My dear Mother lives here and has for the past six years! This place is a fantastic facility to live. They have so many amenities and activities for the residents that they stay very busy in a social environment. The apartments are very well maintained and the residents are safe. Heidi is the director of this facility and because of her fantastic Christian leadership everyone that works there are so friendly and professional. The staff knows the residents and get involved with them in their activities. The food is fantastic because of the chief that works there, he will have a meal that is always top notch. The restaurant can also meet any of the residents special food requirements like my Mom at times need. When you walk into the place you see a smile on everybody's face staff, residents, and visitors alike. I feel secure knowing my Mom lives there in such a great place!

Community is the best description for the Delaney. From the very first tour I felt the community support I wanted my dad (and myself) to receive as he aged. The Delaney atmosphere and communal areas are nice and classy, yet comfortable. Most hours of the day when I drop in residents are out of their apartments enjoying the community areas, whether it is eating, socializing, playing bingo, or doing crafts. The residents are friendly and fun to be around. Everyone on staff from the Director to maintenance has been personable and caring to my family. I love attending all the community events. They are lively and well done. It's a place I enjoy going to visit and best of all I am at peace that my dad can easily be social and engage with his peers while living in a clean and safe environment.

I have been talking to the Delaney for the past two years for the possibility that my aunt, who lives out of state, might need to live here. The entire staff has always greeted me with a friendly face, answered all of my questions, let me take measurements of the room for furniture etc. Now, I've been looking at the Delaney for the past year, since I moved my dad in with me at my home, just in case something were to ever happen, and he needed more care. She invited dad to come and have lunch with fellow pastors that are residents there, which we did, and welcomed him with open arms. Becky Day is an angel walking on earth. My dad did recently end up in the hospital and will live at the Delaney after he regains some strength in rehab. Becky has been there for me and a true sounding board through this entire process. She has reassured me, given me knowledge I didn't have of the process and all of these moments calmed me with her endless patience, love and guidance. I just can't say enough good about the feeling you get when you walk into the Delaney. It feels like home. 

After our dear Judy passed away in March of 2022, we began looking around at various retirement communities for our "dad", as he definitely needed company and no longer needed the responsibility of a large home. From the moment we walked in 1.5 years ago and were greeted by Becky, it didn't take long to know that The Delaney at South shore was the perfect place. The entire staff was welcoming, compassionate, kind and understanding. Although we live in Alabama, we make frequent visits and we're always treated with the same hospitality. These past few months have been some of the most challenging in our lives. Our dad became very ill and ultimately needed the help of home hospice. My husband stayed by his side for those last 3 weeks of his life, as I flew in and out. From the welcome home sign the staff brought home, to all the various visits and accommodations that had to be made, EVERY need and request were met. The Executive Director has put together not just a staff, but a family and every resident there is made to feel apart of it. Every member of this staff went above and beyond from the kitchen (the food is amazing), security, maintenance, front desk, and of course Heidi Haight and Becky Day. There is no wonder the Delaney stays filled! Although dad was there only 14 months out of his 85 years, I can assure you they were some of the most meaningful! I highly recommend Delaney at south shore. You will not be disappointed.

Although I wish my mother could remain independent in her house, I am glad we found her a home at the Delaney. They were fantastic during the initial move in, easing moms fears and apprehensions. Due to weather related issues with our home, my husband and I moved to The Delaney while our house was being repaired and reconstructed. The level of hospitality we received from not only employees but the residents as well made being away from our home bearable. The amenities were priceless, we had meals provided which relieved the stress of grocery shopping, the house keeping services which took the stress of cleaning off my mind, and the fact that we had a dog park for our fur babies was wonderful since we didn't have access to our normal back yard. Overall I am pleased with not just the facility but the staff as well. And honestly it is the staff here who makes the Delaney at South Shore a wonderful place. Late 2021, my mother moved here and from day one.... The staff have been outstanding. 5 Stars for the residents. Many are very engaging, friendly and kind. And I think it is worth noting that the residents too make up an important factor / key element that makes this facility a wonderful place. Side note.... It's heartbreaking that some (for whatever reason), don't get visitors. These were are parents who did the best they could to raise & provide for us. And we should make the time to visit them - But for what's it's worth.... Those of you who don't - the Delaney does a great job stepping up in your absence. The property is well kept and from my experience and observations, they have a very good proactive approach rather than a reactive approach. Before settling on Delaney, we had visited several facilities (without an appointment).... Some turned us away and we didn't follow up, make an appointment and never went back (Delaneys gain..your lost). When searching for a place for mom/dad, go there unannounced. And when we walked in 2021, we were welcomed (check mark). We were greeted and received well. Sure they weren't expecting us and they had no time to get ready, no time to go remove Mr. John Doe or Ms Jane Doe from the dinning room, or activity room and etc. It was important that we came inside the first time to see how we were (or would be) received. The front office staff did a great job accommodating & assisting us. We had expected to have spent about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs here our first visit, we ended up being here more than 3 hours. We toured the entire facility and met everyone first day (because it's important to see what's going on & how it kept/looks like behind the scenes as well). And they gave us a great first impression. We visited a couple of places prior and didn't get this kind of reception from the other places (although those who did receive us without an appointment were good.... But Delaney 5 Stars on that first reception and first impression).. We made a couple of visits (at different times of the day) back to the Delaney, and we asked a lot of questions. Asked about various policies, procedures and what if scenarios, etc. everyone we encountered gave us their uninvited attention. They were patient with us - after all this was a big decision and I / we had to know whether or not this was the right place for mom. And the Delaney understood that, whereas a couple others places.... Were like don't worry we got you (nope, no thanks). Overall the staff here were honest, gave sincere feedback, and were straight forward - had visited a couple of places where they seem to provide you the "corporate response" or "manufactured answers". The staff (everyone) who've we come into contact with is very attentive and friendly. They do a good job with the "fan experience" here. The hospitality here is wonderful, comparable to what you would expect from a hotel (or resort) while on vacation. Another 5 Star selling point for us....The hospitality I'm thankful to the restaurant staff, activity coordinators, care technicians, housekeeping staff, nurses, maintenance staff, front desk personnel, sales personnel and everyone else there who I may not mentioned for the job they do - grateful for what you do day in and day out assisting & helping my mom. What can they (Delaney at South Shore) do better.... Same as at any company ..... continuous improvement. Nothing is prefect, we have to constantly evaluate what we're doing, review the service / product we provide, and look for ways on how we can improve. I think they do a good job of that here. I'm happy, and comfortable with the decision to come here. Thank you once again to the staff in the various departments here who are truly the face the company. Thanks and appreciate the job you do. It makes me happy knowing my mom is in good hands.

My mother lives in independent living at the Delaney at South Shore. When she broke her leg, the staff really stepped up to make her comfortable and to assist in any way possible. Heidi helped me negotiate the ins and outs of Covid shots, coordinating with mothers hospital and physical therapy. Josie helped manage getting mom back to the Delaney from the nursing care facility, and Dorothy helped mother get back into exercising. The hospital surgeon said that thanks to the exercise program at the Delaney, mother was in good physical shape for a 90-year-old and would probably not have any problems recovering and resuming her active lifestyle. It was great to get her back to her nice, clean room. Overall, the continued care for their clients and the quality of their service (the food is excellent, Marty), has been a relief to my sister an me. Caring for your parents is not easy, but the Delaney at South Shore has made it much easier for me and my sister. Thank you, Delaney.

My father lived at The Delaney at South Shore for about a year. He started out in Independent Living and then needed more care and was transferred to Assisted Living. The staff at the delaney always cared for his needs on time and went above and beyond to make sure he was well cared for. They helped him with small needs such as helping him with his phone to big needs such as maintenance in his apartment. They even cared for his cat while he was away for a few days. This is a staff that truly cares for their residents and made my dad feel safe and comfortable when we were no longer able to. The community - wow, so beautiful and the apartment was spacious and I was so surprised how custom the kitchen was just like a home kitchen since my Mom still loves to cook. Heidi & her staff have gone beyond to follow the Health guidelines by the CDC, the State of TX, the corporate guideline during Covid-19 since March of this year. Their efforts have paid off as no resident or employee has had the virus. I know it is hard for the residents to understand the stay at home & health guidelines that the whole world has been under. They have still been able to visit & eat with small groups the entire time. They also have access to walking inside or outside. My Mom has seen more people on a daily basis than I have since March! I feel so blessed & happy that my Mom is living at The Delaney in Independent Living where she had 3 meals delivered a day, could walk around inside or outside of the Delaney, get her mail, go to sit & fit, bible study & eat with her friends! I know God brought my Mom to this great place, it was all part of his master plan! I live right down the street & can visit any time by sitting outside of her porch. Thanks to Heidi & staff for their kindness, concern & attention to details- they are doing an excellent job! I would recommend The Delaney highly to anyone interested in a Senior Care Living Place!

My wife and I have been living at the Delaney for 14 months now. I am in Independent Living and my wife is in Memory Care. Our experience here has been wonderful. The staff and management have always been open and friendly and eager to help in any way possible. The food is excellent and the housekeeping staff does a wonderful job.Since the pandemic started, we have felt safe and are very proud that we are one of the few senior living facilities with no COVID-19 cases so far. The staff and management have made every effort to follow the guidelines set forth by the corporation and state and federal instructions. They have also made every effort to encourage visitation by friends and families to keep us in contact with the rest of the world. Residents in IL can have face to face visitation with family outside with the visitors remaining in their vehicles and the residents staying 6 feet away from the vehicle. Residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care have visits through glass by telephone in a visitation booth set up in the AL and MCs entrance. The staff in Memory Care sets up audio and video calls for the residents to have contact with their families also. There is ample space for residents to socialize in the living areas and specialty rooms in Independent Living. There are smaller rooms where small groups of residents can share their meals while maintaining safe distancing.All in all, I think Heidi, her staff, and the corporation have done an excellent job of keeping us safe and as comfortable as possible during these unprecedented trying times. Thanks to all of you and lets pray that this pandemic ends soon.
