Reviews Raintree Manor
August 2019
I am changing my rating and review of this facility based on my last experience with my mother's care. I have struggled with this but feel that I have a larger responsibility to people looking for help for their loved ones, as opposed to the friends, and some of the wonderful people I have developed relationships with over the years. The first few times mother was there for rehabilitation it appeared that the staff was in sync with each other. The therapy was good and they seemed to pay attention to patient needs. Something has changed in that there doesn't seem to be any communication between departments and shifts. Even going to the Administrator doesn't seem to cause a trickle down of information and conformity to patient needs. In July and August of this year my Mother fell five times in two months. The first time was in three days of her arrival for rehabilitation. I got the call and rushed to the ER. She was awake as I held her down and they put four staples in her head. She cried and ask me why I was betraying her and letting them hurt her. She slept for three weeks. I met with the administration and ask them to put an alarm on her bed and chair. They refused and informed me that she had a right to fall and they were upholding her dignity. I ask them how dignified it was for housekeeping to find her on the floor in a pool of her own blood. And I ask them why they had alarms on all of the doors so she couldn't get out. Why doesn't she have as much right to step outside for a breath of fresh air as she has to fall down a break her neck. Then I suggested they might be more concerned about making points with Medicare than they were about my mother and her safety. They didn't have an answer. I subsequently found out that they tried to make me believe this policy of no alarms is the law. It is not, but is merely their corporate policy. And they would not relent. My mother fell four more times. One of those times they failed to tell me about it. Another time they told me that she had slipped off of the commode but they had caught her and set her on the floor. They lied about that one, because she had a large lump on the top of her head that was purple and green. They moved her to a more restricted wing and even with that it was not good. I had the main nurse look at me one afternoon and ask me if it was okay for Mom to be up walking around without her walker. She had no idea of my mother's needs. I was stunned to say the least. Raintree has major problems at this point. And one of their main problems is that if one of their employees tries to address a problem they get rid of them...and they keep the problem. I lived through this through July and August of this year. My Mother has been in NHC for two weeks due to infection.I did not want to make this change but Raintree forced me. NHC gladly put an alarm on my mother's chair and for the two weeks she was there this month. The following review was written based on a previous time when my mother was in their facility. These are good people...helping people. Professional and compassionate. I don't understand the two bad reviews here. There is nothing perfect in this world. If there was a problem it is because Raintree was not given an opportunity to address it. These are people that address issues and make things right. And frankly problems have been a rare experience. From several years, of personal experience ,I have never seen them not, make the right thing happen. Mom has been in here several times for rehabilitation and I have learned a couple of things. You can expect your loved one to get the best care humanly possible. They will turn themselves inside out to work with you based on what is best for the patient. And they care about you as a caregiver...for they understand what you are going through. If they see something wrong...they will make it right. They care...deeply. They work hard...at doing the right thing...for the right reason. I don't just recommend them... I highly recommend them.
