We just moved my mom in a few days ago from another highly rated different assisted-living facility. The difference is night and day for the better. The care level has been off the charts and the staff is warm, helpful and loving. There is a personal approach that was lacking at the other facility. The CNA’s are also amazing- they are so friendly and helpful… they take the time to answer questions and they go above and beyond. We are so happy to have found Sunridge.

When we couldn’t care for him anymore as a family, we decided to place him in assisted living care and it was difficult at first because we didn’t think anyone couldn’t for him like we could. However, we are so impressed with the love and care the staff show him and he is so happy too. They have exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone needed the extra help and support for a loved one.

We feel so lucky to have my father living in Sun Ridge Layton Memory Care. As any caregiver of someone with dementia knows, it is extremely difficult to care for your loved one at home due to agitation, wandering or any number of reasons and when we came to the hard decision to move my father to memory care Sun Ridge was our first choice after touring MANY facilities. After observing for several months I have seen nothing but kindness and respect to all the residents, even when the residents aren’t in agreeable moods. Their dignity is always respected in every way. The memory care activities director has an amazing full schedule of daily activities that she adjusts to each residents abilities. When my father was new she asked about his hobbies and interests and included things he would enjoy in their daily activities, which was so touching to us. The kitchen is always happily willing to make him a special meal when he needs one. All the people working in memory care (director, med techs, CNA’s and even the cleaning staff) are unbelievably kind and gentle with the special residents in their care. As someone who is extremely protective of my father I would whole heartedly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a safe, happy, kind and loving home for their family member.

The care here goes far beyond the basics. Every team member we have met is kind, patient, and genuinely invested in the well being of the residents. What stands out the most is how they treat my dad like a person, not just a resident. They take time to talk with him, learn his preferences, and make sure he feels included and respected. It gives our whole family peace of mind knowing he is not only safe, but also happy and cared for on a daily basis. The facility itself is clean, welcoming, and well maintained. We recently moved my family member to this facility after leaving one in Farmington. The difference has been night and day! We are so happy with Sunridge! Here's my advice in helping decide which facility is best: 1. Meet the Administrator. I've seen the negative impact of an Administrator that only cares about money. Go meet with Jakob and Terry - the first thing you'll notice is how much they love and advocate for the residents in their facility. I had no idea how impactful this would be on our family member's experience in a facility - this should be top of your list. 2. Do they use Agency staffing? Our last facility did and the ability for our family member to receive continuity of care and in building a rapport with caregivers was greatly hindered. Sunridge has their own staff which allows them to get to know your loved one well and improves the ability to better meet their needs. 3. Does the facility post the Ombudsman information in their facility in a high-traffic area? Sunridge has their posted in a main hallway. Our last facility had it tucked away in a back hallway. The fact that Sunridge has posted next to that the Administrator and staff's contact information tells you everything you need to know about the value they know they bring to their residents. In our last facility, good luck finding the Administrator anywhere in the building let alone visiting and interacting with the residents. I've seen Jakob doing this multiple times in the few weeks we've been at Sunridge and it speaks volumes about the type of leadership and culture in his facility. This is a tough chapter to navigate as a family. I highly recommend taking time to visit the facilities - especially on the weekend. Seeing how calm (or chaotic) the facility is on the weekend will give you a really good idea of the level of consistent care you can expect from that facility. I've been so impressed by the staff at Sunridge so far!

With both parents needing assistance and memory care, it was so important to find a place that was not only nearby family members, but also loving and caring. The new management have made many wonderful improvements and even asked for suggestions which they actually acted upon. I would highly recommend Sunridge Assisted Living if you are looking for an inviting, comfortable, place to live and staff who genuinely care for their tenants and your loved ones. We were looking for a place for my husband to stay. He is 42 and has progressive MS. He is declining both mentally and physically. Brandon, the administrator at Sunridge, made it all possible for my husband to come live there. He literally performed a miracle not only for my husband but for our family as well. Having my husband at Sunridge has allowed me to be the wife again and our kids to be kids again rather than caregivers. It has also allowed my husband the proper medical attention he needs. We love taking care of him but this has been a miracle for our family and allows us to spend quality time with my husband as well as gets my husband the proper care he is in need of. The staff has been so great to work with and has done a great job at taking care of my husband.

We have made 3 visits to Sunridge and find it to be a great location, a place staffed by very friendly and openly caring people, and a very comfortable facility. I am a home care nurse and have worked with many assisted living facilities. When it came time to place my grandma in a facility, we wanted somewhere close to family, but also the best care possible for her. I knew Sunridge was the place and they have not disappointed! They went above and beyond on all counts, even picking her up an hour away. They made her feel welcome and right at home and have taken excellent care of her. From administrative staff, the nurse and the aides, she has been well taken care of. She has loved the food. It is clean and organized and I can sleep well at night knowing she is being well taken care of and I have very high standards for this woman I love with all my heart, so thank you Sunridge!

My parents have been residents of Sunridge Layton for the past year. We have been pleased with communication with administration and nursing staff to make sure their needs are being met. When we've had a situation arise regarding medical, nutrition and service requests, the staff have promptly replied. In general, staff are receptive to the needs of our parents and do their best to help them with daily needs. The demands are high on staff and we appreciate the willingness of everyone to see that my parents are well taken care of. In addition to assisting with daily care, Sunridge provides several opportunities where residents can socialize; have new and exciting experiences such as concerts, parties, eating out and scenic drives; and celebrate with family members during holiday festivities. I have to say, I was really skeptical about putting my mom in a place like this. Just from things that I've heard from people. But like they say, you can't judge a book by its cover. My mom's in here due to health reasons in the memory care part. I can't tell you how great this place is. They've done an outstanding job taking care of my mom, there's things that they've done I can't even begin to describe. The nurses are so good with my mom as well with other residents. They have a really good structured program for activities. So the residents are constantly doing something. The place is extremely well kept, it looks like it's a fairly new building as well. It's super close to Layton Hospital so if something were to happen to a resident, the hospital is right there. If you have a loved one that is in need of a facility like this. I can tell you first-hand this is a place you would want them to be. They will be very well taken care of. With how well they've been taking care of my mom, and just some of the things they've done for my mom. It's a good reminder that kindness still exist in this world. You just have to look in the right places.

Making the decision to move any loved ones into an assisted living facility or memory care unit is difficult! Really, one of the most difficult experiences a family faces. Most times, the decision is made to late in life and the parent or grandparent has lost their ability to connect to new surroundings. This alone heightens the challenge we face! Moving my mom into another facility first put my mom in the hospital as their care was less than appropriate. I feel it important to add my mom has advanced dementia and has a difficult personality! We finally found Sundridge Assisted Living in Layton (SAL), moving mom into their memory care unit first. Memory care has a higher ratio between caregivers and residents, which we felt was needed after our last experience. All the staff was so kind and caring. So many employees would visit my mom regularly, welcoming her into her new home. My mom felt important, appreciated, and cared for! They graciously spent hours 'chatting' with her and getting to know her! When the time came and mom felt better and secure, we moved her into the assisted living side and she continues to blossom. She was introduced to the residents, invited to activities, and invited and escorted to meals. The staff works WITH me to create the best experience for mom. They not only serve my mom, but they also served me! I give SAL a high recommendation for anyone!

My mother has been in the facility for a couple of weeks and I couldn't be more thrilled with the care she has been given. The aides have been so kind and as the former caregiver they are my angels. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. I love that everyone calls each other by their first names. My mother has been Grandma for so long and all of sudden she feels like a real person again. She is trying harder to be independent because she sees what others can do. I love Sunridge of Layton!

Can’t say enough good about this facility and especially about the management and staff. It’s brand new and filling up rather quickly. The personal attention and personal touch of all who work there has made almost all the difference for my aged parents who have been treated so well. I say, “almost all the difference” because the other huge factor in making such a favorable impact on my parents is the food—they are so impressed with the quality, the variety and the choices (alternate menu choices if the main dish is not their favorite). Brandon, the facility manager, even cooked breakfast many times for the early residents after the facility opened. And Jason, the marketing director, goes out of his way to help residents and is always cheerful, helpful and outgoingly friendly. Laura, the activity director, keeps the event calendar full of opportunities for the resident to stay active and involved. Yep, my parents (veterans of several other facilities) are happy here and that makes the extended family happy too. I highly recommend Sunridge of Layton.

We moved both of my parents into Sunridge on opening day. The staff is friendly and they even helped us carry in their furniture and clothes. Every concern we had has been answered quickly and kindly. Jason bought dinner for my parents before they even moved in and brought it to them. Who does that? The rooms are beautiful and big. The most fabulous thing though is the food. My parents both give it a thumbs up! They have been in 3 different facilities since last June and we have had to bring in food to them several times a week. Hallelujah! Problem solved. Now we just take them out to eat for fun once in a while.
