In addition to being a beautiful place. what I noticed most when I toured Sunrise was that the staff and residents were happy, which means a lot. When my mother went into Sunrise from a rehab center, she couldn’t even stand on her own without falling. After only a month, she is walking now with a walker and doesn’t need her wheelchair except for when she is really tired. She is on the memory-care floor, but after a month of being there, she is definitely more alert and interacts with people more. I am amazed at the genuine concern and individual care the staff provides (even little things like knowing my mother likes her coffee black and doesn’t like oatmeal). I come from out of state and stay overnight for a few days as often as I can, and I look forward to going there! I don’t think I could find a better care facility for my mother than Sunrise. It has really eased my stress level knowing that my mother is safe and truly cared about at Sunrise.

The staff at sunrise of Alexandria are like family to each other and to the residents, and also to the family of the residents. My mother is a resident of the memory care facility and she has been treated with a lot of care, respect and patience. I don’t worry about her safety whatsoever and she has many opportunities of socialize, which makes her happy. The rooms and common areas are always clean and although everyone works very hard at their job, everyone has a smile to greet you. Also their brunches are outstanding! I’m very glad I found this facility. It suits my mother extremely well.

As a seasoned home health nurse, I have been to more Assisted Livings in NOVA area than I can count. I can tell you this is hands down my favorite, for many reasons. First, it’s small community which gives it s more home like feeling which is so important when someone is transitioning from their home to an assisted living environment. Second, the activities department is phenomenal. They are always doing something fun, and entertaining for the residents. Not just outings but parties and events inside the building for those who might not be able to get out. Lastly, and most importantly, the staff is top notch. Some of the staff have been there for years, and the residents become their family. They’re very attentive and go above and beyond for the residents. I would call out a few of my favorites, but I’m afraid I might forget someone, and they are all truly exceptional. Their work comes from the heart.

Having recently partnered with Sunrise of Alexandria as a Home Health Physical Therapist, I truly feel like I have found my professional home here! This community is amazing”small enough that I get to know everyone, and the residents are always happy and friendly. The whole place has a wonderful sense of community, with fun and engaging activities for everyone. The entire team, from the Executive Director and Wellness Nurse down to the caregivers, is stellar. They are super welcoming, highly approachable, and take suggestions seriously, responding quickly to ensure the best care. They genuinely care for their residents, and it shows! I love providing care alongside this wonderful, dedicated team, and I would absolutely send one of my own parents here. Highly recommend them!

Arin Burrell-Duru and her staff are caring, dedicated, and knowledgeable senior advocates and the needs of their residents are truly at the heart of what they do.

I spent seven months at Sunrise Alexandria after experiencing a horrible accident in which I broke my hip femur shoulder and shin bone . During the first six months of my recovery, I lived in healthcare Hell what I call American Hell Care. When I arrived at Sunrise of Alexandria, all that changed, I had access to management right down the hall the nursing staff and the med tech staff were very efficient and I established relationships with the nursing staff, mainly from Africa and Ethiopia people from all over the world . In contrast to where I was before, I was living in a place that expressed empathy and kindness. They were activities. The activities manager was fantastic and food was very good utmost care and classiness was expressed to me throughout my stay. Sunrise has a business model for all facilities that reflects in my opinion the best of American healthcare. It is a little bit expensive and I could barely afford it, but I had to stay there. I bow down in gratefulness to Arin and all her staff in a corporate culture that was very comforting and helpful in my recovery from a disastrous injury.

This community is so welcoming! From the minute you take a tour with Lucy, you can feel that the staff really cares. Arin, the Executive Director is very engaged with her residents and families - always approachable and quick to respond. Kendall, who run all the activities for the community, is so warm and loving. All around the community just shines, and is a great home for our loved ones.

Two visits to this Sunrise Alexandria location proved its positive energy and inclusive community impression was not a fluke. The site is active and inviting”busy with residents and hugely friendly staff. The atmosphere is airy, bright, and homey, with several community spaces for different activities, like coffee conversations, reading, group exercising, therapies, and any number of their many inventive activities that crowd the daily calendar. It's a wonderful place, so if you are seriously looking for elder care or senior living options, a visit is totally worth it.

During a recent visit to Sunrise, I was delighted to witness the residents actively participating in a multitude of engaging activities, and it was truly heartwarming to see them thoroughly enjoy themselves. The staff there were super friendly and always had a smile on their faces. They were genuinely caring for the residents. I want to capture a few words of reflection and thanks for the excellent care provided to my sister during her 5-year stay at Sunrise of Alexandria. I am amazed and grateful that my sister is able to call this exceptional place home. The staff is uniformly excellent, from the administrative personnel to the maintenance staff to the care providers who are a tremendous help on an ongoing basis. While encouraging my sister to accept help, the staff also respects her decisions about what to do and what not to do and actively champions her right to make autonomous decisions. My sister is having fun most every day with her many friends and she often tells me she appreciates living at Sunrise of Alexandria. I have spoken highly of Sunrise of Alexandria to many of my friends and acquaintances in the community and will continue to do so.

We toured Sunrise Alexandria recently. Although we selected another Sunrise community, that decision was based primarily on location to family members to facilitate visits. We found the staff to be attentive, friendly and considerate; they were extremely accommodating and patient as we changed our appointment date and then the time of our arrival. The facility was conveniently located other services and was well appointed and maintained. I would strongly recommend Sunrise Alexandria to any family looking for an assisted care community in this area.

This facility is tops in my book!!! My Dad was treated with the best care possible. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, with updated furnishings. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating they would call me any time of day or night with updates on his care. I was always received with a warm and professional greeting when visiting the property. They should conduct trainings on how to care for your loved ones and treat families to all the facilities in the Metro area!!! The Executive Director, Emily Apyan always went above and beyond the call of duty. She would take my questions any time of day or night. She extended herself far above my expectations. Our relationship has continued although my Dad is no longer with us. I am so very grateful that my Dad spent his last days in this top notch facility. They took such wonderful care of him and treated him like family. Words cannot express my sincere thanks to Emily and her entire team. I highly recommend Sunrise of Alexandria to everyone who loves and cares about their loved one! Our family is extremely thankful and appreciative of the experience.

I love the place where I live! So what if I am 42 years young living with seniors or old people? We are all human and have the right to live in a place of love, happiness, joy, and of course I think the first place to have rubber ducks (My Quackie family) as friends. I love helping with activities! The more involved with Sunrise I get, the more happier I get! Sunrise of Alexandria is awesome! If we keep our residents happy, I will keep myself happy as well!
