A very great establishment to work for. Heatherwood offers many great opportunities to advance within the company. What i love about heatherwood is that. We not only work hard keeping our patients happy and smiling . But as employees we treat each other with love. My father lived at Heatherwood for 15 months, arriving just prior to the Covid shutdowns. The activities schedule was full of interesting and exciting offerings, the exercise machines were soon to be available in a dedicated room...so much to do for social and physical engagement. Understandably, Heatherwood locked down tight once Covid hit and policies were established to keep residents safe. I have nothing but good things to say about Heatherwood. The apartments are very clean and roomy with plenty of storage, and contain a full kitchen. Every staff member I engaged with was helpful and courteous... not insignificant given the times we were in. There has been a recent changeover in Executive Director, and both individuals were attentive to my family's concerns and questions, and engaged with residents. Dad's medical appointments and needs were well coordinated by the staff there. Extra therapies (speech) were suggested and tips for the family were given. I can't thank everyone individually who cared for my Dad, but my sisters and I all felt that he was well cared for at Heatherwood. He moved recently to be near family, but I would not hesitate to recommend Heatherwood as a facility for a loved one.

As a long term employee of Heatherwood, I can certainly attest to the fact that we are all very proud of our community. It is great to see, for example, a new employee who turns into a long term employee. With so much turnover in other companies, we at Heatherwood and RUI in specific remain very low due in part to a great benefit package that we offer for both FT and PT staff and the knowledge in knowing that RUI is a family owned and operated company in Virginia for thirty five plus years. I encourage anyone who may be out there looking for employment to stop by our Community to discover what opportunities we may be able to offer to you .

Heatherwood is a beautiful community. I went to their grand re-opening and saw their beautiful renovations. They have a wonderful reputation in the Burke area and after visiting I saw why. The staff was amazing interacting with the residents and the families. You could tell residents were so happy and love calling Heatherwood their home. I attended the Holiday party and was extremely impressed. The attention to detail was amazing. A string quartet, ice sculpture with shrimp cocktail, drinks and lots of love all around. The environment is always so warm and caring. If the need is there i would highly recomend this community

I have heard so many great things about this community! They offer 24 hour nursing care, which is awesome most communities have someone on call. The residents all look so happy to live there and are so active with all the exciting activities in their Life Enrichment Program.

Heatherwood is an upscale community which offers great amenities, activities and amazing food for its residents. Its also unique in as it offers RUI University - which partners with local experts and colleges to offer education topics to our residents- which is a great compliment to its already abundant activities schedule. Heatherwood is a thriving community! When you enter you feel so welcome by the concierge and the active residents!! The Director of Nursing and caregivers are visible, approachable and always helpful. The food is great too! Alissa, from Sales and Marketing has a strong knowledge in the Senior Industry and about Heatherwood. She is also very organized when hosting professional groups. Thanks for the expanded parking lot!! Makes visiting easier!

My father-in-law has been living at Heatherwood for a year and half since his wife passed away. It was a big adjustment for him (coming from a single family home in Sterling) and he suffers from slight dementia. Heatherwood has been awesome, a very caring group of people. It didn't take him long to feel at home. He prefers the comfort of the lobby over his cozy but lonely apartment. He likes to watch the comings and goings at Heatherwood. They have lots of activities (from bingo to movies to bringing in local entertainment) and they always encourage him to attend them. He does many of them and even remembers a few of them. They have a wide variety of weekly outings, too, like boat rides and local concerts, they go fishing and picnic at Burke Lake. I am so happy to see him engaged with others, even if he doesn't remember many names. Heatherwood is a perfect choice for him. I love that he has his independence but is never really alone.

Several friends recommended Heatherwood to us when we were looking for a safe place for our Mom. We anticipated a difficult transition but were delightfully surprised by the family feel from all the staff - from the receptionist at the front desk to maintenance. Modifications to mom's apartment were made to make day to day living easier. She has friends she calls by name - she participates in daily activities and especially enjoys Bible study! To know she is being well cared for brings such a peace of mind. Every resident wears a beeper to call for help. Staff must be by her side to turn the notification off so attention comes promptly! We LOVE that Heatherwood is a smaller facility - if feels very much like a community to my mom. A wonderful physician visits weekly - seeing many patients and my mom loves that he is so accessible to her! I wish I could give them 6 stars! Hands down we would make the same decision again!

I met with the Director of Community Relations, Alissa, today and was so impressed by her genuine willingness to listen and offer assistance. She is very knowledgeable of the senior industry and able to personalize our conversation to meet all my needs. As we toured the community, she actively engaged with every resident we passed and addressed each one by name. I also observed other staff members exhibiting similar interaction and engagement and everyone appeared to be upbeat and happy to be at Heatherwood, especially the residents! The community has a charm all its own and a way of making you feel at home from the moment you walk in the door. This dynamic takes years in the making and a staff of vested, caring individuals who dedicate themselves to ensuring seniors are treated with the dignity and love. Kudos, Heatherwood!

It was a pleasure to be given a tour by Heatherwood Director fo Community Relations Alissa Schroeder! I most enjoyed learning about the Heatherwood community, meeting their residents and exploring how they administer care. The tour was informative and fun. I am most impressed by the level of care that Heatherwood provides its residents and the quality of services offered, especially the theater and the seemingly delectable restaurant-style menu. Additionally, the model room shown was stunning and spacious. The safety features inside the restroom ensure that residents are secure while bathing and showering. After my tour, I thought about how I would entrust Heatherwood to care for my own aging grandparents. I have supreme confidence in the community. On a personal note, I found Alissa's professionalism to be refreshing. She took the time to introduce me their nursing staff and residents and she made me feel that my time was valuable. Her passion and energy are transparent.

My mother and my family toured a number of Assisted Living Facilities in NoVA before selecting Heatherwood. We loved it the minute we walked in. Heatherwood has a very special "hometown" friendly feel where everyone treats you like family and knows your name. Heatherwood's common areas, as well as resident apartments, are beautiful and well maintained. They even have an art-deco movie theater and a pub for watching sports events and whatnot! The Food is great, the Activities Team always has fun and stimulating daily activities planned (today included a trip to MGM Casino). ...and they know how to throw some GREAT parties and celebrations for the annual holidays! But it is not the beautiful facilities and rooms and parties that set Heatherwood above its competitors. It is the staff. After 4 years, we have come to know the Heatherwood staff very well. There is very little turnover, and the care, positivity and compassion of the entire staff is exceptional. The nursing and health care team is particularly noteworthy. They are keen to the health of each resident and care for them as they would care for their own parents. More than once Michelle Edwards (DDir of Nursing), along with the team of nurses and health technicians, have come to our rescue with an accurate diagnosis of a health issue and have seen my Mom's treatment successfully through. Heatherwood also has a SUPERB medical doctor affiliated with Heatherwood, who has a private exam room on site so he can host weekly appointments with residents.. It is also important to note the safety and security that Heatherwood offers. The Administrator, Bryan LaMartin, along with Mike Suchar (Dir. of Environmental Services), have overseen numerous facility improvements, notably the expansion of a full building generator, providing electricity to every residents' room to secure their health and well-being during the inevitable power outages that occur during inclement weather. Bryan and his team also installed a call button pendant system for residents to wear around their necks in case they need a nurse or technician for assistance in their apartment, or anywhere else in the Heatherwood facility. It's pretty amazing. We have and continue to recommend Heatherwood to all of our friends and co-workers. The transition of our parents from independence to dependence is a difficult one, but the staff at Heatherwood has unfailingly done everything imaginable to make the transition easy and problem free. The commitment of each and every Heatherwood team member to create the safest, most comfortable and happy community is unmatched in my family's opinion. They each exemplify highest standards of excellence and professionalism.

I have been working at Heatherwood and Aarondale for about a month now. I chose to work here after reading several reviews of how wonderful the staff and residents were and also about how amazing the care was. I couldn't agree more. The compassion of the staff at both communities is amazing. They go above and beyond and you can truly tell how much they care for the residents. Working with seniors is my passion and I love seeing that same passion in the staff.

My family recently attended the Heatherwood Holiday party and we had a wonderful evening! The food was delicious and plentiful. I have to say that the staff went out of their way to really make it a festive celebration for the residents and their guests. The musical entertainment was great and of course no holiday party would be complete without a visit with Santa! We were the guests of a wonderful gentleman who has adopted our family (and we've adopted him right back!) We have visited him many times at Heatherwood these past few years and the staff has always been friendly and caring. It warms my heart to see the affection and concern shown to each resident. Thank you for a wonderful party and for providing such a supportive and caring environment for your residents!
