I have various friends that live there. PROS: It's centrally located with plenty of parking and and very welcoming, particularly the front desk staff. CONS: Very high staff turnover. Over the past 2-3 years, the amount of staff turnover is a little too much. Just when residents start getting comfortable with certain management and staff, they are GONE. And I don't think they have enough staff to assist with cleaning and maintenance so definitely a lack of service and events. Marginal Food - And the biggest complain I hear from some of the residents when I visit is the food. There needs to be more tasty food that the residents can enjoy and more themed meals. And it would be very nice to have maybe once a month or once a week some sort of buffet for those residents can walk through or roll through and feel like they're at a nice cafeteria. This is done is other similar senior living places and it's so nice.

Mitra was so helpful and quick to respond to all my questions during the move in process with my mother. She explained everything in great detail and made an otherwise stressful transition very smooth. The facility is great and everyone we have encountered have been so kind and welcoming. Would highly recommend Soltice Senior Living!

January 2025
The best feature of Solstice Senior Living in Austin are the residents. It is conveniently located near Sunset Valley shopping. The past 6 months have been stressful due to staff turnover. As a result there was a lack of services and few activities for awhile. This is improving and the new staff seem to be committed to making the community a better place to live. They are friendly and accessible. Unfortunately the food is inconsistent. Some meals are excellent but others are marginal. A new chef is starting soon so hopefully this will be rectified.
January 2025
Very friendly residents and staff. Have made many friends and enjoy the activities.
January 2025
A community that cares. Residents are friendly and quickly become family. I've been here 2 years and there have been a lot of turn overs in staff. I think we have a winning team. The Executive Director is very hands on and can be seen around the community every day. Instead of just listening and ignoring he addresses the problems and looks for solutions. Good leadership produces good staff. Lots of activities you can participate in. A safe and happy place to live.

Solitice has a home like atmosphere. All the staff very quickly learns everyones name and calls you that around the building. The building and grounds are well maintained so you feel comfortable with guests coming to see you.

My mother lived here for 9 months and during that time, I saw her transform from a wheelchair-bound, depressed person coming out several hospital stays into someone who walked again (later on without assistance), had friends and attended social events at Solstice all dressed up! Towards the end, her health and strength was so good that she was able to climb the stairs from her 1st floor apartment to the 3rd floor where the restaurant-style dining area was located. The staff was so nice to her and so kind, and went above and beyond to help her feel welcome and settled in, including transporting her to her dialysis treatments. For her other medical appointments, MetroAccess would come pick her up and drop her off at the front door. St David's Hospital South is just 2.5 miles down the road which gave me so much peace of mind. Solstice is a beautiful place to live and I'm very grateful for all their staff did for my mom.

The virtual tour was comprehensive and along with the commentary gave a very complete picture of living at Solstice Senior Living at Austin. The green areas were very lovely and accessible.

My family were in need of a safe living situation in the middle of the Covid crisis. The staff at Solstice delivered a first rate service for us while keeping the quarantine for all of the residents. The facility looks clean and well kept. And the apartment my parents will soon be living in looks like a new apartment. Clean, bright, modern and spacious enough for the two of them to live comfortably. Their costs are competitive for the Austin market. The location is convent to hospitals and shopping.

Haven't been here in person but I've talked to Ann a couple times. Very informative and helpful. Only reason I rated a 4 no swimming pool!
February 2020
I agree with my Sister Joanie! Mom has really started to make friends at Solstice. Their Vibrant Life Director Hope is amazing! They have outings and parties on week ends as well as during the week which I like. When we were touring other communities I checked the activity calendars and it seemed like nothing was every happening n the week-ends except for church! I also like that there are Managers there on the week-ends. There is a great atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. Great food too!

I moved my Mother in to this beautiful community three months ago and I couldn't be happier! The entire management team go above and beyond for their residents everyday. The food is amazing! My Mother has met some of the nicest people and she has really started to enjoy her life again. I highly recommend this community to anyone that is looking for a place for their loved one! Thank you Solstice of Austin!

My 85 year old friend has been a resident here for the past year (at the insistence of her children). She loves the friends she has made, the view out of her back door, and she is very appreciative of the staff (limited as they are). But, the positives end there. Solstice became the new name for the facility after acquisition this past year”shortly after she moved in. During her 11 months at Solstice, there has been continual turnover in the staff. They run a bare bones operation (not lean and efficient, but very few people who work very long hours). It took her 6 months to get her Internet (wireless) working and she has to pay extra for it even though she was told it was included in her monthly fee. The building is old and in great need of repair. But probably the worst and most distressing thing is that they have substandard, cheap and very unhealthy food. She has to eat meals there since her unit only has a microwave and refrigerator. Often (80% of the time) the meals are pasta and salt. Hot dogs. Cheap food laden with sugar, fat and salt, that is not healthy for seniors who may have blood pressure issues, diabetes and other conditions. She has gained 20 lbs since moving there. Also, the residents went for at least a month in the summer where meals were not served, or delayed over an hour due to staff (the cook leaving abruptly) turnover. I wish she were my mom, since I would not have encouraged her to move-she had lived for 40 years in a great place: across the street from her best friend and in a very desirable Austin location. I wish her kids had invested with her to find help to come in to her home and cook or clean or take her places as needed, and given her the gift of allowing her to live out her life in her own place, or that they had found a more suitable place for her to live. I have other elderly friends in Austin who live in very well run, nice places. If you are looking for a home for your aging parent or friend, my recommendation is not to consider Solstice.

Absolutely beautiful community! I heard about it through a presentation that was given by their sales person, Alley Cowgill, at my church. Now, I have to be honest I never in a million years would have considered a senior living facility, but after Ms. Cowgill's presentation my interest and several others were peaked. So we scheduled a group tour. Ms. Cowgill met us on a Saturday afternoon and toured a group of about 20 of us old folks and answered all of our questions and concerns - it was such a pleasant experience. It was like talking to my best friend. Some residents even stopped and said hello as we were touring. Gorgeous landscape. Amazing active programs. I cannot say enough great things!!!
February 2018
My mother and I visited here before the property changed hands. My mom is not comfortable with higher-end communities, so this was great. She later decided she wanted to stay in her home a while longer. Now she has heard negative things about the new ownership. We’ll need to investigate. Finally, after Mr. Boggs received such a creepy assessment, I’m surprised that his own review of the property is on the website. In fact, I’d be annoyed if the positive review of anyone working there were plastered all over the reviews page. Seems pretty biased to me, wouldn’t you say?

Caring staff, but facility past its prime
May 2017
This was the first retirement facility I have visited as I am in the very preliminary exploration of options phase of my search. I have in mind to move into a little cottage or casita that is part of a larger community. Englewood definitely has some nice cottages. This would be a nice transition from living in my own home. The grounds were quite peaceful and well kept. It is sort of tucked away in a close in south Austin location. No big highways or streets close by so no traffic noise that I noticed. Beautiful trees and the cottages as well as the ground floor apartments in the main building all have a front door and a back door and they all had a nice patio in front for sitting outside and enjoying the scenery. They said I could put in a small fence so my small dog would have his little outside territory. I would not be able to walk tot he dining room in the main building often even though I would be paying for three meals a day as the walk from the cottage area is a bit much for me. All in all, there were many things I like about the setting and the interior of the apartments. Everything clean and updated though not plush high end accoutrements. Unfortunately I cannot afford even the one bedroom apartment on the ground floor in the main building. It is beyond my fixed income. This is a beautiful facility in a beautiful wooded serene private area, but not for me right now. Everyone was friendly and pleasant.
