As a hospice social worker, I have cared for many patients at Shepherd Personal Care Home. The home is always warm and welcoming. The environment is clean and the staff take excellent care of the residents. The owner Liz, is involved and engaged with all aspects of care of the residents and their families. I never hesitate to refer a family to Shepherd. I only wish there were more personal care homes like Shepherd.

My mother in law is currently in the care of Shepherd Personal Care home and has been residing there for 10 months. I am a nurse myself and her medical power of attorney. I can personally say that I would recommend this PCH above any other residential health facility. Liz, the owner is very involved in the day to day care of the patients and communication is excellent. My mother in law has had several health issues and Liz and her staff are very attentive and on top of things. She has had very good home cooked meals and gets a bath every day. She came into their care from a skilled nursing facility with surgical wounds and pressure sores. I am a wound care nurse and was allowed to treat the wounds myself (that was my request). With their help, the pressure wounds were resolved quickly and no skin issues have occurred in their care. If you are looking for placement of your loved ones, look no farther.

Shepherd Personal Care Home, and Liz along with her amazing staff, have truly been a godsend. My father was a resident there, and they treated him like their own family. We had moved him from a larger facility where even his basic needs weren’t being met, and the difference was night and day. Liz took such wonderful care of my dad that he would tell her, Thank you for treating me like a human. She truly treated him like her own father. He genuinely loved being there and cherished Liz and the staff. I cannot thank Liz and her team enough for the care they gave my father and for the unwavering support they offered my family and I. I will be forever grateful.

My mother has a form of vascular dementia and has been at Shepherd Personal Care home since October of 2025. The owner and staff take great care of her. They individualize mom's care and do "extra things" so that she feels loved. I feel blessed to have found this home for mom!

A sky-full of stars for Liz and Shepherd Personal Care Home! The place is a residence converted to a care home. It’s homey, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Owner Elizabeth Joseph (Liz) is there most of the time and available by phone or text 24/7. Really. She ALWAYS responds immediately. Liz handles absolutely everything, including wrangling hospice services to do their jobs and, in our case, changing hospice services. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and efficient about everything that must happen in a hospice situation. She was caring and kind to my husband, our kids, his brother, and me throughout those last days and even checked up on us after it ended. During my husband’s time there she sent us all updates on his condition every day and often more often than that. She’s not a nurse, but after her 15+ years of experience is more knowledgable about end of life care than many of them. She can and does all the things a nurse can do ” except order meds. Her staff has been with Shepherd for many years and someone is always there 24/7. Highly recommended!

My father spent his hospice, and ultimately passed away, at Shepherd. Liz and her team gave him comfort and dignity while they cared for him. It’s a small place with only 5 or 6 rooms for patients so each person is provided with expert care. But above the care, Liz provided compassion to our family and kept us up to date with morning and evening reports. I can’t recommend Liz and her team enough.

What a blessing Liz and her caregivers are. Shepherd Personal Care home provided wonderful compassionate care during the final stages of my mom’s dementia. There are not a lot of options to care for our aging loved ones. Nursing homes are depressing places that are notoriously understaffed. We experienced this first hand and received less than desirable care that ended with a trip to hospital. And it was one of the higher rated ones in area. I was desperate to find an alternative to sending my mom back there. I had no idea that personal care homes existed. Then someone recommended Shepherd PCH. It is warm and welcoming like a home should feel. There is a kitchen w table for eating meals if able, a living room w tv and games and sitting area. Individual bedrooms you can add your own furniture and decor. There were 6 residents and 2 staff members most days. You can’t get that kind of ratio anywhere else. Home cooked meals for breakfast lunch and dinner and snacks. My mom thought she was staying at an air b&b and that made me smile. But the true highlight is Liz with over 20 yrs of experience and her staff who has been with her for yrs. She has dedicated her life to caring for people with dementia as her specialty. I witnessed first hand the compassion Liz has for her residents and their families. And the cost was the same as what we were paying at assisted living and less than nursing home. My mom has since passed and I am at peace knowing she was treated with dignity compassion and kindness until the very end. And forever grateful.

The administrator of Shepherd Personal Care Home, Liz and her team of caregivers have shown an unmatched level of both compassionate and highly trained ability to care for my father with challenging dementia symptoms. Shepherd Personal Care Home is phenomenal! They have been caring for my disabled mom who has dementia for a few years now. Mom is always clean, her room is always clean, her clothes, and bedding always clean! They are in communication with us if there is a change or concern with my mom and they are always super sweet, professional, and helpful. This place is always clean and i'm always greeted from one of the staff with a kind word and a smile. My love one is clean no bedsores look to be treated with good care. I am so blessed to have found Shepherd Personal Care Home in Missouri City, Texas. A truly loving and caring place for elderly loved ones. Dad was going through a divorce and having one health issue after another. It was too much for me to handle on my own, as his only child, so I sought out the help of a professional assisted living. All the places we visited were too big and too anonymous for Dad - he actually checked himself out of the first place I moved him into . Fortunately my friend’s husband had heard of Shepherd Personal Care Home, where there are less than 10 residents (both Indian & non-Indian), the staff speaks Indian languages & they treat their patients as their own family. Liz is experienced in geriatric care and will guide your family’s health every step of the way. Even when Dad had behavioral issues as a consequence of his dementia, Shepherd never abandoned him and worked with me to find solutions for him every step of the way. Dad passed last summer at Shepherd (June 2022), but I will be eternally grateful to Liz, Kevin & all the wonderful nurses at Shepherd for many years of loving care. I am at peace knowing he received the best care possible and we all did whatever we could for him until his final day on Earth. If you’re seeking a smaller, more intimate, quality care home for your elderly family member or a place that will honor special dietary requests, I can’t recommend Shepherd enough. My dad needs almost 24 hr supervision. My mom was having a procedure done so she was going to b out of pocket for a few wks. So we had to consider placing him somewhere temporarily. I heard abt Shepherd thru a fam friend. We went for a meeting/tour/visit. I was immediately impressed. The facility was clean. Manager interacted with my dad well. We decided to place him there temporarily. The manager communicated with me every day and night on my dads status. I visited a couple of times and he seemed extremely content in the environment. He got along with staff. They cooked him the foods he likes. My dad would have no problems going back to Shepherd. I trust them. They care for him well. I’d, hands down, use them again, if anything of the sort were to happen again. Thank u!

We whole-heartedly and enthusiastically recommend Shepherd Personal Care Home for taking care of your elderly loved ones. My mother was there in that facility for about four and half years and just passed away. My mother had multiple medical conditions including Alzheimers, and was gradually deteriorating and she became completely dependent in her care. After a few weeks at this place, we felt that this provided her with a better alternative. The staff got very attached to her and she got similarly attached to them. They provided complete care with a smile, love and affection, and took care of her more than their own family. The facility director, Ms. Elizabeth Joseph, is an extremely compassionate lady and made every effort to take good care of residents, adapt the safest procedures and avoided any mishaps in this place. I am very proud to say that despite so many years in that facility, my mother never had a bedsore, or any untidiness whenever we visited her. Ms. Joseph made sure that their nutrition was well maintained, and that she followed all state and federal regulations for a facility of elderly care. Medical care was promptly available both for urgent and routine care. All patient care logs were maintained regularly and thoroughly following physician orders verbatim. Ms. Jospeh was very prompt in letting us know whenever there was any deviation in her health condition, day or night, and she was available whenever we called her. When the pandemic of Covid hit us, Ms. Joseph took extraordinary measures to protect the most vulnerable of the population, making sure that her staff followed the strictest guidelines and procedures. The visitors were made sure that all covid precautions were followed to the word. All facility residents (patients) and staff were vaccinated and boosted when vaccines were available. The result was that no facility resident tested positive throughout the two-year pandemic so far “ a great achievement by any standards. Very proudly, I give them a five-star rating in every aspect. It was truly a home away from home for my mom, and I believe for any elderly that needs care and be looked after. I, being a physician, can vouch that such exemplary Personal Care Homes rarely exist today. Please do not hesitate to reach us if anyone has any questions.

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
