My MIL has been at CDL @ Cedar Manor since Feb 2024. We have nothing but great things to say. Each staff person that we've interacted with has been terrific. The food is plentiful and delicious. If your loved one is bored, it is because they don't want to participated. There activities all day, every day. We could not be more pleased

I have no complaints. The facility is well kept.
July 2024
At the end of a busy day making rounds it was great to see snacks on hand for guest, the room temp was comfortable, reception area looks inviting, elevators well kept. I like the idea of windows at the dining area as no one is isolated and can be observed. The same applies to the guest and meeting rooms.

In entering the facility, it was clean and the people were friendly. I went to my friend's room and she was in bed ( in the middle of the afternoon!). She said she was in a lot of pain today and hadn't been able to eat very much today, due to her pain. I'm concerned that she is not getting her pain medication as often as she should, or, she is not getting the strong stuff that has been prescribed to her for her pain. The housekeeper came in with her clean clothes and put them away for her. She was very friendly and personable. Later on she rang for someone to come in and change her diapers. They did this in a timely fashion, which I greatly appreciated! My overall impression of this facility is very good ( especially compared to the previous place she was in).

The staff is always helpful and friendly. The maintenance of all spaces is excellent. The concern for resident well-being is excellent.

Love this place. I have witnessed happy, caring and genuine concern for the sweet memories residents from every employee. They know how to talk to them to make them laugh or distract them to ward off an outburst. So happy my 93yr old Grammy is here. They offer so many different activities. Holiday celebrations, puzzles, various games, paint nails, crafts, garden gazebo, etc.

It was very clean. The staff checked in often to see if the client needed anything. It was a very comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. I would be at ease if my family was there

My mother-in-law enjoys living here. The food is very good, and there are a lot of activities. The employees are very friendly, and some go out of their way to be kind. I would like for her to have faster responses when she uses her call button, and there was a medical issue this week that I felt should have been addressed more urgently.

The facility here at Cedar Manor is wonderful. Both my parents had been residents here and after my father passed in February my mother remained on having to deal with dementia and the staff here cares for her very very well. It does have a very caring and family oriented feel to it.

Very clean. Could not find a nurse on premises. Med tech did not know who doctor of facility was.called out for something that a nurse in facility could have resolved if there was one.

This community is just lovely. In my healthcare provider role I visit quite often and have gotten to know the staff and several residents very well. They do their best to keep residents active and engaged. The renovations are beautiful and the warm, inviting environment makes it feel like home. I always enjoy my visits to Cedar Manor.

Really nice family night tonight!!!
August 2023
Mom is settling in and my concerns have been remedied in a safe and respectful manner. She feels secure. There are daily activities and wonderful meals. The staff and attendants go out if their to meet the residents needs. Thank you! Old review I wanted to update: My mother, 99, has been in this facility for one month. It's clean, pretty and staff is upbeat and mostly helpful when asked. Here's the overall experience and it's been snakebite at best. The check in interview with director was rushed and she kept checking her watch as though she had more important places to be. Barely got paperwork completed and she was gone. No sit down with nurses to understand mom's day to day patterns, worries, etc. no invite to eat, though it was lunchtime. An initial evaluation took place prior to moving in to determine the level of care and because she's healthy and slightly mobile they evaluated her as a Level 1. I called later to confirm that and spoke with sales to confirm. When sheets were not changed after 3 weeks, I spoke with 'station' who wrote her name down but said it's mostly for the residents who have assisted bath days. They were sorry for misunderstanding but..... my Mom changed her own sheets remarkably, yesterday, a month into her stay. Medication management: They 'misread' the dosage on a thyroid med and had been giving her 1/3 the required. I wouldn't have known had I not brought her home for an overnight. They argued with me then later shrugged off as human error. They never called to clarify with Dr. But early on they did search her room aggressively for any otc meds. She hadn't been feeling well and I know why now. It's been corrected by me, not staff. They've never helped her to dining room so she eats when she has the strength to maneuver down. Repeated requests to qualify to use her electric cart which is on site, are ignored. Lastly, I've just received the first invoice and they have moved her care level up without notifying me so again I have to chase down an explanation. Communication is very poor with management to myself.

January 2022
Cedar Manor has been a blessing. Over a year ago, my dad and I went looking at memory care facilities for my mom. I had done much research and dad and I visited 2 places. Dad had pancreatic cancer and caring for mom was too much for him and I. I work a full time job. We decided on Cedar Manor for a few reasons. At the time, the facility was under renovation but we took a tour and has a long conversation with the Executive Director Sarah. I was really happy that she was willing to come in on a Saturday and meet with us, accommodating me because of my work schedule. She spent several hours talking to us, Answering all our questions and giving us all the information we needed. Even though we were looking for a place for mom I found it very refreshing that the focus was on my mother but they showed my dad and I that they cared about us and our well being also, even though we were not they ones moving in They"treat the whole family"... they care for the resident, but they also care for the family. Long story short, my mom went into the facility. My dad was now home alone while I worked and I worried.....shortly after that my dad started getting really sick and needed more care. After a long conversation with dad and getting more information from Sarah, we as a family decided that dad would go there so that he could be cared for and be with mom for as long as he had. My dad was on hospice. The staff took excellent care of him and mom. They were very kind and considerate to me & my brother. They had struggles during Covid, lockdown and all, but through it all, both my parents were taken care of and had the care they needed. They worked with me to make sure the proper care was given. They are all very kind, caring there. My dad has passed and mom is living there thriving. She can enjoy the activities she wants, they have family night with entertainment which is nice. They serve nutritious meals. They even grow their own herbs and other things used for the meals. I can go to work and know my mom is safe and well cared for. It is a nice feeling. We continue to work together, communicate , to keep the best plan of care for mom . If you are looking for a place for your loved one who can no longer care for their self at home I would take time to visit and have a conversation to learn more. Unfortunately, most elderly would love to stay in their home, but most of the time it just isn't the best thing. Its tough when a loved one doesn't want to leave their home. You need to look at the whole picture and do what's best.
July 2021
Caring, friendly, compassionate professionals at every level.
February 2021
Cedar manor is fantastic. When I called them on a Tuesday evening to ask if they had any space for a relative who had unexpectedly popped up and needed hospice care, they moved mountains to move him in the next day. I dropped off all the paper work on Wednesday at lunch time and all 4 of the front desk ladies stopped what they were doing to help me and facilitate the process faster. On move in day everyone was very empathetic and compassionate with my relative and came by his room to introduce themselves. As a medical professional, I can see this place takes pride in the care of their residents. As my relative is on hospice, they extremely accommodating not to just his needs, but also the entire familys needs. I cannot speak highly enough of Cedar Manor and the staff.

The staff at Cedar Manor is amazing. They tirelessly make sure that each and every resident is not only taken care of mentally and physically but treated with respect at all times. There are multitudes of activities for the residents. The laundry is well organized and laundry always returns to the correct people!! The food is great and the residents can have seconds and thirds should they require it and ask for it!! The facility is well maintained and always looks lovely. We wander in and out as we please and as we need. I could go on and on. I hope Im as well taken care of when I reach That stage of life.

Mom was a resident for almost five years. Great people caring for her.
October 2017
If you are looking for a kind and loving environment for your loved one in Chesapeake, you have found the place, look no further. My parents moved to Cedar Manor three years ago. My mother was in the end stages of Alzheimers disease and the burden of trying to care for her was taking a toll on my Dads health. It was a very tough decision for the family to move them out of their beautiful home of so many years but it was time. The team at Cedar Manor absolutely held our hand through this very difficult transition. To be able to put my head on my pillow each night and know that my parents were safe and had very kind, loving people surrounding them each day was a true gift. Once you walk through the door of Cedar Manor, you will see it is not like any other assisted living facility. There is a great sense of family there.
March 2017
All the staff, from the nursing to the facilities to the dining room/nutritional staff, go above and beyond for the residents at Cedar Manor. They have taken my grandmother on last-minute crucial trips to the doctor and the nursing staff cared continuously overnight for her during an illness. We've been extremely pleased... Cedar Manor is like extended family.
