration and the staff.

From the first phone call to the present, staff has been professional, courteous, warm and engaging! I was very impressed with the fact that the Director of Residence and the Director of Sales and Marketing, personally went to another facility to screen my brother for consideration as a resident for Commonwealth. I was visiting my Mom on the memory care unit. The staff are always very attentive and we know some of the girls from Right at Home. It’s the next best thing to home with 24 hr care. The staff are wonderful and I always thank them for doing a job I know takes a special person. Bless them all.

Every time I go to visit my dad I have an issue that needs to be dealt with. And although things get fixed it doesn’t take long to go back to the way it was and I need to complain again about the same issue. Understaffing is their biggest problem. The people that work there are nice they just don’t always do their job. The care plans are in place for a reason. To be followed. Yet that isn’t always the case.

I am repeatedly saddened and concerned about the situation of short staffing and minimal care that ALL of the residents receive. Room cleaning and trash removal are almost non existent. Meals are questionable, unappetizing and cold. Heaven only knows what goes on in the Memory Care unit. I shudder every time I see an ad in the Rap Record. I can only pray for the people who have nowhere else to go. I have to believe that justice will come to the Commonwealth Administration.
