numerous residents are nosey; some of speakers that are in the rooms do not work, won't be able to hear fire alarms, activities, etc.; the food, the servers and the housekeepers are really good; needed to screen a lot of the potential residents: meaning they are mentally, emotionally strong enough to become a resident and not wanting the money for their pocket......

My girls was wanting me closer to Dallas to be close to them so they could be there for me and wanted me still to be Independent and a place that I could have my car which was very important to me so we looked at several brochures and online but we heard about the Emerson and I have been here for 5 months and I am pleased with my apartment plus I have met new friends and the staff is very friendly and we have a variety of activities to do every day.

Great place! I love how active the residents are. It's also great that they have assistance services in house just in case the residents need a little extra help with things like medication reminders.

i decided to move to Emerson at Harvest Hill, after making 3 tours I have never regretted in making this life changing decision. I was delighted to find a 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen allowing me to meet my dietary restrictions. I still eat most of the lunches and entrees from the tasty foods in the dining room.. I opted to bring my washer and dryer. I have a call button necklace which alerts the front desk if I need help. Transportation is provided for doctors' appointments , banks or to the local stores. Emerson offers a full variety of activities and even has a movie three times weekly...can't beat that!. There's a gym and many fun things to do daily. We have some religious services and a weekly happy hour with a variety of entertainers and vocalists Everyone, from Pam Hiser, (Director of Resident Programming)I and all the staff have been friendly and most helpful. This is my home away from home.

Emerson on Harvest Hill is our home today. We have a lovely and spacious two-bedroom apartment. The staff is very caring and accommodating to our needs. That includes housekeeping, maintenance, TV/computer assistance, and administration. The activities are numerous, ranging from exercise and chair yoga to movies, entertainment, happy hours, field trips, games and parties. We have made many new friends with common and diverse interests. Meals are provided in a comfortable atmosphere. There is a warm feeling when you hear piano and voices from the residents on a daily basis. Our religious needs are being met. This is a happy place for us. Marilyn and John Roppolo

A year ago my brother, Jimmy, had to make a decision to move to a retirement center. Being very sceptic & hesitant he moved into the Emerson. Here it is one year later & his daily lifestyle has been improved by 200%+. The staff is amazing, the food is good & best of all the residents are HAPPY!! Thank you, Emerson

Emerson on Harvest Hill absolutely goes above and beyond for their residents! As soon as you walk through the front doors you are greeted with a smile and a friendly hello! Not to mention how immaculate the community looks! It always smells so clean! The food is fantastic and the dining staff is very kind and helpful. Whenever an issue arises, the maintenance staff works diligently to solve the problem. There is an abundance of activities! Something for everyone! Eddie, the Executive Director, is definitely doing what he was called to do. He is compassionate, dedicated, and very respectful. He is mindful of how hard his employees work! Eddie has a special bond with each resident! Thank you, Emerson on Harvest Hil, for being such an amazing place!

They provide a lot of great activities onsite, as well as away from the facility. Lunch and Dinner Clubs, Horse Races, Casino, and many other fun activities! The activities director is awesome! The food is good and the facility is clean. Front desk is very welcoming and friendly.

Emerson has been a blessing for my parents. They both have made great friends. My dad passed about 3 years ago and my mom is constantly saying she is so grateful to have been settled at Emerson instead of being by herself in the house without my dad. The staff are absolutely beautiful with my mom. My mom adores all from the dining hall, maintenance, housekeeping, activity director, the sweet drivers, and all the office staff. The front desk is so caring when residents come down and have questions or just hang out and visit. Francisco is especially one of the favorites with the residents helping them with their electronic devices. The staff are all so kind and caring. Both the residents and staff are truly like family. The activity director is amazing and constantly has fun outings for them and family can tag along as well to the musicals, movies, plays, restaurants, and any other fun places the residents suggest. I used to work in senior living sales and Emerson has it going on.
June 2023
My mother has lived at the Emerson on Harvest Hill for the passed year. It's beautifully kept; clean, bright and inviting. My mom is happy there, which is most important to me. She has made lots of friends and likes to sit in the dining room, at mealtime and chat with friends. The staff is superb... friendly, patient and understanding, and residents are always greeted by name when they pass the front desk! They get rides to and from doctors, outings and entertainment to participate in. One of the many things that makes it different from other independent living facilities is that they have an enclosed, safe dog park in the grounds.
June 2023
This is the most home away from home community you could ever come to comfortable friendly, wonderful salon and if I need to move my parents from Michigan, I’ll move them in here at Emerson The staff is always helpful and friendly. The residents are always looking to make more and new friends. Even the dogs get along around here we have field trips we have sing-alongs, and we have games and exercise your name. You’ll find it here. Come pick out your apartment today.
May 2023
I have lived at the Emerson on Harvest Hill for exactly 2 years. It is clean and well run. The staff is friendly and helpful but not intrusive It is an independent living community so you are expected to fend for yourself. Having said that there are 3 meals a day. Plenty of entertainment provided and things going on. Both on and offsite. Bus to get you to doctor appointments All in all it’s a pretty good place to live and the cost is very manageable PS the location close to LBJ and the Dallas North Tollway is priceless
May 2023
I had heard so many good things about this residence, so when I moved back to Dallas, this is the place I called. I have been back over a year. The interior as well as the exterior are beautifully maintained. The management team and receptionists are very accessible and helpful. The free transportation runs like a clock with excellent drivers. The meals are tasty and the dining room crew can’t be beat. My housekeeper is very thorough with keeping my apartment clean. The activities are abundant; something for everyone. The Activity Director, Pam Hiser, has a an exceptional talent for arranging a wide scale of activities and entertainment ; including games, excursions, musical performers and so much more for us residents. The maintenance team is knowledgeable and efficient. I probably could go on and on, but I won’t. Bottom line..I am very pleased and comfortable living here.
May 2023
I enjoy all the activities and everyone is very friendly. I love my apartment and the location of it, next to the putting green area because I get to see the squirrels and birds. The maintenance crew and the housekeeping crew are very nice.
March 2023
Cutting back staff, not enough people working in the dining room. It is not uncommon tow wait 30 minutes to order. Cut cleaning crew to 4 people and increase the number of rooms these poor people have to clean by 30%. Cut breakfast to oatmeal and toast to cut costs. Cut maintenance to one worker...insufficient. No follow up on issues. Eddy posts resident's concerns on a bulletin board and nothing is ever done. Some pilferage goes on. Renee never follows up with resolving issues. One person on night shift is insufficient due to emergencies. No help if people need assistance in getting picked up from a fall. Good people have been let go or left. No control over parking or car blocking entrance.
January 2023
About 2 years ago, my son found Emerson for me and we came out and toured with Susan and we seen it was clean, updated so I decided the Emerson was for me! There is Lots of activities and things to do.

I have made several friends here. The staffing crew is great as well. Overall this is a wonderful place to live.
January 2023
Talk about taking advantage of the elderly. Staff taking things out of residents rooms, switching to serve yourself continental breakfast. Where people in wheel chairs can't carry stuff to their table. Don't move into this site, Byer beware. Rooms that don't have AC. NON ADA COMPliamce.. what a joke. Better to live at salvation Army. Don't rent here.
December 2022
I moved to Emerson to help my Dad out. I've never seen a senior location that has endless things to do. I have made several new friends here. All the staff are the best in town for sure!

The community is emacullat. There is a very nice gathering room with a big piano and big fireplace to sit by and warm up. They have a lovely salon, library and theater room. The dining facility serves delicious meals and it also includes a very nice salad bar along with a soup and baked potato station. The servers are extremely nice they go above and beyond to make you happy. There are many actives and games available to residents. The residents are amazing it is like one big family. They have a lovely dog park. I just can't say enough nice things about this place.

November 2022
I have lived at the Emerson for 18 months and its like my family. The staff and residents all pull together to make my life better. Pam in activities works night and day to fill our every need. Fransisco does ALL the rest.
November 2022
everybody looks so happy and everyone is so helpful resident and staff go out of their way to help one another with what they need .We are offered three full meals everyday of the week (restaurant style) with great food. Housekeeping is once a week. There’s a lot of extra incentives and there’s just so much to do, with activities and mix and mingles and happy hours. Come and take a tour and find out for yourself.
November 2022
All I have to say about Emerson is nothing but great things, everybody in here have always been so nice to me. Made me feel welcomed since the very first day residents and staff. They have so many activities and events for the residents to enjoy, glad I got to join the pool tournament and made great friends. I have to move out because I need to be closer to my son in Cali, but of course I had to leave a great comment for Emerson on harvest hill before I leave because I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. And if I get the opportunity to come visit dallas I will stop by and say hi to my new friends I’ve made here.

When I moved in to the Emerson I found that the Emerson team takes care of their residents 24 seven from meals, transportation to doctors appointments, casinos, evenings out plus they have a superb maintenance and housekeeping staff not to mention the front desk staff that even delivers packages and brings to our apartment. In all is the management staff keeping everything running smooth. In addition to all of this is the backdrop of restful courtyards and a wonderful dog park. I am truly happy I moved to the Emerson.
September 2022
I am as comfortable as I can be here at Emerson since my wife died 2018. I believe any where I would go i could find something uncomfortable but I have found my place here. I put puzzles together every day along with my friends here and play several games. They also provide a in house therapy for the residents called Legacy and its wonderful! The staff is friendly and polite.. If your looking for a place you would love it here..
September 2022
Emerson was a God sent to me almost a year ago and I still love it here. The residents are so happy here and the staff is really great and there is lots of activities for us to do daily plus we go out in the evenings and have loads of fun!
September 2022
I love living here. The dining room staff are great and will bring us items not on the featured meal of the day. We have a salad bar, soup and potato bar. We are served 3 meals per day and the weekly menu comes out every Monday. The activities range from pool, card games, bean bag toss, singers, happy hour ,movies, trips restaurants, majong, puzzles, making small items, and too many more to mention. There is an on site dog park, library, movie theater 3 times per week, beauty salon, and physical and occupational therapy. They take us to MD appts., banks, restaurants, and outside activities.the free washer and dryers are on each floor. Housekeepers come weekly. The fire station is around the corner. All the staff are kind and knowledgeable. The residents level of education is higher than other places I have lived. There are sofas and chairs where we can gather to talk. It is extremely quiet after 8 pm.
September 2022
As a vendor for special music programs for the past year, I have found Emerson on Harvest Hill to be very accomodating. The grounds are well kept and lovely. Upon entering, everyone is friendly and the decorations are well done. The programming calendars offer many activities and the residents enjoy what appears to be endless refreshments and entertainment. The transportation provided is top quality and the dining room is a busy hub. The staff seems very caring and attentive. My experiences at Emerson have been and remain exceptional.
September 2022
Moving from another community, I can honestly say I have moved to the Taj Mahal!! I have a complete apartment with private bathroom. The food is exceptional and plentiful. The activities are numerous and will appeal to all.
September 2022
I am an 81-year-old Emerson resident and have lived here for almost 7 years. It is time to brag about Emerson Executive Director Mr. Eddie Phelps. Having lived here through many changes that include being repurchased and redesigned, Emerson is now like living in heaven, thanks to Mr. Phelps. Our dining service includes salad bar, white and sweet potato bar, our dining servers are bright, sharp, and flexible with top training skills. They also remember who you are and the way you like your foods and meal choices. Many times, we have happy, spirited music being played which everyone loves. When you go into the dining room during mealtime, you will see the happiest, friendliest people always saying hello to each other. I credit Eddie Phelps with this wonderfully warm and happy environment. When Eddie came to Emerson, he was full of smiles. Eddie has weekly meetings (Enlightened Conversation with Eddie Phelps), and it was a winner where residents sit with Eddie and talk about concerns or suggestions, they want to share with him, and he gets right to it. He also began a popular pool tournament which everyone enjoys, especially because the Emerson staff join in with us. Eddie Phelps makes sure that everyone has important /essential rides offered as well including rides to your doctor appointment, Walmart/ target runs, banks run, beauty salons, pet groomers and churches, one thing I truly love is the residents' arts and crafts. If you visit their Emerson Facebook page you can see pictures and videos of residents enjoying themselves whether is at the weekly happy hour, mix and mingle or many other activities. Another major offering at Emerson is the trips to restaurants, to the latest movies, up to Mesquite Rodeo, trip to the casinos and museums. I know and can true fully tell anyone that Emerson is the best Independent Senior Community Center in Dallas.
August 2022
I am 81 years old and have lived at this beautiful senior community for almost 7 years. We have gone through major changes and upgrades to result in this magnificent building. Since we have gone through major staff changes, we have finally been given the gift of our Eddie Phelps who is the Executive Director of Emerson. When Mr. Phelps entered our community, we became joyfully transformed into a happy and congenial population of happy residents. Eddie brought a bright congenial attitude with humor and an easy going approach with all the activities. Eddie makes himself available every week with his 'Enlightened Conversations with Eddie". This means he is always available and also participates in our pool tournaments which we had never had before. Our monthly themed lunches have been outstanding with such themes as Italian and Chinese to come. We now have the most impressive activity calendar of any other senior community in Dallas. Also, Emerson has the most outstanding video shows of our real residents having grand times here at our Emerson, and/or at Mesquite Rodeo, or fishing , or Casino, and/or trips to any/all fancy restaurants in Dallas. Emerson also offers Religious services to churches and also in house. Eddie Phelps has brought a special kind of joyful magic to Emerson and I feel like I already live in heaven, so could not imagine Heaven living any other place. Janet Butler

They take care of their residents
July 2022
After my mom had hip surgery and was discharged from rehab, she agreed going back to her condo was not safe or ideal. I toured MANY independent living facilities and Emerson was by far the best value! The food is good with many alternatives should you not like the main entree such as a salad bar, baked potato bar, soups and sandwiches/burgers so there is something for everyone’s taste. Many independent living communities have an activity schedule, but this place really goes above and beyond with the options. I have never seen an activity calendar this full every month and again, there is something for everyone. The employees are all very kind from the front desk concierge, the housekeeping staff, the activities director, the drivers, the dining room staff, etc. You can live here and be very comfortable and socialize as much or as little as you want to. Life at any age is what you make of it!! I think this place is a gem and Dallas’s best kept secret in the independent living sector. If you are considering a place for you or a loved one, I really think you should have a tour and listen to all the included amenities. I genuinely feel like God led me to this place and that for some of the employees their work is a ministry and not just a job. I interviewed over 6 different residents at random to make sure they were happy living there. For reference, our experience started January 1, 2022 so we are 7 months into this journey.
July 2022
My parents have lived here for about 6 months now. It's a beautiful and well maintained building. The food is nice and they have so many events and activities that keep the place lively.
May 2022
I love that they are trying to mix age groups here, but my lil sis is having a hard time with the old folks here. They are the snobbiest old folks I have ever met/ not met! The property management is working on issues that really need to be taken care of.

My name is Keith and I have lived at Emerson Harvest Hill for three months. When I started my search for a new home I was pleasantly surprised to see how friendly and accommodating they are here. From the moment that I first set foot on Emerson Harvest Hill I was taken on how special Haley and Susan made me feel, and this feeling contiues to this day. Francisco and Carla, the front desk staff, know the daily goings on at Emerson. Approximately half an hour before an event they will announce over the P.A. system which can be heard even in your room. The transportation team is great. Trips to the Dr, pharmacy, Walmart, and many other places are scheduled, not mention all important Dr's appointments. They will even drive you and your pets to the groomers. Entertainment is paramount at the Emerson whether stretching with Silver Sneekers, or stretching your vocal cords with sing alongs either by the fireplace or trying out your own talent in the auditorium amongst your Emerson family. Guest performer are wonderful from the Crooners to todays country can be heard while enjoying a snack and a nice adult beverage. Maintenance and housekeeping staff are faithfully there when needed. Those smiles are infectious and they are happy to share. Now the Food, the restaurant Chef oversees a staff focused on our nutrients. The wait staff stand at the ready to assist you. My favorite the "Soup" is wonderful. There are alternatives too, and they are good, especially the salad bar. Whether your having the days Entree' or a vegetable plate it's all excellent. And then there's our director of the Emerson Havest Hill Eddie Phelps. Whether welcoming new Residents or helping in the dining room Eddie is there. His weekly discussion groups are a constant. And if your having coffee or just chewing the fat more than likely there will be Eddie along with us. So I've shared a lot information with you hopefully you will want check us out. There's always room for one more. See ya.

I went to visit my great grandmother and I was pleased seeing the new construction, very modern! I also was informed that the dinning room was opening, my grandma doesn’t enjoy the thought of that but I’m glad they are opening with precautions and hope she goes to dine in for meals, through out Covid-19 there was restrictions and she notified me that she didn’t feel so lonely because the dining room servers that came by the rooms always had a nice conversation with her, and I just want to thank them, hopefully I can dine in too with my Grandma. ABut everything is great. Housekeeping is awesome. I would refer this place in the future.
September 2021
I raved about Emerson in a previous review but now the food has changed. The food is no longer amazing and many days not good. I hope they address the issue quickly.

Our director Cheryl keeps everything afloat. She would go down with it. What a great leader! I was born and raised in University Park, Texas by an MIT Chemical engineering father. My grandfather was in Dallas at Tremont next door in 1976.He was a Southwestern Medical School Graduate and an Army Colonol, a professor, a cardiologist (not in that order correct me).My mother's father. Doc's( everyone called him) reason for being there was his and his daughter's adoration of her son and his decisions. Randy, my brother. The SMU LAWYER. ST MARY'S LAWYER. MY MY CONDO IS STILL BEING REBUILT FROM THE TORNADOS.THE RECOVERY MAY BEABLE TO BE VIEWED HOWEVER IT MAY LOOK LIKE A CONSTRUCTION SITE.I WILL HATE TO LEAVE HERE.IT IS SO PRRFECT. MATTIE HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING IS THE BEST PERFECTION IS HERE.STERILE AND BOSSY BUT YOU WANT THAT WITH COVID.ALWAYS ACTIVITIES GOING ON.MORNING AFTERNOON MOVIES TOO.YOU CAN STAY IN YOUR ROOM OR NOT.WHATEVER YOU WANT.LOVELY PEOPLE MANAGEMENT EVERYONE EXERCISE BE HEALTHY FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Granted I've only visited this place and have interacted with the night shift and a few residents. But it looks really nice inside and very moden. Multiple "TV watching" areas, a skeeball machine, a poker table, chess/checkers table, pool table and many more activities i saw.
May 2021
I've only visited for my job but what I've seen has been great. Staff friendly and courteous. Facilities are well maintained and they even have a dog park which I found a delight.

This is a safe place to be.My room is surrounded by crepe myrtles and oaks.Looking out my windows is superior to a Van Gogh.If only the City of Dallas could clip the interior dead parts.ARE THEY WORKING?THE TREES ARE IMPORTANT.THE AIR IS NUMBER ONE.
June 2020
The facility is in decline, the food is poor, and the owners are struggling to make needed repairs and improvements. Their excuse is COVID 19, waiting for permits, looking for a better catering company, and a needed new kitchen. Whoever advised the new investors and owners when they purchased the property must have overlooked that the kitchen was not a part of the dinning area??? They are negotiating with the nursing home that owns the kitchen. In the meantime due to COVID-19, sub-par meals are delivery to our rooms. I hope that the owners will strengthen things out quickly.
