As new residents of the Buckingham's independent living Classic apartments, my husband and I were extremely impressed that the Buckingham's excellent service continued during hurricane Beryl and it's aftermath. The on-site generator provided power to elevators, halls, and public rooms immediately when the power went off. Extra generators were brought in and power and air conditioning was restored on the third day to all apartments. The amazing dedicated staff went above and beyond by staying on-site around the clock to provide services and three hot meals per day in the dining rooms for all residents. Looking back, the experience shows how the Buckingham's "extended family" all worked together to turn a difficult situation into one that was manageable for everyone.

The staff is taking wonderful care of all of us! Good food, cheerful workers many of whom stay on the premises 24 hours a day, impromptu fun activities, and residents who help each other at every opportunity. I have lived here 12 years and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

My experience is specific to the memory care unit - my mother lived there for the entirety of her illness and recently passed. While no facility is perfect, the staff in the memory care unit truly care and do their best for the residents. The memory patients are always out of their rooms during the day, there's lots of activities, and the outdoor area is safe and beautiful (and huge!) and available to the residents at their desire. I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe and pleasant memory care experience.

I highly recommend The Buckingham. One of my parents had the misfortune to be in several disappointing skilled nursing facilities over the last year. Once we came to The Buckingham, it was such a relief. They provided exceptional care, especially their PT services. (The food was wonderful, too.) If we ever need skilled nursing again, there is no question that we would return to The Buckingham.

When we get there in the morning my mothers feet are out of bed on floor, she is cold and a fall risk. Have to have her bed lowered near floor to begin with. Showed nurses station at night pictures of mom almost out of bed and next morning same thing. same old problem, short staffed , new people. Obviously does no good to ask to check on my mother to see if she is I n bed. Going to admin Monday to get answers.

OUTSTANDING QUALITY OF CARE AND PATIENT EXPERIENCE. My elderly mother spent a week in the Buckingham's skilled nursing facility following hospitalization, and her stay there could not have gone better. The facilities are very nice, and the clinical & operational staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and compassionate. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I am an extremely satisfied and happy resident of Independent Living section of Buckingham for the last 8 years. Twice I had the occasion of staying in Skilled Nursing section. Once after surgery for fracture of thigh bone, second time after my surgery of Total Replacement of Knee. On both occasions it was a very pleasant experience, nursing staff, dining staff and choice of food as well Physical Therapists, all were very helpful and made me feel special. Directors of nursing. Social Services, Rehabilitation , all used to visit frequently . I am a physician so I understood the value of the way I was treated at a difficult stressful time. If there was choice, i would have given a 6 star rating.

My Dad was there for only a few days but everyone was so nice. Each patient had there own room complete with TV. The place Averill was clean and tidy. I loved and appreciated the check in proticols.

Notified today that a staff member has tested positive for Covid & the Buckingham is now on lock down for 10 days! This means my family member will have to spend Xmas eve & Xmas day alone! What is unacceptable is the lack of diligence by the staff to always be masked. And the staff is not required to be vaccinated. This is the SECOND time a staff member has tested positive within the last 6 months & the Buckingham went into lock down mode.

It was very clean so I give it a five stars on look and smell. But no one comes to answer the call bell. I pushed it for my family member and no one came the whole time it went off at least 25 minutes and still no one I went and got what he needed myself. He is new there so we will see how it goes. Update: things have gone much better since that day. Response time is much improved.

My father was admitted to The Plaza/Skilled Nursing facility for rehabilitation Wednesday July 24, 2019. He broke his femur hip bone the Thursday prior. My father was transferred by Methodist Houston ambulance bc he couldn't walk since having surgery last Friday. His first day at The Buckingham was not good-they put him in his bed & that was that. He called for ice pack, his pain medication, help for cleaning after, well you can imagine. My mother was with him but she's exhausted from all the trauma. Yesterday when I arrived, my father said he pushed his call button, going on 30 minutes to no avail. Again he needed his pain medication, ice pack, water to drink and his TV apparently had never been cable programmed so he had had 1 station to pass the time. Having now voiced all this.........he's being cared for much better now. My father is now getting cared for in the proper manner. Please be sure When you arrive to be proactive on all accounts. Facility & Physical Therapists are fantastic!!!

It seems as though every staff member that I have interacted with are always smiling and professional. That says a lot about what they think about their place of employment and how they go about their day caring for all of the residents that they care for. Very impressive.

Great food, service, residence, staff, and facilities. Maintenance staff are very responsive, cleaning weekly, replacing filters and light bulbs, rotating mattresses, and repairing appliances, all on short request time. Residents are friendly and interesting. The medical care was just rated #1 in Texas. We love it here!

I often have dinner at the Buckingham with my parents. The staff are friendly. The food is really good. I like the location, - excellent view of the "forest" in memorial from the tower, building 8. This is a nice quiet community with caring staff. I like staying here overnight as a visitor, very quiet, comfortable place.

I made the best decision to work here. I was so proud of my job. Michael Cummings is an amazing administrator who is working hard to maintain a positive environment for our seniors and staff. I feel the place is going through changes which can cause things to seem discombobulated, however I have faith they have it under control. I wish more employees had the same compassion I carried, but they were trying. Due to many personal "bad timings" I was unable to be as reliable as I like which I wish I could have fixed in time. Now that I have everything under control it kills me to not be there. I wish I could go back in time just to give the residents another hug. In other words this place was great! Dont give up if you have had a bad experience it will come together I know it will. If you have the honors to work here dont mess it up! Love those residents to the fullest. Please I beg someone to carry on my compassion they deserve it. And to "Mathias" I'm not sure how to spell her name but she knows who she is, is the est nurse in skilled nursing she is absolutely amazing. Thank you all for this opportunity and if yall ever find it in your heart to have me back I will be here with my fingers crossed hoping........until.
