Reviews The Woodland

My mother was a patient on the Brantley unit for rehabilitation to get her strength back and her balance. From being sepsis. In three weeks what a difference we have seen in her. Molly in PT was wonderful we wish she could come to her PT at her home and get her even stronger. She is walking so much better not complaining of back pain. No short of breath. Our family thanks everyone for the care she received and staying on top of her physical health and therapy. Big shout to MOLLY in PT and the other staff.

The staff at the Woodlands , especially Lanell in in Admin Services, nurse Sharon and aide Martha were all caring individuals, taking time to be kind and meet the needs of my husband. Thank you ladies for all that you did in making a difficult time a bit easier. May God bless you abundantly.

All of the administration staff have been really good at trying to keep things in order and resolving issues but the lower tier of employees (RN's down) seem discombobulated in knowing what others do. A favorite answer is ""I don't know" instead of I'll find out. Another is "I'll let someone know " and it doesn't happen. It's easy to see that some of the floor employees take the attitude that menial tasks are not in their job description when the truth of the matter is in this type of service employment, everything to help a patient is in their job description. On the other side of the coin, the PT & OT therapists are excellent. And some of the RN's and CNA's are really good. Just depends on who you get. And I have to say the weekend staff of nurses is excellent. This is my first and only stay in a SNF so I don't have any other facility or stays to compare it to. All I can use for my rating is my current stay at the Woodlands.

Recent changes in management at this facility have had a negative impact for residents (Lee Unit). The facility is clean and staff are generally friendly, but residents who are limited/cannot do for themselves suffer. Our mother has suffered neglect, delay of care, and multiple injuries - the latest ER visit 1/23. We visit regularly and have waited up to an hour for them to get her out of bed/dressed and into a wheelchair, despite repeated requests while 5-6 staff members sit chatting at the nurse's station. She has had soiled clothes/linens. She is on a puree diet (staff fed) and only gets one serving of food per meal, despite requests to double her intake. Staff members even claim that she eats very well and wants more food. Brand new gift items/clothes given to her for birthdays/Christmas are missing very soon after laundry/housekeeping services. They have discontinued programs/services, with compassionate leaders, that provided added support for residents. The Lee Unit at The Woodland did have a great reputation, but now shows significant decline in resident care.

From what I’ve seen so far, The Woodland is very nice facility in Farmville. We had a delicious lunch today, and I was very impressed with the quality of food offered to us in the Community Center. We had an excellent lunch meeting with The Rotary Club, and our guest speaker was Town Manager Scott Davis. We had plenty of space between tables, and the meeting space here looked very clean!

Very kind staff. As a current resident, I experience long wait times between when I ring for staff and when they come to help me. On weekends this can stretch to 30 minutes or more. This is not the fault of staff. There are few staff for many residents. Otherwise I find staff are kind, skilled and respectful.

Both my parents were taken care of there the last years of their lives. We had them in there for 15+ years and never regretted one day. Excellent staff, friendly, courteous always and willing to help. I also got to see many others of my parents generation as I went to school with their children as classmates who graduated from PEA in 1968. My name is Jimmy Nixon and I have visited classmates of mine as well there. I fully expect I will also be a "Woodland Resident" before my final resting place at Westview Cemetery there in Farmville. My Mom was admitted to Woodlands in October after having a stroke. The nurses were very helpful and nurse Jacque was amazing with my mom. Mom had a feeding tube and Jacque made sure she was comfortable. The CNA's LaShonda and Jo were so wonderful. My mother was always clean and happy. Mom had therapy with, Meredeth, Tina, Tommy, and others they were all great. I started therapy at Woodland with Tony Brown and I simply love it. I'm feeling so much better. My pulled groin muscle is really easing up. My mother is on the waiting list for the Lee unit and we are praying for a miracle. We love the Woodland, we will keep you all in our prayers and please remember us in yours. Have a Happy Holiday season and a Happy, prosperous, healthy, New Year.
