I lived here for about a year and a half when it was Brookdale Senior Living, and it was truly a wonderful place to call home. The residents were warm and welcoming, the staff was always caring, friendly, and helpful, and there was a real sense of community. I have many fond memories of my time there and would highly recommend Pegasus Preserve of Memorial City to anyone looking for a comfortable and supportive senior living community.

As a Broker with Oakington Realty, I work with a lot of families going through transitions and looking at senior living options, so I always appreciate seeing communities that genuinely care. I’ve attended several networking events at Pegasus Preserve of Memorial City (formerly Brookdale Memorial City) and also toured the property, and every experience has been great. The community is beautiful, clean, welcoming, and the staff and residents have always been friendly and engaging. You can tell they take pride in what they do and the environment they’ve created for residents and families.

My father was a resident here for several years. Maintenance requests for peeling paint in the bathtub went unaddressed for years. Plumbing smells too. Cleaning procedures were inadequate, and I got bedbug bites when I visited. After he died, we returned the keys within 18 days (before the end of the month) and were told that he was fully paid up. Then we were hit with surprise charges and a 'late fee'.

This is for independent living. If your love one need round the clock care, this facility does not provide it. My brother, after moving in was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They do have hospice, but every time we need hospice to come, it takes 1 hour for them to show up. He fell several times. So we decided to move him to a 24/7 facility for his safety. Brookdale won't wave the fee of 2 months penalty to break the contract. The staff is very nice. Josephine with home health is a gem. When she comes to care for my brother, she is super sweet, caring, gentle, patient. Nancy, the head of home health is very accommodating, but the service is expensive and not instant like a 24/7 facility.

I thoroughly enjoyed living here at Brookdale memorial city. They have plenty of enjoyable things to do here every day of the week. You just have to choose what you enjoy and go and enjoy it and it is your choice to go in and enjoy it. It is up to you to figure out what it is that you like to do they have many many things to choose from. You just have to look at the board and figure it out and then go do it and you will enjoy it. A Place for Mom Did I find you or did you find me. I’m 79 and of course I can’t believe where all the time has gone. I am writing to express my appreciation and to share my story. Starting last spring, I contracted a virus that hospitalized me for about five days. Over the next 3 months I was hit with two bouts of Covid and pneumonia, and I was diagnosed with Chronic Pulmonary Disease (COPD). In short, I’ll now be on oxygen 24/7 for the rest of my life. When I was released from the hospital I went home to my apartment. It was an upscale 850 sq. ft. one bedroom with a nice patio and some 700 other apartments. I realized that after 12 years I had not met or created a single friendship. Unfortunately, this is not an unusual situation. Anyway, by June my health was in such severe decline that 911 and I got to know each other quite well. After the fifth emergency run the Hospital knew I was in trouble, and I had to do something drastic. My social security and a small pension gave me less than $3,000 a month to live on. So in a way I just gave up as it seemed to me at that time that there weren’t any independent living facilities that were within my budget. Therefore, I moved out of my apartment; I sold all my possessions including my car and I moved in with my son and his family. I reduced my life down to a 12 x 14-foot bedroom, a chair, a bed and tiny closet. I was pleased to be welcomed very graciously and lovingly by my son and his family, but I felt as though all that was left was for me to pass on into the ether. Not so. After 10 months of pulmonary and physical therapy and much loving care I began to feel normal again and I began working again. I do love my son, but I really liked living on my own and I needed to feel that again, if I could. As I began to search for a place to live, I found myself reading about people finding a place for their elderly loved ones, and here I found A Place for Mom. At first, I was shy because I just knew I couldn’t afford an independent living facility. The staff kept after me and in time we began to meet. We identified where I wanted to live, what kind of living atmosphere I wanted, and what I could afford. And Wow, In a matter of weeks we found a perfect place for me. It’s called Brookdale Memorial City. Now I had two teams of professionals helping me make a transition to independent living. They both did a great job. I now live in a 650 square foot apartment that is more spacious than my pervious apartment because of the way its laid out. Now aAfter 7 weeks I find myself surrounded by literally hundreds of people my age who are eager to meet and talk and share. The food is well above average and there are more activities than I can keep up with. I don’t need a car because of the amazing level of free transportation they provide. I get a visit from housekeeping once a week and trash pickup is three times a week. A Place for Momand Brookdale, you guys were a god send, and your awesome customer service still impresses me. I want to wish you well and sincerely thank you for helping me regain my independence.

I’m really happy with Brookdale Memorial City, especially since I live overseas and can rest easy knowing my mom is safe and well taken care of. The included meals and free shuttle service within a 5-mile radius are a big plus”she no longer needs to drive. I also love that they have two beauty salons, a pharmacy, and a general store for any snacks she might want. The staff is friendly and caring, but I do think they could improve the move-in process by offering one or two orientation sessions to help new residents feel more comfortable, as my mom forgot much of what was explained initially. Another small suggestion would be to register visitors so they don’t need to get out of their car to access the building. That said, my mom is adapting well after 6 months and feels more settled each day. Overall, I’m very happy with the care and amenities she’s receiving!

I love Brookdale Memorial City and would highly recommend their services. I’ve seen first hand the time, effort, and love the Brookdale Memorial City team cultivates daily for their clients. I love the campus and location in the Memorial City area of Houston. Their campus is safe and well maintained. Their daily activities are numerous and diverse. Select Rehabilitation lead by Katie Leever, keeps the clients healthy and in motion. Every professional that I’ve encountered on their campus from Maurice Ayissi and his 3 decades of experience, to Daniel Hernandez and Christine Tran who always treats me like a valued friend, and on a first name basis. That’s what separates Brookdale from the competition, I trust them.

I had the privilege of visiting and getting to know Brookdale Memorial City and it has been a positive experience. The Indendent living community offers a comfortable and well maintained environment for residents. The apartments are spacious, bright, and equipped with modern amenities, making it easy for my mother to feel at home. The office staff is incredibly friendly and responsive, always available to help with any needs or questions. The terms of dining, the food is consistently good, with a variety of meal options that cater to different dietary needs. The dining staff is friendly, and they make an effort to create a pleasant dining experience for my mother. I can honestly say that this was the best decision we made for my mother who had downsized from her home and is settled in now at Brookdale Memorial City!

My mother has been a resident at Brookdale Memorial City for many years, and her time there has been nothing short of wonderful. She thoroughly enjoys the social aspect of living there, especially gathering with friends in the dining room and attending the various social events offered. The music events, in particular, are her favorite and always bring her so much joy. Brookdale Memorial City is a secret gem in the heart of Memorial City! I am impressed with the care and concern of the staff for the residents and the many services available to the residents, (both non-medical and even medial). There is a courtyard for every interest including swimming, gardening, gold, Koi pond, etc. And it even has it's own pharmacy and convenient store IN the community. Who knew! But my favorite part is how the residents are truly friends with one another. What a great place!

Thru Covid 19, Freezes, Hurricanes they communicate and take care of their residences. I highly recommend this facility to all that are looking for a senior residence. I moved in a little less than a year ago. I really like it here. The location is best. The movie theatre and mall is right next door. The hospital is close. You have every store within minutes that you could possibly want. I am happy with everyone that works here. The shuttle is great. The activities are great. Someone is here 24/7 and that gives me peace if mind.

I visited Brookdale Memorial City a few days ago and am very glad I did. The community is lovely and open, yet felt very secure. My tour guide was Ofelia who every resident we encountered seemed to know (and adore). I was there during lunch and the dinning rooms were busy and humming with conversation. We joined a "new residents" lunch held in a private dinning room. Here Ofelia checked in with new residents and made sure they were getting oriented to their new home and had everything they needed. Potential new residents were also invited to the lunch so they could speak to current residents and "check it out". We all had a great time and I was struck by how fun and comfortable everyone seemed to be. If you are looking for a great senior community, this is definitely one to consider.
