My Father spent time at the Glebe for physical therapy after a hip surgery. I cannot express how impressed we were with care from every angle of his rehabilitation. From the greeter, to the nursing staff, the cna’s, the cleanliness, the social workers, and communication with family. The cafeteria staff is amazing. The food is amazing, fresh and healthy! We are convinced that we made the right choice to move to The Glebe in Daleville, Virginia, located in the beautiful mountains near Roanoke. It’s an extremely well-run facility with responsive, caring staff who quickly learn all the residents by name. We’ve only lived here for 4 months and have already made great friends. The welcoming atmosphere is one of the many highlights here, and we haven’t met a resident who does not enjoy living here. We appreciate all that is offered to help keep our health strong. Multiple group fitness classes are offered at a variety of levels. The gym is well-equipped, and the fitness director will individualize exercise routines for each resident. The salt water pool and hot tub are absolutely magnificent. In addition to fitness activities, the Glebe brings in interesting speakers and performers, and offers group outings, craft classes, and game socials. And the food---the food is magnificent with a large variety of choices which vary from day to day. Our chefs offer special gourmet theme dinners and the meals are just exquisite. Being a CCRC, it is comforting to know that we will be well cared for should our health needs increase. Health care (including nursing and rehab), assisted living, and memory care are all included. These units are clean and well run. We are so impressed with this facility and are so thankful we decided to make the Glebe in Daleville our home!

From the moment we received an invitation to a presentation at The Glebe everything has gone smoothly. We researched and visited other retirement communities and The Glebe checked all our boxes with respect to comfort, compassion, continuing care and community. Our campus is beautiful and, as Independent Residents, we are able to participate in many of the activities offered. We feel very fortunate and confident that we, with the support of our children, have made the best decision.

This year (2025), we were fortunate to become new Glebe residents, as part of their major expansion and beautiful renovation, and we are so happy we did. The Glebe staff members clearly care about all their residents, but the feelings go both ways because of the personal family-like relationships. Of course, The Glebe provides the kinds of amenities you might expect. Great dining experiences? Absolutely. Fun group activities? Lots to choose from. Lovely surroundings? Even nicer after the recent renovations. Wellness support? A top priority. Maintenance-free living? Yes, thank goodness! But the peace of mind that comes from living in a warm, welcoming, supportive community with lots of interesting people, and knowing you have a plan that will minimize the burden on your loved ones, should you eventually require enhanced care? Priceless!

We helped my parents move into a newly built cottage at The Glebe in August (2025). The Glebe has all the key elements my parents were looking for in a retirement community”a beautiful well designed home in a lovely setting surrounded by mountains, top notch facilities in the big house (the main building), competent caring supportive staff, fantastic programming, great food, and a welcoming, warm community of residents. This was a big change for my parents and now four months in we couldn’t be more pleased with how everything has worked out for them.

Everyone was extremely helpful when moving my dad from across country and getting him settled in. They helped make the move easier and less stressful. My parents just moved into the Glebe this month, and it has been such a great move for our family. Shelli and the whole team have been wonderful to work with throughout the entire process! Everyone has been so communicative, and staff from across numerous departments have gone out of their way to help my parents settle in and acclimate. The Glebe is such a lovely community, and my family is so grateful to be a part of it!

When I got out of my car the first time I visited The Glebe and heard the birds singing, I stood for a while and soaked in the peace of that music. Walked inside and met smiling faces, not just with the welcoming staff but with residents and other staff as well, everywhere we went on a tour. That experience continues as a resident. The staff are responsive, welcoming, and, yes, smiling as they go about their day. Clearly they enjoy the work they do and understand the Glebe's vision & mission. The Glebe is a community not just in word but in action-- you can hear the din of friends in conversation over dinner and witness it in the way we greet each other, and you can see it in the work of the staff. I"m finding peace of mind ... a welcoming community ... security ... friends ... all mixed in with all the privacy I desire. I"m grateful to be part of this experience and look forward to a full day today.

Recently, we had to move my Mom from assisted living, at The Glebe Retirement Community, to the Chaplick Center for memory care there. The social workers, MIA and Taylor, were so helpful to me during this transition. They took Mom to her new room that day and have checked on her afterwards to make sure she is adjusting okay. I also want to thank the nursing staff in assisted living and in memory care for being there for my Mom and for me during the move. The maintenance team was a great help too. They put a new bed I ordered together for me and helped remove all the trash from cleaning out the old room. The receptionists and activities and exercise coordinators have been great too helping her adjust. Every move has been a challenging transition for my Mom and for me and my sister. I’m so thankful we chose The Glebe for my Mom to live so we have all this support and have people who truly care about her.

My mother has been living at the Glebe for over a year. The peace of mind that comes from knowing she is in a safe, comfortable, well cared for living environment is incredibly important. Her apartment is the perfect design for comfort and the assisted living balance that she needs in this phase of her life. My family and I are grateful for the Glebe and the incredible staff!

I moved to a Glebe apartment 6 months ago, at age 69, telling my family that I wanted to live in a protective cocoon. The Glebe has met all my expectations and there have been no surprises. All of the staff and other residents are very kind and respectful. There must be a dozen activities each day ranging from active to seated, and enriching. There is at least 1 out-trip each week plus shopping trips. Food is available from morning through dinner. The variety is amazing, portions are large, and there are many ways to get food (cafe, formal dining room, to go, delivery, bulk orders). In 2025, there will be additional dining venues. There are frequent, fun pop-up activities and they usually include food. The prettiest room is the Allegheny Dining Room, followed by the swimming pool, both with high, timbered ceilings, and mountain views. The facility is lovely and clean, with traditional styling. The grounds are tended meticulously, including seasonal landscaping. There is a monthly Resident Council meeting and several committees so that resident ideas and questions can be addressed.There is instant access to all staff including the long-serving administrative leadership. The Director holds quarterly Neighborhood meetings and breakfast meetings. Every apartment has access to the outdoors either from a balcony or a patio, which is perfect in a pet-friendly place. The apartments are spacious, updated for each new resident, and house cleaning is done twice/month. Work orders for maintenance are addressed promptly. Transportation is available. I think that The Glebe is a good value - care for life, food for life, activities, Fitness Center, maintenance, housekeeping, utilities. I am pleased with all aspects of life here.

Arrived at The Glebe in Daleville Virginia a bit over 1.5 years ago. First, there have been no surprises. What we were told and shown by marketing has proven true in day to day living. The grounds are beautiful, amenities outstanding, food appealing and tasty, and services from administration to maintenance accommodating and prompt. The Glebe is, quite frankly, amazing. Not only are the apartments and cottages lovely, but the food is first class, and the available activities make me think I'm on a cruise or at a resort! For me, however, the people are the most important aspect of the Glebe. From the staff members in all areas to the friendly and welcoming residents, I could not feel more welcome or more at home. Glebe living is like being at home...just a little bit better!

My wife and I have now lived here for nine months and we are very pleased with our decision. We wanted to move to a retirement community while we were still mobile. Down sizing was the most difficult part of our move, but we are glad it is behind us. We have yet to meet anyone in the hall who does not smile and/or speak. After nine months we feel we made the right move at the right time to the right place.

We have been residing at The Glebe for over three months now. It was a major decision in our life and we have no regrets. The Glebe has a wonderful staff, facility and beautiful setting in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. All the services, activities and amenities are outstanding. Prior to deciding to make The Glebe my future home I researched many retirement communities in the Salem/Roanoke Area and visited The Glebe several times even staying in one of the guest rooms for two nights just to get a "feel" for how I might fit in. I also scheduled my stay to coincide with a Resident Council Meeting and spoke to many of the residents about their living experience there. After much serious thought and discussion with family, I decided that The Glebe would be the best place for me to enjoy the quality of life that I was seeking. Everyone, staff and residents alike, has been warm, welcoming and helpful. My apartment is well situated and nicely designed for my comfort. I look forward to getting to know many of the residents and being involved in many of the offered activities. I'm especially drawn to the swimming pool and exercise space and the well-maintained grounds and the views couldn't be lovelier or safer for walks at any time of day. I would recommend anyone thinking about the difficult decision of leaving their home and dearest memories to consider The Glebe and making new friends and more memories on life's journey.

The greatest gift in this world has been my parents being able to call The Glebe home’. The Glebe has an amazing staff throughout the entire community. My parents have enjoyed every level of care offered at the Continuing Care Retirement Community ( with the exception of memory care ). They offer the best dining in the greater Roanoke/ Daleville area . Attention is given to every little detail making it a a true life of luxury. There’s so many things to do to please anyone’s interests. Best of all, it’s a great place for my family to visit. The beautiful setting cannot be matched anywhere. Words cannot express how amazing it is- it must be experienced.

My husband and I moved into the Glebe just about a year ago, and could not be happier with that decision. The facility is beautiful,the services are excellent, and there are opportunities for activities to suit just about anyone. We are very pleased with the entire continuing care concept, and have seen personally how well residents are taken care of when they need higher levels of care. Other residents have been warmly welcoming and friendly, providing a real sense of community. Staff and management are consistently exceptional, always going out of their way to make sure the Glebe feels like home to residents. They are quickly responsive to any needs that arise, and truly caring toward residents. The Glebe is a wonderful choice for anyone ready to have a little more care while remaining independent, and who wants the assurance of knowing the higher levels of care are there when you need them. I highly recommend the Glebe.

The Glebe is probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. My only regret is that I did not do this more quickly. The building and apartment is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. Activities are diverse with something for everyone regardless of physical ability. The staff is wonderful and are at hand when you need anything. Banking is offered and mail is in house so no need to go out of your way. The building is large enough to walk when weather is not good. An in house exercise room, salt water pool, hot tub add to the numerous attributes here at the Glebe. During the summer, my wife and I, enjoyed riding our electric bikes on campus, participated in some of the festivities such as music, wine festival, antique car show, birthday and anniversary parties, there is even a wood working shop on campus. You can have a simple pleasure of a movie night. You can do planned trips that the Glebe offers or you can use their transportation to go to doctor, dental or just grocery shopping. Your health care is very important here at the Glebe. Just yesterday we received our monitoring watches which give out our vitals. There is a clinic on campus and there are plans which you can choose from for further healt benifit if need be. Also there is independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation unit and memory care here. The Glebe has multitudes of exercises for the mind and body. If you are procrastinating about coming to the Glebe then all I can say you are missing out. Don't wait till your health is so bad you can't utilize the many great benefits of living here at the Glebe. I hope to see you as a neighbor and part of the family here. Rick Puckett

Moving to the Glebe with all of its amazing facilities and extraordinarily friendly Staff and Residents was a perfect decision. We have been welcomed beyond imagination! Having been on the staff of a Retirement Center and, later, volunteered many additional years in local Assisted Living facilities I had an understanding of what to look for in a place where I'd like to retire. The Glebe checked all the boxes. First thing I noticed was that everyone living here is so welcoming and happy. The staff are very caring and approachable individuals. They establish real bonds with each resident which makes one feel as if one is living in a multi-generational family. The views from the Glebe are of spectacular mountain vistas. The apartment is beautiful with all high end appliances and kind people who maintain it for me. I personally enjoy the flower beds and lovely landscaping. I love to eat. The variety of the entrees does not disappoint. There is an ambiance artfully maintained in the dining room which I look forward to daily. Naturally, fitness is just as important so the fitness room exercise opportunities are numerous. There's a whole umbrella of activities available to the adventurous and cozy places for individuals who prefer a quieter type of relaxation. Most importantly, when in need of medical care, whether immediate or long term, the staff can respond to every eventuality.

(previous locations include New York City, Kinderhook Lake in the Adirondacks in upstate New York, Smith Mountain Lake) Always happy and fulfilled throughout all my working and retirement years, I find myself now totally immersed into the beauty of life in my "golden years." Truly I cannot enumerate all my blessings. Oh, why do some retirees speak of "giving up" the past (house, activities, etc.) when one GAINS and experiences a freedom and INDEPENDENCE unimaginable when faced with the challenges of home ownership with all its responsibilities?!? Believe it or not, I now swim more year 'round, and can enjoy ANY past activity plus many NEW activities, thus making new friends, (an eclectic, loving, ecumenical group from all over the world) with more freedom and no worry. If you wish, you may continue doing anything you have done in the past (e.g. my piano ensemble performing group started in 1974 in N.Y., continued at Sm. Mt. Lake, is now in its 17th year at the Glebe - for a total of 49 years SO FAR) Volunteer opportunities abound here at The Glebe and in the surrounding community with what I term "selfish" rewards. People want to know how to be happy. I say Happiness "happens" when one gives of oneself. Yes, it all comes back! Living and Giving at The Glebe - the closest thing to paradise one could imagine.

Recently, my wife and I paid a visit to The Glebe to spend time with a family member. We were very pleased with our lovely, spotless room and found everyone--both staff and residents--to be the the friendliest and most helpful of people. We wanted to make special mention of Rose, who was tending the front desk. She was especially helpful, giving us detailed directions and pertinent information in a most pleasant manner. The Glebe is an excellent community with tastefully constructed buildings and beautiful surroundings. Best of all, it is filled with wonderful people! Victor and Carla
