Sandy was an absolute angel and delight to speak with. I stopped by for a tour and she was more than helpful and informative. She answered all my questions and provided additional information to me. Such a great experience speaking with her.

For several years I worried about my brother, living alone, hundreds of miles away, obviously suffering from dementia and incapable of caring for himself. Since he was admitted over a year ago to Texas State Veterans homes, first to Alfredo Gonzales in McAllen and now Frank J. Tejeda in Floresville (closer to family), I no longer have that terrible weight of worry on my shoulders. I know he's being cared for with kindness and respect for the special person he is, and that his health is being monitored daily. My only remaining concern is that I'm still not able to visit him as often as I'd like and have to rely on phone calls through the nurse's station, which is often busy and unable to accept calls for their memory care patients. Still, I don't worry about his well being, because I know I'd be contacted immediately in case of any issue. I'm very grateful to the staff at both Homes for the care they've given and continue to give my brother.
