As an adult child of a resident of the Memory Care unit at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville, Tennessee, I will admit that this life transition my mother is in is difficult to watch. When a loved one lives with dementia, you feel helpless. The staff at Walking Horse Meadows reassures me with their love and care for the residents. I have no doubt Mom is in good hands.

We went on a tour of Waking Horse the staff , residents and Karen (are tour guide) were so friendly. Karen showed us the activities calendar there were so many activities for my mother to do. My mother can not wait to move in.

My mother began her walking horse experience as a day visitor and would come a few days a week so that my father could complete some personal errands. After she had a fall last year and went to a local rehab my family noticed that not only had her physical mobility changed but dementia had increased as well. I work at Walking Horse Meadows and even as an employee of the community and familiar with health care communities after working over 20 years in it, I had a hard time accepting that it was time to place her in a community. After placing her at the community I never once regretted it at all. All the team members treated my mother as if it was their mother and to this day I cannot express how thankful I am for that. I recently lost my mother and even though its hard to come to work and see her room, my team mates are there for me and continue to be there for me. My mother had fun while she was here. She made friends with the fellow residents and team members and her last days here were comfortable and full of love from everyone that encountered her. My mother spent her last days full of friends and love and that in my opinion is the best thing that I was able to give my mother. People think that persons that work in health care are numb to things but we are not....the team here at walking horse grieves every lost resident and enjoys each new friendship at the community.

This has really been an unusual experience for me. First of all, I have never slept in a room by myself and that was hard to get used to. Eventually, I thought it was kind of nice. Second, I found that I didnt have to worry about falling anymore. When I was at home I mixed up my medicine and would fall 3-4 times a week. I found that I had a really good friend, who worked at Montgomery Central K-12 and she cordially invited me to join her table during meals in the dining room. Strangely enough, there was a man at the table who really caught my eye. He had big blue eyes... VERY blue... Sky blue. Which was a change for me because both of my previous husbands had brown eyes. Thats the beginning of our love story. After 6 months during covid restrictions, we decided that we would get married. My son, Cayce is a minister and he performed the deed outside of the building with our family and watching us from a window. When I look at everything from where I am now and when I first arrived and was lonely and in a room by myself, I feel like God put us both here. Even though there are no walking horses I would still like to give our home here a five star rating!

Mom spent over three years at Walking Horse Meadows. The staff was not only professional but caring. They treated Mom like family. I could not have asked for anything more. Wholeheartedly recommend Walking Horse if you are looking for a residence for a loved one.

An outstanding facility in every way. They are a compassionate group of professional caregivers who went out of their way to accommodate my ailing mother during the height of the COVID-19 crisis. A caring and dedicated staff who go out of their way to keep me informed as to my mothers health and well being. I highly recommend Walking Horse Meadows to anyone looking for senior living facility that really cares about its residents!

My mother stayed at Walking Horse Meadows for three years after we were no longer able to provide care for her in her home. I believe the management and staff are Heroes everyday for all the loving care and they provide for their residents. Theyre also very excellent in providing care during urgent situations. They were superheroes this past summer during a storm that knocked out power in a large area of Clarksville. I talked with the condominium owners who are located right beside Walking Horse and they said during the storm there was an electrical fire ball running down the electric line for several minutes and many startling noises and electrical . There were also huge power fluctuations in the area and then the Transformer blew. The staff at Walking Horse did an amazing job in protecting the residents and doing everything possible to ensure their safety during this difficult situation that affected many people in Clarksville. I believe the management and staff at Walking Horse are angels protecting many senior citizens. Im very thankful for all the Care they provided for my mother and provide for all residents and Im very blessed to call the management and staff at Walking Horse my friends. My experience with this community was while I worked as a private duty sitter with a resident that resided on their memory care side. The staff was very attentive, compassionate, and caring with their residents that have dementia. I would highly recommend WHM for elders that require 24, 7 care.

Our Mother, Mother in Law resided at Walking Horse Meadows for over two years. We were well satisfied with the care she received. The staff was always attentive and caring. They were always kind and patient. The staff has a difficult job and we thank them for taking care of our family member.

My mother has been at Walking Horse for 4 years. After visiting several assisted living in the area, I knew this was the best place for my mother. She has had the best care there. They are the most loving and caring team members. I have come to consider everyone there family! During this Covid Pandemic they have strived to ensure the safety of ever resident and employee! Heros definitely work there. I would highly recommend Walking Horse Meadows as the best place for your loved one!

I recently picked up a shift at WHM & found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The building was clean & comfortable. All staff was very attentive and accommodating to the residents. It was obvious that they care deeply for their residents, family members, & each other. Great team

We moved my mom, into the memory care, in September 2019. The facility has a wonderful feeling of home. The staff have been fabulous, particularly now with COVID-19. As we are unable to visit it is important to feel at peace with all who are caring and loving on her. I couldnt have hoped for a better facility!! I cant show our appreciation enough.

I recently visited Walking Horse Meadows and was extremely pleased with every aspect of the community. The sales counselor was very helpful and compassionate throughout our entire tour and made my mother feel very comfortable. Its a very friendly environment and I wish that I could have placed my mother at Walking Horse Meadows, but she will be staying with my sister in North Dakota.
